Read this before you Prestige!!!

DON’T GET BURNED LIKE I DID!

 

Here is some information about tokens when you prestige in Black Ops 2. Let’s say there are 2 types of tokens, there are Level Tokens and there are Prestige Tokens. When you prestige you will get a Prestige Token that you can use to unlock an item permanently. I used this to unlock the M8A1 but you can use if for anything including perks.

 

When you prestige you get an option to refund your tokens, this does not give you back any of your Level tokens like I thought. I had 20 unused Level Tokens so I thought I would either get these back or all 55 Level tokens back. What this option does is it releases your Prestige Tokens so they can be reused to unlock something different. So for instance if I were to choose this option the second time I prestige I would get the Prestige token back that I used to unlock my M8A1 and I could use it for something else.

 

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS OPTION IF IT IS THE FIRST TIME YOU ARE PRESTIGING, since there are no tokens to release and reuse! I did this and now I am pissed, I should have chosen to create a class instead!

 

I hope this saves a few of you from making the same mistake I did.

    As usual there seems little benefit to hitting prestige, I wanted to see a change in this to encourage everyone to progress instead of sitting on 80 (Or 55 now) for forever and a day.

    It could have easily been done in and in one of many different ways.

      Prestige is still a good thing, you keep all of your weapon levels and unlocks for that weapon so if you don't use your prestige token to unlock a weapon you just need to get to the level that unlocks that weapon again and you will still have all the attachments you earned.

        I like how they added challenges to gun camos.  The headshots challenges were cool but I think they other challenges are better.

    Ok, the original poster missed the point in the "refund your tokens".  It's not Prestige tokens you get back, it's definetely Unlock tokens you get back.

     

    Let's say you play through the 1st time and you are at level 55 and you have 20 unused unlock tokens.   When you Prestige, these 20 unlock tokens GO AWAY, they do not carry forward... If you want to use the "REFUND ALL OF MY TOKENS" prestige award....you DO NOT want to use it right now.  Rather you need to sit on it for awhile.

     

    So, now you start back at level 1.   As you level up, you re-earn tokens.   So, let's say you play back to level 10, and you respend your 10 tokens.   But you soon realize, that you wish that you wouldn't have unlocked 5 of the things that you just unlocked.   It's at THIS POINT, you could use your Prestige Award to "refund all of my tokens", and the system would give you back the 10 tokens you had earned from level 1 to 10 and you can respend them all again.   You would have to re-unlock the 5 things you did like, but would have 5 remaining tokens to now get something different than what you regrettably unlocked.  

     

    So, the "refund my tokens' should NOT be used right when you prestige....as there is nothing at this point to actually refund back...since you are at level 1 with 0 unlock tokens spent.     The game really should say "hey, you don't have anything to refund back at this point, you need to have spend some tokens during "THIS PRESTIGE" before anything can be refunded.   Please come back later.

    Pause at 0:53.   Read the description for Refund under "Prestige Awards".  It says, "Refunds all Unlock Tokens earned so far this Prestige.  This can be done once per Prestige". 

     

     

    I don't see many people resetting their stats, or refunding their tokens (except accidentally because they don't understand what is going to happen).   People are most likely going to use the "Create a Class" 5 times and then simply sit on their "Prestige awards".

     

    I really hope I explained this well enough, it clears up a lot of confusion that I had on the "Refund" options.

      I watched the video on YouTube and everything, but it still didn't explain much, it just said "don't make the mistake I did".

       

      Funny thing is, where is this supposed refund token? I just Prestiged to 3rd today and I'm already at level 30. So I've already used tokens for certain thing

       

      Yes, I chose the Refund tokens instead of the CaC option because I thought it would give me the 23 tokens I hadn't used in Prestige 2.

       

       

       

      But I checked and I don't see anything anywhere for the "refund token", and I have already used several tokens to unlock certain guns I like being that I'm at level 30 now (and going up). So where exactly is the refund token itself?

      Wow, thanks man. I'm about to hit my first prestige(1.27/hrs according to the prestige calculator) and I was really confused about what I had read so far about the prestige awards. I'm glad you were able to break it down for me.

    In my case, I got almost nothing out of prestiging.  I was able to reset my stats but received no Prestige token.  Also my weapons are at level 1 with no attachments whatsoever.  Big glitch so beware when choosing to do this.  I hear others have had this problem too.

      Doing the reset stats will not give you an unlock token. You are resetting EVERYTHING to zero. As if you just bought the game and opened it. That means all your stats, go back to zero, K/D ratio, etc. All your perm unlocked items become locked again, etc.

       

      The reset stats thing is honestly just for someone who has reached 10th prestige, is bored, and wants to unlock everything again, or try getting better K/D ratio or win game stats.

    I'm on my seventh prestige. Grinding my way through to Prestige Master and unlocking things as I go. What does surprise me is that Treyarch stopped at 10 class slots… there's so much more space on the page for more, and I'd love a couple of truly random, idiotic classes to play around with.

    I was prestige 8 and went fresh start. Now I'm sticking at lvl 55 non prestige.

    I chose refund tokens for one prestige. Can I still get 10 CaC at the end or will I have 9?

    The refund tokens only gives back any tokens you have earned during that prestige itself, not from a previous prestige. Fresh start makes you be as you never have played the game, pretty simple to understand. Extra cac is pretty self explanatory. The perm unlock is not a refundable token and never was, can only be used once per prestige.

     

    So the only way anyone can get burned is by not having enough common sense to understand what the options mean and what they will do.

    I used the refund at third prestige. YOU LIED! it didnt give me beck prestige tokens it just gave back level tokens!!!! I cant believe this now I cant use the other rewarsd like cac
