Weapon challenges are too easy/fast

Posted by Lightwhistle on Dec 30, 2012 4:14 PM

Hey guys, I was working on headshots for my assault rifles earlier today (trying to get diamond ARs), and I realized that whenever I get a gun gold, I immediately move onto the next one. This made me realize that all of the gun challenges are really easy and can be completed very quickly. For example, lets say you have a gun at weapon level 1. By the time you get the gun gold, you could easily have it Prestige 2 max level. It's possible to get a gold gun in two days if you want to, so really all the "______ Mastery" calling cards show is two days worth of work. Hardly seems like that counts as mastering a weapon. Same thing for Scorestreaks. The highest calling card only requires that you get 50 kills with that scorestreak. 50 kills doesn't really prove much.

I think that Treyarch needs to learn from IW and make Prestige challenges that will actually take a while, maybe even a prestige or two, to achieve. The 2500 kills title and the 1000 headshots title are great examples. Most people wouldn't be able to get the 2500 kills within 2-3 days, and people definitely couldn't get the 1000 headshots within a few days. These are gun titles that I would be proud to show off, because they are much harder to get. A Mastery title that takes two days to unlock doesn't give you much pride to show off. Scorestreaks should be the same way. The Pointstreak titles in MW3 are another great example. 1000 kills with one pointstreak is definitely something to be proud of, yet currently you can only show off that you've gotten atleast 50 kills with one. Seems kind of silly.

So, in a nutshell, I think that Treyarch needs to add some more advanced challenges/calling cards for weapons and scorestreaks. I'm not saying they have to be exactly like IWs, but I definitely think they could learn a lesson or two from them. Thoughts?

I personally think they are just fine. Taking me a while to complete them.

Yeah they are fine as they are.

If anything I miss the challenges in racking up x amount of kills with a particular weapon from all the other games.

I also think more challenges should have more tiers to complete.

"noob" or not.... its called a challenge for a reason. should be someone challenging for everyone not just the |"noobs," with that said i do agree their should be more tiers for each weapon.

A real challenge would be like to have 70%+ accuracy on sniper rifles after 300 kills etc.  All these challenges do is show off people who may only play BO2.  If you don't have a family, girlfriend, a job or whatever and only play COD these long 'challenges' that IW have done in the past aren't really difficult except a few.  Only one that sticks out is emptying a whole magazine from an LMG without missing from MW3.  How many people earned that legitimately?  Not many.  Now that is a challenge even if it wasn't for weapon camo.  Weapon camo is only an aesthetic thing...

I don't think I ever met someone that got the Dictator Title in either MW2 or MW3 legitly.  I am not saying it couldn't be done, but it is nearly impossible.

I think the only way it's possible in MW3 is to use an LMG against a Support Juggernaut but you have to let the Juggernaut's health regenerate four times I think.  I haven't come across anyone in-game with that emblem.  I thought that challenge was ridicuolous tbh and if they're stupidly hard then I think people will just end up boosting for it.  I just think there are other ways to define challenges besides a high number of kills.  That way you're not just rewarding players who may spend a lot of time on this game.  Then may be more people will play for fun rather than be grinding until the next COD game is out.

My only issue with the MW3 setup on weapon challenges is I think all weapons had the same number of kills so it overly favoured SMGs and ARs.  If it was scaled by weapon category I wouldn't have minded too much.  And I no longer get a slightly aching left thumb from levelling up the SRs in this game.

"Not only is it frustrating for players because the game will get very boring, but it will hurt Treyarch because what point will there be to playing?"

Uhh i dunno, maybe play for fun?

i think there are far better chalanges out there. like opperations, master of humiliation and master killer. these gun challanges are still better than golding a gun in say MW3 when all that took was score.

Get the master of humiliation & the precision calling cards and then say they are too easy. Golding a gun, sure aint too hard, if you want a harder gold challenge try the assault shield.

In my opinion, some guns may take a while. Today I was working on the SWAT Assault Rifle, and it was taking me a long time to earn headshot medals.

so nobody wants to point out the obvious?

people like you (presumably) that already have 10-11+ days played in 2 months.... since when is this game just about you? im not going to go as far as saying people like this have no life and want this game to compensate.. but i guess i just did... lol

a huge number of bo2 players will never have that much time to invest in getting most of these... i for one will never see a diamond camo simply because i dont play nearly enough, and even if i did, i wouldnt want to waste my time grinding through weapons i dont want to use to begin with..

there are already enough challenges to keep you "hardcore" players busy... no need to keep things out of reach of 90% of the people playing

I can only play about 6 hours a week, so for me the weapon challenges are not too easy...the challeges have nothing to do with how good you are.  Just a measure of how much time you spend playing.  That ugly diamond camo just says "I have no life and play too much".  The other cammos look way better.

