FAL now has more recoil.

Posted by Gregdpw on Jan 30, 2013 9:17 AM

This is a bummer about the FAL!  The gun with select fire was awesome. Has anyone tryed it yet after the new patch?  And big differences?

Didn't really feel much different to me. It's still a beast and will own late unlocks all day long when in capable hands. I wouldn't worry too much about treyarch's nerfed nerfs.

Honest question, why do you use select fire. It is way slower and less accurate

I like to use a combo of both full auto and burst.  If a guy is dancing around then full auto is the way to go but for stationary targets, I prefer the accuracy and firerate of bursting it.  I'm curious to see how the FAL plays tonight.

Yeah i am a pro cause i think that select fire is a useless attachment. Give me a break, just asking the dude a question.

its actually very good on the fal, thats why they keep nerfing it. it is useless on every other weapon tho. the rof and range penalty is very small so its worth the added ease of being able to spray down moving targets. full auto is always easier to use than semi auto even for a legendary mlg pro like yourself...

Hmmm, not so IMO. Select fire on say, the M8 with silencer and grip......that can be deadly as well. I think you should try that out on more guns before you generalize.

who's to say i didnt try it out? dnt assume... m8a1 suffers a huge range penalty with select fire and thats why i dont like it. besides the biggest advantage of the m8 is its 4 round burst mode, why waste a extra point just to make it a type 25 with less range and no headshot multiplier? no need for me to give up range and the ability to let off 8 to 12 bullets in the blink of an eye just so i can hold down the trigger. unlike the m8a1, the fal doesnt suffer too much from select fire, and thats why they keep nerfing it.

because you can burst fire or single shoot it.  it's what ppl are used to doing.

The FAL is a great gun but i'm on the SMR now. That gun gets head shots like crazy. Yes, it does fire a bit slower with switch than the FAL but the stopping power is second to none. PLus, the patch added EVEN more head shot bonus to the gun which I don't really understand but hey, i'm working on it now so i'll take it !

Oh yeah. It's the FAL's big brother IMO. Even with a silencer, you can take players out from across the map.

ive only used the gun in private game, just to see how it fired, though i notice a difference in recoil, i didnt find it to be too crazy , still very managable..

I love this gun, i did spend an unlock on this gun, but I have to say the FAL with select fire is not highly respected ( though I use it because im not concerned with respect lol).. id say use it without select fire

SMR is basically a slower verison of the FAL.  FAL is overall better than the SMR.

Totally disagree. FAL= 3 shot kills, SMR= 2 shot kills. SMR is a fraction slower but has more damage and range. Plus they buffed its penetration damage. It is a way better gun than the FAL

FAL is also 2 shot kill, well up close.  They both deal 55 damage max after the patch.

The main difference is that the FAL has a faster rate of fire, a larger magazine, a faster reload time, and less recoil, while the SMR has a FAR longer damage range.

I think after the patch the hip spread on the two are similar, so it is still tolerable.

FAL feels exactly the same to me with Select Fire. I'm not mad at the patch at all.

I used the FAL with select fire a lot and it was awesome at range but I cant understand why they nerfed it again. Its first nerf was necessary as it had zero recoil but I think they should have left it at that. I die a lot more to people using an LMG with target finder at range than the FAL so I cant really understand why the full-auto FAL needed this extra recoil.

Putting on Select Fire on a powerful semi-auto/burst fire weapon, whose strength is meant to be power and accuracy at the cost of fire rate, with little actual recoil increase coupled with KEEPING that power and range while making it extremely easy to use unbalances it which is why it got nerfed. Using just 1 point doesn't really affect anyone that much either unless they want to have a really expanded class type.

Still, as I keep saying, I find Select Fire on semi-auto/burst fire weapons to be more lazy than OP. Rather than actually try to aim at pick their shots like a pseudo-sniper, people would rather just spray and pray as always. The big difference is that this spray and pray has a lot more power behind it than other ARs.

Seemed to me it had alot more recoil, which sucks because that gun was great to use. Smr with select is now my go to, until ofcourse they nurf that.

And maybe once they are done nurfing everything, they can give us a water gun in the dlc so maybe we can drown people to kill them.

they have a shotgun that can kill in one shot at like 100 yards but you take my sweet Fal and make it worthless.  this is the reason i will not buy your dumb map pack. soon the call of duty rain will be over im getting fed up with this crap. you want to fix something fix campers. people are also running around the map shooting full auto sniper rifles with almost no kick. when i started playing COD u needed some type of skill to snipe fix that

The fal has been my go to gun since the start and can definitely say it a whole lot jumper post patch, to the point where my love affair with it has sadly ended. These days it's all about the smr with select fire. Slower rate of fire but deadly accurate at range. I feel like I've left my wife for a mistress, but it just feels so right...

I haven't noticed much difference to be honest.

I often use FAL with Select Fire, but never hold down R1 for too long. It's only ever used for a 3-4 round burst. I find it easier to move while aiming when firing in bursts rather than moving while tapping R1 in semi-auto mode.

Always use the FAL (Without select fire) , I haven't noticed more recoil. Will have have to try with select fire on tonight. Will also have to try the SMR people have mentioned! (Thx for that tip)

The recoil has only been added when using with SF, so you won't notice any difference.

Grip does nothing. SMR has less recoil, but the FAL is still super easy to control. The recoil it has is only directly upwards, very easy to counter and you can still get easy longhots with it. I don't use it with select fire anymore, but I tried it to see if it was still super OP and yep, it still needs more nerfs.
