Too many EMP Grenades, tuttets, guardians, Dragonfires and AGRs become useless -.-'

Posted by LucaPac on Feb 2, 2013 4:12 PM

To A-Trey-U and the people of BO2 team

It's almost impossible to use turrets, guardians, AGR and so on, there are always too many EMP grenades in the matches, 2 EMP grenades are too many, they can be launched very far away and their range of action it's too wide.

IMHO you should to move EMP grenades from tactical grenades to letal grenades or reduce their launch range and their action range and last but not leat you should change the position between flashbang grenade and EMP grenade, I mean the flashbang should be unlocked at the current level of the EMP grenade and vice versa

IMHO

Thank you

PS: it's not easy to get a turret, a dragonfire or an AGR, it' very very very frustrating too see them destroyed after few seconds by a stupid grenade

I agree 100%. I honestly think EMP's are too OP (and I personally use them)

1 hit kill to Guardians and SG... pathetic

    I disagree.

The EMP grenade is the only way you can destroy a Sentry Gun quickly and safely in this game. Treyarch did some serious buffing on them compared to past CoDs; not only are they invincible to knives, but there is also NO perk to counter them. Blind Eye, you say? Read the perk's description carefully. It says that the perk protects from enemy air support. Air support, not ground support.

Nerf the EMP grenade and the Sentry Gun becomes way too powerful.

Missile launchers suck in this game. Their inconsistency is just astounding.

You know what could be done to balance it, but not make it totally useless. Just make them a 2 grenade kill for the Guardian, Sentry Gun, AGR, Dragonfire. 1 hit for stuff like the RCXD and equipment. Plus another thing that could be done it to allow the blast radias to not go through walls. You don't know how many times I've seen a sentry gun with my engineer perk and I just threw an EMP grenade in its general direction and destroyed it. I agree the emp grenades are too strong, but lets not just nerf them so much they are utterly useless.

IMO The only thing wrong with it is the blast radius.

I've been EMPd when I wasc underground on Hijacked and no one was down there because they can go through walls.  One guy with a EMP and scavenger equates to a 6 man party spamming concussions with scavengers.

I disagree. I've played many domination matches where teams set up fortresses of guardians and sentrys and without the ease of throwing a EMP half way across the map we wouldn't have a chance.

I'll have to kindly disagree with you. I play domination and its rare to see emp grenades take over. I've never had an AGR destroyed with an EMP grenade before getting at least 1 kill. Lots of times I've tried to EMP grenade them and they kill me first. Very fari. Same with sentry gun, never had one destroyed at all by and EMP grenade. NEVER! I've used both many times and if you can position the sentry gun well and guard it EMP grenaders get cut down before they have a chance. Guardian not always but still very effective. The dragonfire is easier to kill with gunfire. And there's always the trophy system. Not sure what mode you're playing that might make a difference though.

You're just lucky then, emp grenades destroy my stuff all the time, their blast radius is pretty far too so postioning doesn't really matter all the time.

There really is a simple way of balancing this stuff out. I havent run any of the above mentioned scorestreaks in ages, they're pretty useless and get put down pretty quickly.

Make blind eye make you immune to being targetted by sentry guns and AGRs (only AI controlled btw), since blind eye sucks anyways.

Make tact mask more resistant against the guardian (because tact mask isnt that great anyways, I mean dont get me wrong its useful at what it does, but shock charges concussions and flashes arent even that common in my experience).

Make Hardwired protect your equipment from EMP nades (not the streak though).

Problems solved. The dragonfire isnt too hard to shoot down anyways.

Still it doesnt stop you from being hacked by the blackhat xD but they generally need engineer to be useful anyways.

This also gives you more reason to manually control the sentry gun (why you need to apart from the emblem is way beyond me).

But yeah, as it stands the above scorestreaks are so useless and I never run them.

I agree with all of these, athough I think none of these effects should be absolute, complete, guaranteed counters that give the countered equipment no chance of doing its intended purpose. Kinda like engineer delaying explosives instead of them not detecting you whatsoever.

      • Blind Eye (or engineer) should delay detection from sentries and AGRs.
      • Hard Wired should reduce the effects of all equipment-countering tacticals on your own equipment:
        • EMP grenades severly damage and temporarly disable scorestreaks, but affect equipment normally.
        • Black Hats do the same; severly damage and temporarly disable scorestreaks, but destroys equipment instead of turning them against the original user. Also prevents Black Hats from booby-trapping care packages, but does not prevent Engineer users from booby-trapping CPs manually.
        • All equipment trigger both of a Trophy System's charges, destroying the TS by sacrificing only 1 equipment instead of 2.
      • Tactical Mask should protect you from the slowing/disorienting effects of guardians, but still take damage from them.

dump a trophy system by your sentry gun/guardian.

i only play dom, and its rare that i see EMP grenades, i have a emp class just incase the enemy team set up a horde of sentry guns and or guardians around the flags. takes too much time and ammo to shoot them

I use EMP Grenades, yep def overpowered, i use then to locate people in buildings, destroy sentry guns, agr, gaurdians, and tacts. if theres a trophy system ill throw my emp on the ground behind a wall and destroy the trophy system with the emp. Who needs a flashbang when you can stun through walls.

I just throw them at the enemy for them lovely assist points, especially fun on Hijacked where you can gain like 200 points in assists from 1 EMP nade. Sacvenger it and repeat the process.

I dont know how I did it but I stopped a hell storm with one emp greande last game, trying to find the footage of it to see how I did it but the footage doesnt start til after I did it. My guess, I emp the guy calling the strike.

if you get lucky with the timing the emp nade will destroy hellstorms and hunterkillers(including from swarms) before they explode/hit you. as well as equipment still in the air when they are just released.
