Confused between the three headsets?

Posted by Syndicatekiller on Feb 9, 2013 9:57 AM

Ok so after researching I have an option to buy one of the three headsets- Madcatz Tritton ax120 headsets or Turtle beach ear force X12 headsets or Tritton X360 detonator stereo headsets, which one should I buy from the three,I am looking for a headsets which is durable so it does not break up very easily,my voice should be clear when I talk to my xbl friends and the normal In game sound, and should be comfortable while wearing, and should overall be a nice headset :p

Turtle beach X42 cant go wrong i love them i started with the x11s to try them out and not to mention how expensive they are i have never used tritons though but never needed to try the x12 they are still great just no surrond sound. you will still get great sound through them no the less but being wireless is really nice.

I have the found the durability of Turtle Beach's to be subpar. I have two headsets and both lasted around 8 months.  OTOH I had some Sennheisers that lasted 5+ years.

I'm not sure what you asking basically surround sound? but the X32 i believe are cordless and surround sound but its just the 5.1 instead of 7.1 of the X42 which you don't really need. And as far as durability they will last as long as you want as long as you take care of them. I'm not sure if goober is throwing his on the ground or what but my pair of x11 from 3 years ago still work same as my x41.

What's wrong with a good old fashioned tv and a hifi or surround system?

I used to ask that same question until I had some extra cash about four years ago. I bought a TB X31 on sale and realized the difference between Bose surround sound hooked to my TV and a headset with surround sound hooked to my xbox. HUGE difference.

The afterglow wireless  is a good sounding headset and the part that goes over your head are wires and a pad. I think that's what makes them comfortable and an added perk there about 100 bucks at gamestop.

Do yourself a favor and check out the TB DSS (Dolby® Surround Sound) also. You can get a used one pretty cheap on eBay. I got mine for $20.00.

I was thinking about going this route myself, but then realized that 90% of the time I have to run with one of the headphones at least half off of my ear because our 11 week old son is in the room and I need to be able to hear him if he cries, haha, so I don't think I'd get much use out of the surround sound.

Maybe in a couple of years I can go this route or upgrade our headsets....

Congratulations on the baby. I can understand your predicament, I have an 8 year old. It's the reason I got my first "real" headset years ago. So I could enjoy the game and keep the tv down.

I have the TB x32s and the wife has the x31s and we love them.  The one change we made, though, was to replace the cord that goes between the headset and the controller.  Neither of us liked having the mute and volume half way up the cord.  So we went to Turtlebeach.com and ordered cables with the 'puck' style connection.  I promise you they are nowhere near as big a puck as the old headset style and it is a Godsend to have the controls right at your fingertips right next to your controller.

          http://www.turtlebeach.com/product-detail/cables-parts/xbox-live-puck/105

Disclaimer:  Not positive these would work for the x12s, so research before you order.  (I'd research for you, but apparently my computer and their website hate each other right now.  )

              No problem, glad to help.

The only thing that sucks is they will only let you order three.  We ordered two...one for each headset....and then had one break (well, the jacks bent) when a headset went flying one afternoon.  I went back to order two more (one to replace the broken one, one more as a spare) and it was only going to let me order 1 that time.  Ended up just ordering three using my wife's name, but still, haha.

The trittons are a little spendy, but for me well worth it. I had a few little problems with mine but Tritton was always good in sending me parts, overnight I might add.

Well the question is are you one of those people who treats there headset like ****? if so, buy the cheapest because your going to break it. All the headsets last if you treat them right,

If you got the money I suggest you buy turtle beach tangos. They are made just got bo2. They are 300 bucks. I love them. I wouldn't get x32 get the x42 since they are surround sound and 32's are just stereo sound. The turtle beach X-rays are good too. I hear footsteps even without awareness perk. Trey arch did a great job putting different audio in game than unrealistic footsteps everybody wants. I like hearing people talking or reloading or bullets hitting a wall to give me clue were people are.  I wouldn't recommend x12 or any of those headsets but if you are on a limited budget I guess they would suffice. I would rather save up at least 150 to buy x42 instead of paying 60 for x12. I have had x32,42, xp400, and tangos. I kept upgrading when i realized how much better the upper echelon headphones are.

I love my Astro A50's. I've had the A40's too but the 50's are just more simple. Long battery life, comfortable, solid and just all around great. They're costly but worth it.

Using a Siberia V2 with an old Astro Mixamp. Louder than A40s and I still get the detail that I would like.

I am still rocking the X11's. Have been for the last three COD titles. They are good for what they are and my wife even uses them to watch TV when I am playing my drums or guitar. They have seen A LOT of use and are still doing well in the sound department. No surround sound, but very good for the money I spent on them.

I've been lucky enough to review a reasonable number of headsets in the last few years for various magazines. I've tried:

    Steel Series Siberia

    Steel Series Spectrum

    Astro A40 (plus MixAmp)

    Astro A30 (plus MixAmp)

    Tritton AX180

Steel Series were good, particularly price, but not as solid a sound as the Trittons.

Best of the the bunch were and are the A40s. Having used them for several years now, I've yet to find a headset which match them for dynamic range. I only use wired headsets in order to cut down on interference.

I haven't personally tried the Turtle Beach range, primarily because three friends who had them all broke them.

Whatever your choice will be, don't forget to get a Dolby decoder. It will enhance your experience and will turn pretty much any stereo headset into a virtual 5.1 surround setup. I'm personally using a Sound Blaster Recon 3D paired with an ATH AD700 and its sound blows away my Tritton 720. I'm pretty sure a decoder is available in your country.
