So if you did NOT buy into Elite Premium you may be S.O.L. on the maps for awhile.

Here is a cut-n-paste from the COD.com Elite Drops page:
"The Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 Content Season includes nine consecutive months of epic downloadable content with new multiplayer maps, Special Ops missions, game modes, and more that are available first for Call of Duty ELITE Premium members or later in the form of collections for non-Premium members."
Here is a cut-n-paste from evil source gaming:
"The Content Drops will be available for purchase by the entire Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 player community on Xbox LIVE in March, as part of the first Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection. The Content Drops will be available on additional platforms at a later time."
Sounds to me like it may be that the non-premium players might have to buy the "drops" as "packs" (i.e. bundled, maybe 4?) instead. That would really suck for non-premium members but definitely a way to get folks to buy into the premium package still.
Ouch....
thats fine activision is done getting any of my money....atleast until they say pay a few $$$/month for dedicated servers.....
Everyone should have already known this; non premium get map packs every few months as per usual, only premium users get monthly drops.
This is perfectly fine with me as it means I didn't waste my extra money invested in the hardened edition. Kind of hard not to figure out that xbox would get the royal bj while ps3 would wait a month. As long as I get it before nonpremimum xbox I will be content.
And take a look at the drop calender here:
http://www.callofduty.com/contentcalendar
Only getting 12 maps total. 2 (soon) and only 1 next "drop"
6 "missions"
and
2 "game modes"
Seems pretty shisty that they're including game modes as "DLC" (unless they're actually SpecOps based (i.e. Survival, missions, etc).
Looks like it.
This has been known for a while. It's basically the same process that all CoD before have followed in regards to DLC map packs with the only difference being that premium Elite members receive the map packs earlier in incremental releases.
Looks like I'll be S.O.L. forever L.O.L.
We got First Strike for Black Ops in the first week of March, so bascially we have to wait a month longer than usual, not a huge deal. Honestly, I'm pretty happy I didn't buy Elite Premium. I have the free version, and it is bascially exactly the same as what my Premium freinds have. I can wait a few months for maps, not the biggest deal in the world.
So if PS3 Elite Premium users get pushed back to February for the first 'drop', then we will get our last 'drop' in October.
Funny how they had to put the disclaimer on the bottom.
"*Content and release dates are subject to change"
If I recall the last map pack for Black Ops, it was only Zombies and it was released in October for us PS3 folks.
if i get the paid elite on the 1st would i still get the map pack free (PS3)
I believe so.
Sounds like they planned this to make even more money.
Tease everyone who didn't by the premium package and make them want to go ahead and get it.
The only thing you won't be able to be/ get is a 'founder' status.....for whatever that is worth....
The only other curiousity is what the cost is going to be for non-premium players to get the DLC.
One would think it would be near the cost of the B.OPS packs.
F'N STUPID... id imagine 12 maps 4 per drop 15.00 per pack would be 45.00 who cares about new game modes and special opps... il wait
But if you remember (if you played Black Ops) they also included Zombies maps in the regular map content as well. It will be a 'package deal', I am sure.
I'm ok with whatever. I won't buy the maps as I find that such a rip off. Secondly, the maps should be free anyway. Back in the old school quake days, you could make your own maps and distribute them etc... Talk about player support, you could have infinite map packs from the community, and replayability like mad. Like it should be now... sigh
COD:4 Was the last COD to make that available for PC only though.
We all will have to sit tight and wait.
Who cares if Xbox360 get the DLC first.
Let them, let them find all the cool hiding spots and post them on youtube.
So once we get them. We are already ahead of the game on knowing the maps.
less QQ more pew pew!
Ha! I have already been watching the uploads! Ahhhhh YouTube.....
TBH im totally fine with it.. dunno about you lot but i only bought MW3 for the MP and i have'nt even started the campagn nor do i really want to.. (i would prob do it if the network went down) im also not bothered about the spec op's as i have'nt even started that & again nor do i want to.. im only bothered about the MP.. i bought the hardened edition but took it back due to bad servers.. then missed not playing COD so bought an ordinary version.. there's no way on earth im paying for DLC at this point.. The Host Lag Compensation at the moment i feel is'nt working properly for me to regulary have an enjoyable game. yea i play MW3 quite alot & im on prestige lvl 8 (nearly 9) but its not the enemy's skill that make's me a bad player.. its the lag.. !!!
Fix the LAG & i wont mind paying for premium...
The sad part is, people will still eat it up.
Yes they will. Their patience will get the best of them and spend, spend, spend...
