All Hosts getting Lag Comp should force Host Migration

Posted by The L1nds on Feb 4, 2013 4:26 AM

I urge each and every player who gets forced to host and is hampered by lag compensation so badly that they can't get a kill in a FAIR gunfight to up and leave the lobby.

If you are the host and are  tired of getting killed because you are a second behind the play - leave the lobby

If you are the host and a negative KD but get a positive KD when your not the host - leave the lobby

If you are hosting why should everyone else get to have a decent game at your expense. The hosts CONTROLS the game so if you are having nothing but frustration share your outrage with the community with a host migration.

3arc - you need to give players the option to be host or not. Otherwise fix the lag comp so everyone plays on an equal playing field. There was never any issues like this in the last 3 version of the COD series. YOU ONLY HAD ONE JOB!!

Take back the power people.

I would expect that everyone already does this. If you are going to back out of lobbies because you feel you are the host and at a disadvantage that you back out normally and not dasboard, power down, or pull your lan cable. Showing your dissatisfaction is one thing but ruining anothers game to do so is unaceptable.

Agreed. When I host, I'll take the loss and leave. Let migration work. Leaving by other methods is just silly.

The only problem with this is your message to 3arc.

If people were given the choice to be host, nobody would. At first, those who did not understand it would host. When they learn the host issues, nobody would host.

Hosting in this call of duty is by far the most noticable of any COD.  It is unplayable and nothing has been done for over 2 months now.  Treyarch, you are officially the worst DEV out in my opinion.  You rode the coat tails of Infinity Ward for too long and your skills at troubleshooting and matchmaking are god-awful.  You made your billions of dollars and im sure you will continue to succeed based on past success of the other developers.  Why is it that Bioware can put out FREE DLC, and fix numerous issues on a weekly basis for their game, while your game sucks?  I said to my buddy this morning that I know im host and im gonna leave...He said stick it out its only 1 minute in...I stuck it out and quit a winning match with 10 seconds left to prove to him that I was indeed the host.  How can you not fix this ridiculous feature of getting owned everytime you host?  STOP PUTTING ME AS HOST OR GIVE ME THE OPTION!  Yes itll probably take an hour to find a match cause no one would want to play your broken game then.  Only then maybe youll get the point that your game is so inconsistent and youve been outed as a team of greedy money hungry lackidasical developers that could care less about the garbage they put out there.

    Dear customer,

I am sorry to hear that you experience lag while being Host but please think about all the other players, don't ragequit and please stay in the lobby so all the other customers can have a good gaming experience on your internet connection. I recommend you to hide somewhere in a corner till the match is over.

Thank you for buying the game and Hosting the match for other players, you can buy the DLC and Host even more matches if you want, the DLC has lot of corners to hide so Hosting should not be a big problem.

I leave matches where the connection sucks.  I just apologize and bail.

It's not just host that can have a problem.  It's almost like it's random, or that it punishes you for kicking ass in one round, so you need a nerf in the next one.  Who knows?

For me hosting is sometimes fair and sometimes horrid. If it's bad I back out. If I see a mix of two, three and four bars I don't even bother to find out. If there's even one three bar I'll usually figure it out quick.

The only other time I do it is to team campers. I'll turn on my mic and say "sorry I don't host campers" and then back out.

I only rage quit if I'm enraged. If I'm host, I'll stick it out if I have half a chance of winning.

I'd say a good 80% of matches I host are a complete farce. Bullets go through people. If aim assist is on it pushes you away from the target. All airbourne enemy streaks seem to target you before other players. The spawning seems to get worse like it's got absolutely no idea where the dangers are in relation to where it's going to put you. If bullets do register it takes more to kill than it should etc etc.

It tends to be better if you get host mid-game but if it's from the start then it's usually pathetic!

Realistically without multiplayer this game would be nothing and it needs to use someones connection to run, so why the hell would they ruin the game for the person running their game that makes them billions of dollars??

