155,000 online and I can't find a game post 1.06 patch

I don't live in the US.

 

I was playing last night a few hours before the patch came out and had no problem finding matches in mercenary moshpit (what I play 99% of the time).

 

After the patch I couldn't find a single game to play on across any of the three search modes. I know Mercenary has a small playerbase and with the patch out I just figured not many people had it and that was causing me to sit in the lobby unable to find a game to join.

 

I spent the next 15 minutes cycling between TDM, Domination, Merc Mosh, GW and KC trying to find a game on "normal" search and apart from one 2 bar GW game (which I played till the end despite the connection) turned up nothing.

 

This evening I cannot find a game in Merc Moshpit or even TDM. Found one TDM game with 5 other players on it.

 

Seriously what did you guys do to the matchmaking??? Up until now I've never had an issue finding a Mercenary Moshpit game at anytime of the day. Now I haven't been able to find one a single game in nearly 24 hours. And I can't even find a scrub TDM match lobby to join in the meantime...

 

Not even a clan pubstomping one where everyone quits!

 

I don't remember 1.04 (even right after the patch was initially deployed) having this issue so I'm guessing this is something to do with the whole continent restrictions? Think you guys might have messed up Asia..

    I just played  two matches went to smoke. Came back and tried to Find Match, just sat in a lobby with the time ticking and it searching for matches and players. Nothing, back to Netflix. This was in the Chaos Playlist w/ 6000+ people.

      I'm sitting here with my back to the TV waiting to hear someting. Been about 15 minutes now and not one person has even joined the lobby...

       

      I'm starting to think I've been country locked (nobody in my country plays COD, I mostly wind up playing with the Japanese but seem to have been locked out now).

        I'm in the U.S., so that may not be it. There must be something screwed up.

          Something is very much off with that last patch, i've seen friends getting server disconnected, allot of lag spikes mid game.

           

          Went to play zombies with a friend, had a blast.

        If you change your search perference to Any you will bypass the continent lock.

    When you say all the search methods your refering to the Best connection, Any connection or whatever the third one was, correct. If not then remember having Best now will only find people in your area and try to find the best/lowest ping in that area. Any is still worldwide and you could effectively be matched up with a dialup connection in theory. Not sure where your from but maybe there isn't a large number of people playing right now in your area. Try to set it to Any. If you've already done this then I don't know what to say. I had no issues but I am in the US.

      Any has found a lobby... with four people in it.

       

      Looks like I'm going to be playing COD against randoms from all around the world as opposed to people near my area as it was before.

       

      Greeeeeeeeeeaaat.

       

      PS. Turned PS3 on about an hour ago and have played 1 game of "any" TDM.

       

      Prior to 1.06 had no troubles playing 4 bar Merc Moshpit 24/7.

        That's because prior to the patch setting the search to Best check the lowest ping no matter where it was. Now Best looks for local ONLY. How far the radius is I have no idea.

        Lol playing 2 bar lobby with Australians... thousands of KM away. And everyone has a 2-3bar except host.

          Like I said I don't know where your from but hopfully during the day there are more people in your region.

            Hopefully... pre 1.06 I never had an issue finding a 4 bar Merc Moshpit game any time of the day and merc is one of the least played gamemodes.

             

            Infact I haven't even seen a Japanese lobby post patch despite the world map showing Japan at its usual level of brightness. I hope they didn't isolate Japan as they are the biggest COD community in Asia (and I 4 bar to their lobbies so am basically be unable to play without them).

      Maybe you did search preference for Best which searches for the closest players so try to change the prefence.

    I know this is gonna suck for people from BFN but... I would have expected this.

     

    Many people around the world have changed their prefs to BEST. This would make sense that people from remote areas would have a harder time to find lobbies filling up even if they have their prefs to ANY (because the people in dense areas will fill the lobbies up faster, not allowing someone from BFN to find said lobby).

     

    People from BFN have the right to play for sure, but being matched with anyone comes at a price of potentially ruining the experience of others (increased lag, and compensation).

     

    This is of course just logical theory... but it does make sense in a way.

      I have had no problems playing Mercanary at 4bar since launch... until 1.06 came out last night.

       

      Seriously I haven't been able to get into a single Mercenary lobby all night tonight. I'm talking not even one (at any latency) whilst searching on "any".

       

      Getting kind of sick of playing TDM. What I have noticed with the TDM lobbies is that they appear to be pretty localised. Japan has more players than the rest of Asia combined and I haven't seen one Japanese looking player name all night.

       

      I really hope Asian countries aren't being counted as continents in and of themselves... I want my game mode variety back without the pubstomp crap!

    I have the same problem.  I dont live in the US and few people play COD in my country or have really bad connections.  Before patch 1.06  I searched for Normal connection games and could easily find Ground War lobbies and get 3 yellow bars ( still playable).  After patch 1.06, if I search for Normal connections it takes hours to find a couple of players.  If I search for Any connections, I'm only able to get into matches after several minutes with 2 yellow bars (unplayable).

     

    Activision, plz return to the previous match making system!!!

    Is less than 200k are online then expect to have issues. It was hard finding a good match with 500k, let alone 200k

      I've never had a problem since launch getting a 4bar game in Merc, until I downloaded 1.06.

        I wish more people played merc but when there's only about 1000 people playing it I can't get a decent lobby connection wise.  I usually only wait 10 to 15 seconds but once the match starts half of us may have 4 bars and the rest 3 or 2 at best.  Which translates into lagfest.

      Been a bit better tonight. Been able to get into some 4 bar Merc games with familiar names.

       

      I'm guessing the code got tweaked again or patch propagation?
