Who is this "Plus Sign Guy"?

A brief search turned up nothing, but that might be because I don't know the proper terminology for the search. Just looking for a simple answer here and I hope you guys can help out.

Has anyone noticed that when in the lobby screen every once in while another player in the lobby will have a white avatar to the RIGHT of their name with a PLUS ( + ) on it's chest. What does this mean? Sometimes it's a player that is in my party and was on my team the previous game and other times it is an opposing player.

Any ideas?

I believe it is someone you share common groups on elite with.

  I don't believe this true. I commonly play with people from my Elite Group (and clan for that matter) and they never have the "Plus Sign Guy" as well as I have had completely random people in the lobby who have had it and I am fairly certain they are not in our Group / Clan.

    It is...someone you share common groups on elite and it is NOT already in your frindlist.

      Yep, I wondered about this the first few days too then I figured it out after clicking their player card and looking at their common groups of interest in the lobby.

    nope thats exactly what it is you share an interest/group with someone on elite.
    
    the important word here is elite.. ie its about as useful and functional as a chocolate fireguard

Hmm, I guess the NOT on friends list thing might be the ticket. I must be signed up on some silly Elite group other then the 4rum boys, becuase I have definitely seen people I don't recognize.

  not 100% sure but did you join any groups in the beta as i think they might still be active somewhere.. ie cities ..countries ect

    I'm sure it has to do with the friends list. My brother in law and one of my friends both like the Broncos, and we are part of those groups but I never see the + sign on their tag when we're in the same lobby.

  It's the same group NOT clan. Your thinking of clans there is a difference. If you click on one of those pluses people you can choose the option show common groups

Maybe its announcing w player who just joined that group or possibly someone asking you to be freinds in elite.

Only problem is I never looked. been to busy reporting Button Tags

i always thought this to, i thought either common groups or either the Host of the lobby/Game? possibly?

If you have a common group on elite then it will show the plus sign guy. So if for example you joined the United States group and someone else in the lobby is in the group then that plus sign guy will be there.