A few years ago some people would complain that the host had a bit of an advantage and now all you get are constant host migrations, crashed games from dashboarding and woefully erratic connections for damn near everyone - which was better??

I leave game and force host migrations constantly because quite frankly it's a disgrace!!

If I know straight away when I am host I will usually backout.  Sometimes I give it a min to two just to see how the game feels.

I have had one or two games as host were it's been ok and other games I am in godmode.  If it's running bad or in godmode I leave.

I will continue to do so until I feel the game runs as it should.

As soon as I die the first time I look at the Killcam.

If it does not line up with what I saw I am gone.

It is normally some guy picking his nose, shooting a circle around me and hitting me in the toe with one bullet.

When I fired instantly right into his dome.

That is in BO1, I let my newphews borrow BO2 4 months ago.

I can barely play BO1, I am not going to play a worse game engine.

This is the worse advice I've read in many days.

What in COD's name are you talking about, players like you who ditch every game because you might or might no be host is the reason they implemented probation, its the reason the game play gets bad!

Stop being so concerned with your game statistics and just play the game!

And it's a post like this for someone who rarely experiences host issues. How often do you host? Do you host a lot? Be honest. Do you even know for sure with any accuracy? Too many people have found that when they are the host the gameplay is completely different. it has been well documented here in the forums.

With all of the problems hosting games, your response is "stop being concerned with stats"? Nonsense.

Why should the OP sit through that?

Take the 5 min probation penalty.. I have been the host enough and I have seen players leave when I have not been the host & dominated. It's a flawed system. I actually feel for those who leave. I know what they are going through.

All people ask for is to start on equal footing. If you are a better player, fine.. But you should not be a better player because you have a different, no... weaker..internet connection than your enemy.

Guy you no nothing about what I experience in the game, have you gone through entire games where the game play is moving literally frame by frame? Probably not, and yet I did not leave that game.

I do not keep count of times I am host, the amount of times you are host makes no relevancy to CHOOSING to ditch mid games because you feel your being punished! This is prime example of as selfish gamer!

Better or not, ditching a game for statistics reasons is the WEAKEST form of online gameplay! Obvious quitters like you what you are suggesting should not play online video games and stick to campaign, or something else.

Nope, guy,  I don't know. GREAT POINT!!!! Because you just prooved mine!  Why? Because, guy, you have no idea what I may experience in game either.

Pay attention: it has nothing to do with stats. It deals with even gameplay. Obviously you quoted me, but did not read or had a difficult time trying to understand. However I will give you the benifit of the doubt.

So, games moving frame by frame eh, and you stayed in every one? Good for you! I'm so proud of your courage to stick to failure. Remind me to hire you to clean up waste, because I know you will "stick with it", being you are so, well....strong...

Calling me a quitter hurts me greatly, hurts so much that I can care less. You are the one who feels the need to question a person's ethics based entirely on a video game. Weakest? Wow, what's the moral code for strongest?

Spoken like a true fanboy....nothing is wrong and everyone else should be quiet. Good for you, it may get you into a tour of Treyarch some day.

Many games I have played and saw the host leave. Many times after that, I become the host. I'm fine with that because I understand I'll just camp it out to finish the match.. (NEWS FLASH! That's weak too right?)

Personally, they should pay me and I will host all of the time.

Every single player in every FPS ever has had lag compensation.  It is a neccesity otherwise the host would have a massive advantage.

I have a dumb question.  How do you guys know definitively when you're host?  Is there some indicator I'm not aware of?  I'm certainly aware when I have one of those freakishly bad matches where nothing I do works, I die the microsecond the guy comes around the corner, crazy erroneous hitmarkers, killcams show zero shots of mine going off before I die, etc....but does that necessarily mean I'm host?

I'm on FIOS (ISP is Verizon) if it matters.

I have Fios too.  Make sure you download Fios Speed Optimizer:

      http://www22.verizon.com/Support/Residential/Internet/FiOSInternet/Troubleshooti ng/Connection+Issues/Connection+Issues.htm

      That helps.

