WiiU Community needs/deserves Nuketown2025 - for free

Posted by BloodsWF on Feb 1, 2013 5:01 PM

A_Trey_U, maybe you can comment if you have any add'l info....This may have been addressed in other threads, but Nuketown 2025 should be given to all WiiU players for free.  I understand that this probably would need to be pushed out via DLC, HOWEVER, it should NOT be lumped into the discussions/negotiations of the WiiU getting and paying for Map Packs.  Reasons why are these...

1) Nuketown 2025 effectively came w/the game on the other platforms, so the WiiU is essentially not getting the full version of the game.

2) Unlike Map Packs that would be paid for and (in the case of the WiiU) would divide the small community to the point where matchmaking would become a bigger issue, a free release of Nuketown 2025 for everyone would maintain community consistency.

3) It is in Nintendo/Activision/Treyarch's best interest to do this b/c it creates goodwill by showing complete support for the game, would get add'l people to buy the game on the WiiU, AND most importantly send a message that the WiiU is/will be on par w/any console in this version of CoD and in the future.

Until this happens, the WiiU will NOT be considered to be on par w/the other consoles.  I think Treyarch is doing a great job given how small our community currently is.  I also love Ninendo, but if they want to survive/thrive, they need to bend over backwards for their hardcore gamers.  NOW is the window of opportunity and that window has been slowly closing.  Their sales forecasts keep getting revised downwards, and if they want that trend to continue, then by all means drag out things like not getting us Nuketown 2025, which should not be that difficult.  Like many other Wii owners who have also bought the WiiU, I will migrate to a different console if they don't step up third party title support.  I also love CoD, but will migrate to other games if I feel the experience is far less than ideal.  Lastly, MWR and Black Ops 1 were excellent games!

They might like you to do that, go to xbox and pay them more money. Yeah, they're really scared now.

A big point of centention I have with not having Nuketown is that we never had the opportunity to pre-order the game (no stores in my area anyway) and thus, never had the opportunity to get Nuketown as a pre-order bonus.

Only reason we not got Nuketown 2025 becuse the Wii U version was announced late and its a new system but we should get it soon I hope

Pretty good argument.  I want it for free because I preordered it.  Actually I don't really WANT it.  I hate Nuketown SOOOOOO much.  But if it's going to be offered I don't want to pay for it because I preordered the game which means I should get it for free.  I also don't want to pay for it because I hate it.

I'll give it a second chance though.  I hate it cause it was a laggy mess on Black Ops and it was voted EVERY SINGLE TIME it was an option.  I played that map so much.  Just got so tired of it and the laggy mess that it was.  Maybe I'll enjoy it without lag.

FACT: wii u will always be 3rd or 4th best and will never get the full version/support like 360/ps3

The wii u comunity i only small, therefore the cost to port and support leaves a smaller margin for proffit than xbox and ps3.

it would be interested to know what it costs to port and support a cod/wii game v revenue from sales

DLC will not happen unless nintendo some how subsidize it, its not cost effective to have dlc on wii u.

if some how they do step up with the content/support/dlc ect then fair play to them.

if they do the wii community grow if they don't i will die.

Well, I did get to pre order black ops 2 at an EB games.

They assured me I would get the special hardened edition steel case (which I did get) and nuketown 2025 and nuketown zombies. I didn't get either of them. I remember asking multiple times if I would get nuketown and was told multiple times and on different occasions (even the day before release) that I would receive and not to worry. I even asked if it was for WiiU each time which they said yes.

I do believe we should get nuketown for free. They even plastered it all over the official activision pre order website saying WiiU would get it.

So whether you like the map or not we should be compensated in some way for all the confusion/false advertising. I'm not blaming the devs but activision themselves for blatantly ripping people off.

Same here, gamestop and amazon were saying preorders would get it too.

Before the game even came out amazon stated it was a mistake to say we were getting nuketown. Every tv ad stated, get nuketown 2025 when preordering, ON XBOX. That should have told you something.

Anyone who thought we were getting it either didn't listen, or just set themselves up for disappointment.

We'll soon need rubber boots to use these forums with all the crying going on with the dlc BS..

I would typically go into a long rant about how the community deserves nothing, and that you paid 60 bucks for the game that was announced and that's it, and I would make comparisons similar to the NHL Lockout in that regard. However, since Nuketown 2025 was a preorder bonus, I completely agree with you. We need DLC after being lied to about it.

        A_Trey_U -

Can you speak to the reasons why Nuketown wasn't included and why it hasn't been delivered - specific to the Wii U? Is it coding? Exclusivity? Dev team priority? Wii U community numbers? I don't particularly care for Nuketown so it doesn't really matter to me, but perhaps communicating something may limit the amount of threads on this topic. Perhaps another sticky announcement specific to Nuketown?

We feel "lied to" because on the official CoD website there was an option to preorder BO2 on the WiiU with Nuketown 2025 as a bonus.  Not to mention all of the retailers who offered the Nuketown preorder bonus as well.

Conboy made a few videos about it a few months ago.

Who knows? It does say "Add on content" on the back of the box and the Wii U can definitely support DLC since a couple of games got some already.

I wouldn't say "lie" - I think there was a timing issue, versioning issue and a retailer communications issue. As much as I dislike corporations from time to time, I don't think there was a malevolent lie occurring.

Well, I won't be migrating anywhere as I am not some sort of bird.  Anyway, I don't like Nuketown.  Moreover, from what I have seen, Treyarch has been doing a good job trying to make us happy.

Agreed. They work with what they can. My guess is that its not profitable enough given how small our community is. Also DLC would further thin the playing pool, which probably wouldnt be good.

let me correct u on the third issue is that wii u is far more powerful/runs on 2011 specs then the current gen consoles but the point is that they didnt get to fully develop the game even more due to the systems launch and trying to get bo2 out on the same day just like the other ports that came out too.And by the way nintendo did announced some big titles heading towards the wii u this year like the new monolith game/ could be xenoblade2,super mario universe, mario kart U,legend of zelda wind waker HD,and also demos of super smash bros at e3.Also President Iwata did say their some big updates coming for the system including smartphone app, google map app, fixing the loading issues as well and many other things too.

Free Nuketown and mappacks for the Wii U, just because the Wii was the redheaded stepchild for so many years. Still wont make up for it, but it's a good start.

I'd love to get nuketown for zombies, just to have another map to play. And I wouldn't mind paying a little for it.

Whoa...wtf, the people in that footage are getting 125 score per kill....why isn't that in the final game? Why purposely make TDM/FFA slower paced?

Gee how many times did we hear full multiplayer experience on a Nintendo platform, zombies FULL FORCE, etc. Really how many times does he say full call of duty experience on wii u...in November. What month is it?

"Zombies will be back and better than ever, we don't have any reveals today, but stay tuned they'll be coming soon, but what we do have will be in full force on the wii u." That sounds an awful lot like a promise for fair treatment to Nintendo console owners. Unless full force means no nuketown or dlc...
