CAMPER / CAMPING

Everyone seems to have different definitions of these things.

If your in one spot not moving for a length of time, hard scoped, your camping.

Thats my term, what's yours...

IMO, camping is picking one spot and staying there, with no desire to go anywhere else. If you pick a building with a window, and people keep running by or running in, why the hell would you move?

If the action is clearly in another part of the map and you stay far away, ADS waiting, that's camping. Snipers(as much as they frustrate me) are the exception.

      fps camper:

A player who who will find an area where they sit and wait for other to come across his or path. usually a corner so that they don't expose themselves to other players and have the most cover as they can. if the area that they watch have a botlle neck layout it suits them down to ground.

the camper will not leave this are even if no is around to challenge them for that area IE will only leave once they have been killed.

If the camper is unable to return to his/her's hiding place they will try to find a diiferent area with the same features.

NOT ALL CAMPING IS BAD, camping a site in demo after a plant will often lead to a better sucess rate than running away from it

This.  Performing map control by holding a sizable area is not camping as long as one will move if the action dries up.

Sitting in a dark doorway with a shotgun the entire match, regardless of activity, is camping.

Sitting in a dark doorway when you know a number of enemies is approaching is not camping.  No one steps out to face 3 enemies and expects to live.  The guy that waits for them to pass till the advantage turns to him is simply smart.

This whole anti-camping movement where everyone thinks there are "rules" to how people play are about as bad as the british army fighting in formation and then getting their butts kicked by the American's who use gorilla tactics.

It's Modern Warfare. People need to start acting like it.  There is no honor in any given play style, just some fabricated rule that is spread by teenagers who are secretly romantics, in that they pretend a video game competition has honor.  Losers.

As far as TDM goes, whatever it takes to win.  An ancient philosophy that is still one of the most relevant principles of war, is to NOT die.  Sure, some cultures glofiry that, such as terrorists or kamakaze's, but it's ineffective in the long run.

Not making yourself a target is an art.  To not die in the face of killcams that show exactly how you get your kills, is a real skill.  It's called tactical maneuvering combined with weapon proficiency.

Someone can get all the headshots while running around randomly they want, sure, they're skilled shootists, but their still very dim people if they can't adapt and overcome.

"Skill"  is not JUST aim ability.  Playing as a competitive gamer, in any given event or platform, whatever's not cheating is more than fair game.  In such an environment the intelligent and capable will simply do better than the idiot savants who are great shots but can't tie their own shoes or walk and chew bubblegum at the same time.

Leave the romantic notion for the ladies.  Come back when you've grown some real testes, that sock in your pants isn't fooling anyone.

    Re: CAMPER / CAMPING

I think whether you're in ADS or not is irrelevant.

If you're in the same place and didn't move for a minute or more, in or out of ADS just watching a sightline or alley or doorway waiting to shoot the first movement you see... you're just camping.

Unless you're being forced to do this because the other team keeps stacking and will not let you advance, and you're not sure if you can turn your back and move the opposite way without dying. This is called being pinned and the enemy is too dumb to flank.

However, the act of camping somebody can be different.

You have the individuals that come back for revenge kills (a guarantee if you kill somebody twice in the same vicinity especially if they were respawned very close by and made a beeline back for you), and the campers will move to a different corner to anticipate that player's return, kill them again. Then move to a slightly different spot, rinse and repeat... This is also camping, though it's more on a personal level and not to be confused with basic camping.

    Just my opinion

    Re: CAMPER / CAMPING

Someone that's sitting in a dark corner in an area of the map that no one ever goes to with assassin, blind eye, dead silence, Heartbeat sensor, and a trophy system or portable radar. And if you kill him he'll mark that spot off of his list and go to the next dark unexplored area, and he'll go down a list of corners until he reaches the last one...then he'll go back to the first.

The only time I'll ever get frustrated is in those situations ↑.

    If you're camping a choke point...I mean, you're still an as*hole..but you're not a stupid as*hole.

Someone that's just farming kills but doesn't contribute to the objective like stopping the other team players from capturing flags or planting bombs.

Actually, I do say strategic camping if it's helping to win the game. But when someone camps just to have a high K/D score and ignore the objective, I call that camping like an *censored*.

      Re: CAMPER / CAMPING

I am a pro "camper".  I hold down a part of the map that enemies always run by or to.

I do a lot of camping, both hiding in random corners to reload or get the jump on somebody and not having my back exposed, and hiding in the open where I can pick enemies off within 5 seconds of them spawning like on Fallen.

My opinion on "camping" is that the bad players are just mimicking the good players but in a way that doesn't make the game any fun to play.

A bad player (anyone below a 1.25K/D, no offense to anyone) is more likely going to sit in a corner down a walkway or in a building waiting for someone to show up on their screen.  Bad players also normally don't use there heads or don't catch on to what is going on around them.

A good player (anyone above a 2.00, anyone between 1.25-2.00 is average) is morelikely going to control a part of the map with a strategic placement and is normally going to have there back exposed,  but a good player will occationally check in front of him and behind him making sure that he is covering as much of the map as he can to keep the enemy team from going anywhere they want to go.  Good players are always aware of what is going on all over the map.

The average is a mix between both.  You will have a bad player that just gets alot of kills while in random corners and wins easy gunfights, and then you have the good player that just dies alot because he is not controlling the map well enough.

Corner campers normally will never do as good as a map controller but every once in awhile there are some that manage to.

Note: All of my info is what I have experienced in SnD and TDM.

You just used different words for "Camping".

I get kills running around the map, maybe ducking to reload or to catch the stray enemy thats going lone wolf, as i can hear his footsteps or see them on uav, few seconds pop off their head and im up and running again. this is the fun of cod, fast furious action that takes skill to build killstreaks, any1 can camp for killstreaks and its cheap and unskilled, End of.

    Re: CAMPER / CAMPING

Who cares about campers! Let them camp. if it is a kill based game then they are doing no harm for the team. Most likely helping by not dying a lot. if they are camping in a objective game and doing nothing for the win. Then leave the game, avoid that player on xbox live and hopefully you wont get paired with that player again...Gessh there are only over a million people playing this game at any given time.

    Re: CAMPER / CAMPING

Im tired of the camping argument crap. Iknow this thread is not really tryingto start anything but why talk about this?

Camping has been apart of FPS since the first FPS. Someone realized instead of running around I can wait and people can come to me and I will have a slight advatage if they don't know Im here.

Its not cheap its not a lesser playstyle its jsut another playstyle.

The only people who dont likeit are the people who die from it.

Campers sacrafice the saftey of mobility for suprise and cover. If their are only 2 ways in then their are only 2 ways out. So if you got enemies at both entrences and you know your screwed, thats it your screwed because both your exits are compramised.

Most the campers people hate anyways are the ones that hide in almost stupid spots and if they never went back to them they would probrally never see that guy in the match again. But they get mad and go back again and again.
