How to remove panic knifing - easy solution.

umm.. That's the point. This is a First Person SHOOTER- so use your damn gun! Quit depending on your OHK knife to defend yourself with, and use the gun + skill to defend yourself with.

Ok then, remove kill streaks and snipers from the game. They have no place in a first person shooter.

Removing the knife would damage CoD, that is why the knife/melee weapon is in most FPS games.
The knife is pretty powerful, getting panic knifed isn't fun, if you increase the draw time of the knife and you still get killed, well tough luck you should have aimed better.

Agreed. I mean the "flinch" throws off your aim (when you're shooting), so it should have some impact on someone rushing you with a knife- should stop them dead in their tracks (bullets tend to have that affect LOL). So yeah, don't mind a knife killing me if they clearly got the drop on me or came from behind. But to run thru a wall of bullets/hit markers is dumb and needs to be fixed.

And Gamehub - I agree with the knife thing, but snipers need to be in this game as it is a FPS, and snipers are a FPS weapon. I am not a sniper and cant snipe to save my life, dont even try, but to not have them in a war game is silly especially when you have nearly every other type of weapon represented. Remove quickscoping so snipers are used as they are supposed to and that would be better.

The knife being a 2HK would damage CoD, have you played Crysis 2? It's almost impossible to melee anyone on that game, and it's very frustrating.

Sitting at the back of the map scoped in isn't FPS. You wouldn't call Sniper Warrior Ghost Recon 2 and FPS would you? No. Sniping is like sitting in a chopper far away from the action and just raining down bullets. Snipers have no place in CoD and no place in FPS games, they slow them down and ruin many games. No gun, apart from a shotgun or knife should be able to deal a one hit kill on CoD. Therefore either nerf the snipers to make it Upper chest 1HK or remove them. Snipers damage the game way to much, and CoD has small maps. It's ok on Battlefield due to the huge map sizes. You can also get perfect aim by breathing in, so in some senses the snipers have 0 gun wavering when all the other guns do.
Anyway, diverge, the knife is only a problem due to Treyarch, what needs to be done is buff the damage on all guns and increase the draw time of the knife, this will get rid of panic knifing. Hopefully the Infinity Ward team will do this.

Get off this forum, it's the official forum for people to give advice, complaints, suggestions, tips ect...
If you don't like people complaining then you're in the wrong place, panic knifing is a problem, people can jump through bullets at kill that person easily by accidently pushing down on the R3 button.

With the lag problems already in this game I can't see how they could effectively implement something like this. Ultimately I think knifing should be moved to a 2 hit kill out side of back stabs. Beyond the fact that it's unrealistic(I understand it's a video game) it takes away the overall feel of an FPS when you die to someone knife charging while you're shooting him.
There should be a system in place as follows.
Leave the knifing mechanic as is.
If you are currently at 100% health and you knife someone, that should be a one hit kill.
However if you are hurt and have say 80% of your health, then your knife attack should only account for 80% damage on another player. If the player that you knife, and inflict 80% damage on, gets shot by another player shortly thereafter you would get an 80 point assist.
Knifing should still be a 2 hit kill even if your health is below 50%, however if you only get one knife on the guy before he kills you then it should still only inflict as much damage as the health you have. A way to balance this could be to make your recovery from the knife lunge shorter if you knifed a guy when you were damaged, giving you more of a chance to shoot/2nd knife the enemy player after you already knifed him once. Some tweaking with the mechanics could be needed...
Another possibility is that if you knife someone when you have less than 100% health, then the player doesn't die but goes into last stand...just a thought.
This would reduce one hit kill knifing to situations where you sneak up on someone, or quickly knife them when you come around a corner or doorway. In such cases you deserve to be knifed because you either got snuck up on, missed with your gun or knife, or were slower at the knife than the other player. All of which are fair gameplay mechanics.
This system leaves the current knifing system basically intact and wont be as much of a shock as making the knife a default 2 shot kill. Which in my opinion would nerf the knife to the point where no one would use it, and at that point you mid as well remove it entirely. Gameplay in COD is too fast for a default 2 hit knifing system. I hope they don't resort to that.
