Call of Boosting?

Posted by AConfusedYeti on Dec 28, 2012 7:14 AM

Have I missed something? For the past week, I cannot go 2 games without getting in a lobby with boosters. I do my civic duty and report them just once, I know reporting someone 20 times looks bad. I even follow them around for the rest of the game and make sure they cannot easily boost. But I am not the boosting police. I have a newborn and don't get a lot of gaming time anymore. When I do, it would be nice if every lobby didn't have boosters in it. I really wish Treyarch would do something about this. This is the worst I have ever seen it out of any COD game. Has anyone else seen this a lot recently? Does Treyarch even know what to do? The ban hammer really needs to make an appearance.

I've only seen it once (on Black Ops 2) on a TDM game and I play pretty much every game mode out there.  I would have to say MW2 was the worst game by far for boosting.  Every single free for all game I would go in...would have boosters.  Free for all turned into "booster hunting" for me.  I haven't played any of the CODs before MW2, so I can't give a legit opinion about boosting on those.

Boosting happened in CoD 4 Cage match. Really common from what I remember (Never really played CoD 4). In WaW, there was nothing to boost for and no real easy way to do it.

A fairly simple way to stop boosting would be to take out Tac Inserts in future CoDs. It's prety much the only reason why it happens. I know people use Tac Inserts properly, but like One Man Army, it's just so easily abused.

I also think any boosters should, after they've been reset, have their Tac Insets unable to be put on a class.

CoD4 and MW2 cage match boosting doesn't bother me. And in WaW I always used to get "boosting lobby" messages. But boosting in public matches with legit players due to tac inserts since MW2 is garbage. I agree get rid of them.

In waw boosters would team up, play Dom, meet at b, and take turns capping the flag. Cod 3 had em too. People will always find an cheap and easy way to boost. Tac insert is the problem and removing it would not stop ppl from finding another way to get cheap points. But a least the flag boosters weren't  getting friggin dogs and VTOLs

I have over 8 days play time and play all match modes quite a bit and have only seen boosters one time. It was HC TDM too. They were using tac inserts. I sufficiently hampered their boosting efforts enough that towards the 2nd half of the game they started playing legit.

Sadly I was kicked during the 2nd half of the game for having to team kill the guy on my team who was in on it. I uploaded the game vid from a friend who was in the match to watch the full game and after I was booted they surprisingly stopped boosting.

    I did report them too.

The only way to stop boosting, or at least seriously limit it, is to remove tac inserts from the game. Until then, boosting will always be an issue.

I got in a anti-boosting match yesterday. And after the match I hear a guy on the other team mistake me for boosting because I kept sniffing the boosters out and ignoring the objective. So during my policing I probably got a couple boosting reports. garbage.....

Not really garbage at all. Instead of playing the objective you opted for a broken sense of vigilantism. Next time you should ignore them, report them at the end of the game and then encourage the rest of the lobby to report them also.

Kind of hard to go for the objective in DOM when the boosters are filling the game with kill streaks.  Just saying....

Easier said then done in the midst of war. Its still garbage to be possibly reported for boosting if I wasn't. But I do agree with and will try your buddhist approach to boosters next time.

Fox, im not too happy with the fact that you want us to ignore them. It makes me seem like this is a non issue for the treyarch team. I mean i enjoy getting head shots for guns legit, but if it is that easy to boost, then i can completly understand why so many do it.

In the past 4 call of duty games This issue has not been dealt with... I am just so tired of cheaters in call of duty and many other online games.

Treyarch needs to think of a way to make tac inserts not work when an enemy is so many feet away from him/her. or better yet, they need to make it so if the same person kills someone from a tac insert more then 3 times in a row that they get a 2 day ban, then a perm ban.

Or even better yet... take tac inserts out of the game... i enjoyed useing  them for domination games, but like all good things, they must get broken from cheaters.

The distance thing would be handled quickly, the boosters would just sit far enough apart to do it anyway.  Tougher, but probably not difficult to accomplish.  Killing someone who tac insert spawned 3 times in a row?  Tough call on that one.  Might have to add some location or timing factors into such a rule.

If tac inserts can't be removed in future titles (like they should be), then I can see having a system in which if you get killed 3 or more times within 'x' feet of your tac insert and/or within 'x' amount of time of re-spawning at a tac insert point, then you randomly spawn elsewhere and can't use TI for the rest of the match.

The in game reporting system has BOOSTING as an option to report a player. Use that to notify Treyarch of Boosters. You don't need to report them more than once, and certainly don't waste your gaming time following them around. Report, and move on.

I'll be honest - the way I see it if someone goes booster busting and prevents them from getting dogs/swarms/whatever, it makes MY life a lot easier when I'm playing the game.

Camo boosting, well, whatever. So long as they dont call in any killstreaks I guess that puts both teams in the same boat. Give em a 1v1 cage match so they can do their thing in there. I object to being hit by killstreaks gained by it, which can easily change the way a match is going. Why should I get hammered by killstreaks and lose a match due to someone cheating?

Give em cage matches and let them keep to themselves - I dont care about what other people have stat wise, calling card wise or camo wise. I care about having a fairly fought match.

Personally I do not mind Boosters as they usually stay out of my way.

However last night I was in a game of Demolition and this guy was getting Stealth Chopper, Dogs and Swarm out of no where.

Their stats where normal but I reported both for Boosting and finished the game. He finished 244-2.

    All because of Tactical Insertion.

I had Blind Eye and Cold Blooded on so the stealth chopper and swarm wasnt hitting me but the dogs are very annoying when using an M8 burst lol.

i love making it hard for them for that reason right there. Trying to claim they call in all those kill streaks when they realy didnt earn them.

I see them a lot in hardcorde KC. Seems like the last 4 out of 10 games there were some. I just reported and moved on.

I report boosters as well but I also make it my mission to interrupt their little love fests as well.

EMP nades take care of the tac inserts and then I hound them relentlessly. Had one end up TKing me then his buddy TKed out of the game as well. Thats when the friends feature works great because you can then stalk them into their next game. Unfortunately of the last 6 boosters I reported none have been reset as far as I can tell.

Anyone saying that removing Tac Inserts will stop boosting you are living in a delusion.

Boosters will just find ANOTHER way to cheat. Tac Inserts are just a faster way to boost but nothing different.

BTW I came across my first set of boosters two nights ago. I sent them a message saying "Enjoy your reset"
