Which has the advantage? -Connection

Posted by Bergoo on Feb 2, 2013 9:24 AM

We all know about lag compensation, and how it can look like your getting killed around a corner. But, which of the two get the advantage, a good connection or a bad connection? Is it the people who are lagging that get the compensation time to be able to kill the people with a faster connection? or the other way around?

Lower connections don't have an advantage.

Do you seriously need more proof? Why do you keep insisting even with all the evidence that has been shown.

You showed a killcam, which is far from "proof"

I've played on 1/2/3 bars before and I always get better scores on 4.  There's a noticeable delay in your bullets registering on a 1/2 bar, and on a 3 bar you get shot around corners alot. Far from an "advantage".

Its not the killcam, its the fact that I had my shield up and also on the killcam I doesnt show I had my shield up so the fact is the killcam is exactly what the other player saw. I am not just talking about my experience, I am showing evidence, and there is more videos.

Who said the killcam is what the player saw? Countless times I've gotten a final killcam with Wiimote, and when I watch it I go: "that's not what happened on my screen". Killcams are created with the info that the host recieved (I think), therefore making them highly inacurate.

However, I see your point and it has certain validity to it.

I have seen worst than that a lot of times been 3 bars. I can't count how many times I jump into a guy, hit him first with 2 hitmarkers, keep aiming perfect, and finish up dead. When I get 4 bars the game gets a lot easier. The only 4 bars I don't like, is been Host.

I don't know, feels like it's neither, when the host migration decides to drop my connection to 1 bar, happens quite often with the HM, I definately can't fight back at all, no damage can be dealt by my shots and I get damage before seeing anyone.

Same goes on sometimes when I get 4bar connection, I'm at disadvantage against people with less than 4bars.

Forget what some of these clowns have posted, I can tell you with absolute confidence based on extensive research into this topic that the person with 4 bars has the advantage.

With regards to getting shot behind walls, it's equal. The 4 bar guy will get shot behind walls the 'same amount' as the 1 bar guy. Where you start seeing the 4 bar guy having the advantage is in stuff like how long it takes him to get hitmarkers, how long it takes him to open doors, how long it takes for him to start taking care packages/plant bombs/etc and how long it takes for him to use equipment.

In all the above cases, it will be faster for the 4 bar player to do than the 1 bar player. Thus, the 4 bar player has the advantage.

From my experience I rarely get shot around corners when I get a 4 bar match. On 3 bars, using cover is almost impossible. The bullets always follow you.

Well it depends who else is in the match. If you have 4 bars and a guy wth 1 bar is on the enemy team, you will get shot around corners. It's the nature of the way lag compensation works.

How many bars you have is only half the story.

Advantage changes in the game constantly.
