Fixed the freezing problem!!!!!

here are the problems i was having:

     1.  random freezing: during the game, it would just freeze and i would have to turn the power off.
     2. unreadable disc: during gameplay i would suddenly get a message telling me that hte disc is unreadable and to clean it.
     3. freezing on exit: whenever i quit the game and tried to return to the main menu, the game would freeze.
     4. infinite loading: in the middle of gameplay, the loading screen would come up and not go away. something seemed to be perpetually loading and wouldn't stop.

THE SOLUTION: i know i'm not the only one who has had this problem and i tried everything. i returned the disc 3 times and got new ones from different stores, opened my 360 and cleaned the lens and everything inside, tried playing the game from the disc and installing it to the hard drive. nothing worked. i tried the final solution. yesterday i bought a new 360. game works perfectly now. sorry to tell you, but your 360 may be going or maybe just an older model not capable of handling some current games. i don't know if this is microsoft's fault or not, but looking at their 360 hardware track record, i'm sure this could have been avoided by them.

so, in conclusion, either contact ms and tell them you have a faulty unit, or go buy a new one. just make sure it comes with the BenQ drive.

I never thought of that. It does make sense. we all know that game consols degrade over time it could be something as simple as an old 360.

well as for an old 360...I just got mine in march of this year, and i just got prototype yesterday and today the game froze during a movie scene  "so harmless you've been breathing it scene you walked in this room" apparently not harmless to my xbox lol. And if im expected to buy a new xbox every time a new game comes out thats laughable. i have not tried again, I am currently installing to my hard drive hope it was a one time thing otherwise im taking this game back to the store.

Update: no freeze this time so hope that was a 1 time thing.

I think they're may be another possibility to the freezing problem that I haven't seen come up in the forum. I personally don't buy the "get a new xbox because yours is tired & can't handle the game" solution. B*llstuff. Since having my own freezing issues with Prototype, I've played Call of Juarez BIB, GhostBusters, & Riddick AODA & all of them are wave 3 games & are as new or newer than Prototype. ALL of them ran with NO problems. I think the issue actually could be a compatibility problem between Prototype & certain dvd drive brands/models. Like maybe Radical didn't test the game on all 360/drive combinations before releasing it. I have a Hitachi/LG drive. This could also explain why some people (myself included) still have problems even when they install the game to their hard drives, since you still need the disc to start the game.
