    My issue is pressing L3 button to sprint for the PS3. Because it's a trigger, it's way too tiring to hold it down. If I want to play for more than an hour, my finger starts to ache. And sprinting is a must in this game.

    Thanks for your attention.

    Official Sony PS2 pad with generic USB pad adaptor.  Pad works fine with most other games I've tried.  With Prototype, whenever the game starts, it informs me that keys&mouse have automatically been selected.  I can highlight the control option in the menu, but no arrows appear to let me change the selection at all.

    I've tried using Xpadder, as many have suggested here and elsewhere, but I'm getting no joy.

    GameStop - PC TWIN SHOCK controller

    Works perfectly in all other games, but in Prototype i can't change the controller type.
    I get a message saying it has auto configures Mouse + Keyboard on startup.

    Friends... I believe I may have found a solution to our gamepad problem. It seems the game will only detect an Xbox360 controller (I'm just assuming this, since I don't own a 360 controller to test this out with).

    Anyways I am having the same problem as you all. I am using one of those Playstation 2-to-USB adapters to try to play the game, but the game is only letting me use the mouse+keyboard combo. I then tried using my PS3 Sixaxis as well as Dual Shock 3(using the lib-usb method; google it) but that didn't work either. Lastly, I thought to myself, "Hmmm, I wonder if there is such a thing as an Xbox 360 Controller Emulator." Lo and behold, there is!

    <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=4">htt p://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?au ... showfile=4</a><!-- m -->

    If the link wont show, just google "pc emulate 360 controller" and it's the second link.

    This method requires some extra configuring in order to map the actual buttons (the Sixaxis buttons come out reallyyyyy screwy, but the PS2 controller almost maps out perfectly by default). Anyways, as of right now (11:13PM Eastern Time) I was able to get the game to at least recognize my Sixaxis (as well as the PS2-to-USB adapter). The analog sticks work perfect, but like I said all the other buttons are screwy (you have to edit the INI file somehow). I'm about to go to bed however, so if anyone can actually figure out how to remap the buttons, please reply to this post so that I(and many others) wont have to figure it out tomorrow. Goodnight, fellow gamers!

    P.S. Awesome game, Activision!!

    NO!
    The game can detect other gamepads,
    iam using a ps2 to usb adapter but i change the oem name in my registry to "Logitech Dual Action".
    All is working but my axis are inverted, i can look with the left analog stick and move with the right.

    Here is the work around:

    Open Regedit and go (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> Currentcontrolset -> Control - > MediaProperties -> PrivateProperties -> Joystick - > OEM)
    search for your controler (mine is Twin USB Vibration Gamepad) and change the "OEMName" To "Logitech Dual Action".

    Its a workaround for gta4 and all buttons + Vibration are working, so you dont do any mistake with this.

    The only Problem is my axis.

    Greetings