If I had nore time I would go for the "master of humiliation" playercard and forget the weapon challenges.  I think that one is better hard to get.

They should make a cammo that you could only get if k/d is over 1.5 and if goes below you lose it.

Not sure about them all being too easy. I'm going to have to go to HCKC to do the S12 and M1216 to finish the OHKs.

I wouldn't say they are too easy as much as saying that boosters ruined diamond camo

You have diamond LMGs?  Or going easy mode on the ARs and SMGs?

LMGs are pretty easy to max out. It helps that there is only four of them.

Heck, the most diffucult gun that I've gotten gold so far was the S12. That gun took even longer than the Executioner.

Good. Grinding is boring. I'm prestige 7 and got diamond snipers, shotguns, and assault rifles. Couldn't be happier to get them so fast. Besides, it's not really that fast though. Apart from snipers, which are the easiest to get gold at 400-500 kills, I usually got gold around my 1k kill mark with each gun.

I wish the pistol challenges were easier, though. Getting kills isn't too bad, but they seem a lot harder to get headshots with.

You've got to be joking right? What's the point in putting in bling camo if only a select few that have more time on their hands than others can get it?

It took me over 1k kills on each smg when I went for smg bling, not the simplest feat for anyone to run around with no perks/attachments for 150 kills either, plus the headshot grind.

If you want a harder challenge there's plenty to choose from so after you've completed all of the following come back and make another post:-

operations master, master of humiliation, master killer, precision master, primary master, secondary master

Oh that's right just incase I miss it I'll say ok complete all of these too:-

TDM Master,FFA Master,DOM Master,SnD Master,CtF Master,HQ Master,DEM Master, HP Master, KC Master, Sharpshooter Master,Sticks n Stones Master, One in the chamber Master, Gun Game Master.

Still looking for a challenge? Get in the top 100 for every leaderboard, top league in league play, take up competitive gaming and make a career out out of it too.

I think FFA master is harder

That one also needs a 20 kill streak, out of a thirty kill game. At least with TDM, you could have less skilled players on your team.

I've had TDM master for a long while now. It's not that hard. Just need to play a lot of games. FFA master is probably harder...might not be though. DO you know if you need the second nuke emblem in FFA to get that one?

Guns challenges are fine, but why no calling cards for 1000 kills with whatever scorestreak?   ...the calling cards for 50 kills with a killstreak is not very impressive.

Sure, keep the 50 kill one, but add another layer of depth to if

Also, why the random 300 kills for B. betties?  Personally, I want a sexier betty for 1000

Dude, get diamond on Specials, Launchers, and Pistols before you try to say they're too easy. Pistols have the exact same requirement as AR's. Try to go get 100 headshots with the Executioner and see how long it takes you. Then get 150 with it with no perks/attachments and see how long that takes you. Then come back here and say it was too easy.

I wouldn't mind some challenges for getting high kill counts with each weapon, but I like the challenges in this game because there is an end in sight. In previous CoD's, there simply was no way to ever complete all the challenges... ever... unless you lived in mom's basement, worked part-time, and did nothing but play CoD.

I also hate how MW always just requires nothing but headshots to get camo. I love how BO makes you complete multiple challenges to get a reward.

there is the million dollar statement... unfortunately... that decribes a good chunk of COD players..

thats apparent from the kids online at 11am on a tuesday that already has over 11 days played in 2 freaking months..

i dont care what justification you have... if you have that much time to play this damn game, something is missing in your life... like a job or actual responsibilities!

The launchers are actually really easy to get diamond.  They were my first class to get there (being only three options made it quicker of course), but I'd have had them even sooner if there wasn't that glitch when the game came out (launchers weren't leveling properly, and when it was fixed you didn't get credit for all their previous usage).

Pretty much be "that guy" on the team who shoots down everything.  We're over two months into the game, and I've gone back to playing with the FHJ simply because almost nobody on my team will shoot down enemy air support (UAV/CUAV, Stealth Choppers, Escort Drones, even Dragonfire).  Seeing as I usually run with Ghost, its only benefit for me is the points towards my next scorestreak.  If anything it helps save *their* lives more than not.  Some people ***** about enemies calling up constant UAV/CUAV, I say bring it on, more points for me.