As for hosting, I had a real unique experience last night.  I was in a match. Was something like 3 and 8 when I realized I was host.  So I quit out and it migrates host.  I quickly join back in to enter the same match.  I go 5 and 0 before that host quits out.  Now I die 3 times in a row so I quit out again and it migrates host.  So I try and join another game only to go back into the same one for a third time.  I go 1 and 0 but on the winning team.

Out of curiosity I look it up on Elite and it shows my name in there three times taking two losses for that single match and nothing for ending up on the winning team.

Now I really don't care about the stats. When something doesn't work, I could care less about cataloging it.  But I just hope they get closer to evening out the playing field, especially for those who are hosting the games.

Thanks for the linkn SheSaidNo.  But still, how do you know when you're host?  You said "Was something like 3 and 8 when I realized I was host."  How did you come to that realization?

Also, how did you know that host migrated when you left?  I assume you were playing in a party and your partymates told you?

Finally, how did you get right back into the same match?  Again, I assume you were in a party and were able to Join Session in Progress?

Thanks alot, just trying to understand the mechanics here for my own edification.

There's no definite way of knowing you're host until you quit out and it says on your screen "Migrating Host".  But for me I can tell when the gameplay is absurdly behind.  Most often I play about a half second behind other players and I'm just resigned to it.  But when I'm getting shot before the person even shows up on my screen and it's up to a full second behind other players I can tell I'm host.

I was playing by myself and just clicked on the regular match.  And out of the 50 available it placed me back into the same match twice.  I assume that particular match had the lowest ping to me.  And when I wasn't hosting it was alright.  But no one else wanted to host either so when it would migrate it would come back to me.

could not agree more, host for me and some of my friends is a joke.  it was the same in mw3, and lag ops.

as soon as one of us calls out about the lag, quit and surprise surprise. host migration.

so now we have started having nights on mw2 and mw. they both have there faults but when you shoot them. bang they are dead.

i just came off mw i think it said 1600 playing and 124 playing tdm lol. but god it was fun there were people from the usa, england, norway, and 1 russian but it played way better than any lag ops 2 game i have been in. and its the first time in a long time i didnt hear people moaning, no one left. it was just fun as it should be.

i did notice in mw you have to be spot on with your shots. its not like lag ops 2. you can miss by a few feet and get a kill. or you can get it dead on target and get nothing.

lag ops 2 is just not a game i or most of my friends enjoy any more. the lag and hit detection is horrible. who ever worked on the internet part of the game should have there heads put up there own arses so they can smell the **** we have been hosting.

or instead of quitting when host buy a connection for your internet lead from the xbox. that way you will never be host as i found out last week.

it makes it so your nat is not open.  which means no host. now all we need is everyone to do that . bingo. the connector costs about 2 english pounds i only bought it because i moved my xbox and my lead was not long enough. hope it works for you all to.

I been noticing same things. When I play with the Remington 870. And I get hitmarkers from a point blank shot I know I am host and usually quit. I realize then where I see him on my screen he isn't even there anymore.  I have about 500 hours playing this game and more and more I notice when hosting and just leave (I never dashboard) it is to frustrating to stick out a laggy game. I don't even bother trying to use ksg or snipers cuz it is usually a miss or hitmarker city. I know lag comp will always exist but in this game it is bad. It's a shame Cuz this is an awesome game when it runs right.

Best way to find out if you are host without seeing host migration, looking at bars or how many seconds it takes to load is to pay attention to the loading for the current map. Under the loading bar that fills, you will receive different texts...AWAITING CHALLENGE then sorry my friend but you are host. AWAITING CONNECTION then not host. Awaiting Gamestate not host but Im not 100% on thishttp://images.wikia.com/callofduty/images/archive/6/67/20120906145113!Aftermath_multiplayer_Load_Screen_BOII.png
