A call to Activision about host lag (PROGRESS MADE)

Alright so me and Semper called Activision yesterday and we managed to speak to a supervisor and he claims that they're gonna submit a report to the devs about the horrible host lag in MW3 Wii:

What do you guys make of this? It sounds legit to me because SH*TBLOCK was telling us a few weeks ago how the call centers were restructured so the people working there can submit reports directly to the devs.
This would be about the only other MAJOR issue they could fix that would make this the best COD in the series. Unfortunately, so many hosts are just quitting or ending matches because the lag is so horrible for them and this in turn is of course affecting those that don't get the pleasure of getting host duties.
I will get host farely often and I won't end a match because it's not cool, but I will leave that lobby as soon as the match is over and try to join another lobby where maybe I won't get host.
I can't imagine what they can do to lessen the lag for the host due to the limited resources of the wii. Is it possible they could rework the game to run on dedicated servers or would that have been an option that needed to be put in place during game development?
It's a problem when the support person doesn't understand how the game runs on the Wii.. this is part of the problem.. why can't we have access to customer support that understands the wii?
I know, me and the other people in the Skype chat were frustrated that they knew absolutely nothing. It's very unprofessional. This is actually the second call we made, the first guy we called didn't even know MW3 came out on the Wii.![]()
Like my comment about the tech support peoples not knowing what a frame rate was???
lol.
Anybody who's watched Mythbusters or Time Warp knows what a frame rate is in a roundabout way, and they dont!!!
(OT: Nintendont and the other CC's, my skype name's CPD0123 if you want to add me)
Mmmm...I don't know the code of MW3, but the hosting problem may not be as easy to fix, at least in a reasonably sized patch. I don't think is just the way shooting and internet speed is managed as probably was with lag-shooting.
Being a host will always require more RAM than other non-hosting Wiis, the host basically gathers and double check all the match stats, and decides who dies in a face to face fight. The game wasn't polished enough. Maybe even the size of the maps and the details take over a lot of Wii resources already, so adding hosting to that may make things worst. For example there is no map in which I feel there is no frame rate issues when I'm not hosting, add to that being host, it of course it will get worst.
I think more fixable little problems are the spawn system, the matchmaking system, fix some glitches, lowering down the power of some weapons (example; reducing the effectiveness akimbos at mid range, and quickscope), and increasing the power of some killstreaks like the choppers and turrets, adding a lil more effective radius for the grenades, increasing the length of UAV, not allow assassin pro to avoid the Advanced UAV as it was in BLOPS.
I bet most of the things mentioned above involve just changing a number or two en the code, easily patchable. Like "effective radius=3", "range=9", etc.
Joe, you guys did a good job getting a supervisor on the phone. I can't help but feel that he was giving you lip service though and not much will come of this. Perhaps if they are serious about helping us they can ask all the regular hosts to submit the information he claims the devs need. I don't want to start a new thread because I'm not sure anyone actually pays attention from support. If you guys that have some inside information can explain to them that all hosts would LOVE to help them eliminate or ease this problem maybe they will provide an easy way for us to all send in our info directly to the source.
Who the f**k is joe?
Joe Martinez...aka nindendon\'t
That's not my real name lol. i just made it up on the spot.![]()
you forgot to add the first part of the first call when grom was singing ![]()
lol nice.
Sounds pretty convincing too.
A couple of my bo/skype buddies have been having fun for a while prank calling activision on their 360 part. they actually are kinda hillarious, but only cause of how incredibly stupid they are with it. They're idiots about just about everything, though.
Maybe make a call about all the fugging hackers. IMHO hacking is just a big problem as host lag, especially with the MOAB kill streak.
About the countdown before a match, I have not had host on this game yet but I usually countdown from 10 seconds, even with a 110 ping and 1 - 2 bar connection. I have found this confusing and have asked the host what his countdown is and its around the same time as mine. My frame rate seems to get worse as the night progresses and the lag gets worse too.
The countdown is different than it was in bops. You can't always tell from the countdown. To know if you are host watch the load bar as the map loads. If you see the number 1 once the progress bar finishes, you are host. Any other number and you are not host.
Nice, thanks. In blops I would always countdown from 13 when host, and anything from 1 to 3 when not hosting. I'll check that load bar in future.. ![]()
You can also tell if you're host when everyone has a red bar in the scoreboard for a few seconds while the countdown is going.
Good job guys, I'm proud of you, hope they can fix this issue (though I never get picked host so I'm ok
)
Me too ![]()
Im a beast w/ 1bar. Something i learned from Black Ops which is usefull ![]()
Penguin called them about the chickens. Sorry guys, we're not getting the chicken patch we've all been waiting for

Hey guys, here's Activision's number if you want to take a crack at calling. It's toll free so there's no harm in calling them. You can even use Skype to call them for free. If more people call in, they might see it as a major issue instead of an isolated case.
