No one is going to kiss your ass, why should they?
Dont buy it, who cares?
Look here capn' clueless... It's not about kissing ass. Clans provide MOST of the servers! If they don't pay for the servers YOU and I have nowhere reasonable to play!

Is it 100% certain that you have to buy a server? I don't know how stuff work with this gameservers, can you explain? As far as I know I have to enter some guy's server which he bought, and also cant play with my friends on private matches without renting a unranked match am I right?

Not everyone has to rent a server. But someone has to, otherwise there wont be any servers for the casual gamer to play on. In the past, clans have mostly done that. I guess it will be those clans who don't run multiple games from a dedicated box, but rent by the slot who will be doing it for Black Ops. Just like the clan I belong to - we have just pre-ordered a ranked server for $14.95 for a month, which is less than a tenner in UK pounds. See how it goes after release, and if all good, order again on a 3 month basis after that.
This is kinda the point of contention. If you run a clan server and need to pay $15/mo for it.. How many game types can you host? If you only host one, wouldn't you host the one your clan plays? So, say you host a CTF server. That's it. One clan server with CTF running. How is the casual gamer going to jump in to a FFA game if most servers are single game, clan hosted? We used to host several game types from one server. So, we'd host a CTF a TDM and throw in a FFA for the casual gamer or for those times when you don't want team objective matches.
If you can do that with the GS server great!
We are going to see how it goes. If it turns out to be wonderful, we will probably do what we have done previously, which is to rent 2 servers - one for TDM and one for DOM. At a tenner stirling a pop, it's not expensive.- Report Abuse

Currently Being ModeratedRe: Dedi servers? What a crock of s**te!can only hope that there will be more GSP.
18 man servers..what ever happened to 32 and 64 man.
With "dedicated servers" i should be able to control my server for ranked / unranked / modded / unmodded - how ever i please. This bs renting multiple servers to do 1 thing ridiculous.- Report Abuse

Currently Being ModeratedRe: Dedi servers? What a crock of s**te!i completely agree with this. having a single exclusive host breeds greed and stagnation (stagnation of the software in this case). in treyarch's defense, they *MAY* not have made this decision themselves, since activision pressures the developers pretty hard for what THEY want in the game, instead of what the CONSUMERS want, which is how it should be. it should be all about the consumer. it is all about choices. with exclusive server hosts, for some of us, our *ONLY* choice is to boycott the game. Treyarch and activision had better do some serious backpedaling if they want this title to have a chance of success after the MW2 fiasco.

You need to be shot. You are lucky that Treyarch even put in dedicated servers! They didn't have to do that and Activision gave them hell for that, but they did. And here you are whining and saying "Oh no, Treyarch are such meanies. I'm not going to buy there game just because they didn't give us server files boo hoo." Get your head out of your ass. They have a very good reason not to give you server files. MW2 has proven how vigilant the hacker community is towards FPS games. If they release public server files hackers are going to make server for 2,000 players and crash the whole dam network, or rig the player counts, or even make one that puts trojans on your computer if you join (they did that with mw2). You should be out there encouraging people to go and buy this game because Treyarch added all these new features and took out nooby perks like danger close and commando, along with the fact they gave us dedicated server. Instead your here bitching and whining because Treyarch tried to keep the game safe from hackers. You are a disgrace to life and so is everyone that agrees with you. Ungrateful bastards.
Sami, I can understand them not releasing server files to the public to prevent the server files being hacked - this is what EA/DICE did with BC2, but to only have one GSP providing these servers is unbelievable - it gives no choice whatsoever to clans/communities that want to run their own servers! As I said before, many people are already paying money to their GSP to run gameservers or dedi boxes, why should these people have to shell out more to a different company to get a server? The other downside to having one GSP running this is their servers will very quickly get overloaded, this will affect everybody, not just clans, but everybody that ends up in an unplayable laggy server.- Report Abuse
