Why Call of Duty Elite has gotten worse since MW3

Posted by PROSCLANSOURCE on Jan 16, 2013 8:34 PM

Since the time that it was announced that Call of Duty: Elite would be made free, the overall product value has gone exponentially down. Not only is there absolutely no reason to do the main thing elite was advertised and pushed for, there is no incentive to even have elite.

The main thing to have elite and the main reason elite was pushed, was because of clans. When introduced in late black ops, and early MW3 call of duty elite was the place to go for starting and building a clan. You could start by having you in your buddies in the clan and in time, have up to 100 members. With joining the clan, they could compete in clan operation to level up the clan and get xp and as they would rank up, they would get rewards for doing so. Not just the clan page, but the actual members in the clan. When leveling up your clan you would receive: 1. a calling card for your title with your clan level on it, 2. A gold clan tag, 3 a background for the clan page 4. and most importantly - double xp.

Double xp was the main incentive for players to join clans and compete to rank up, as every player wants double xp. However, now in Black ops 2 elite, the only reward you get for ranking up the clan is a gold clan tag (which has issues, and disappears constantly)  and a background for the clan page. Since there is no double xp to get, players now have no incentive to play clan operations. The average call of duty player would not compete in a clan operation just to get a clan background and a gold clan tag, as the average call of duty player is selfish and would rather just get the double xp.

Another area that elite has dropped the ball in is in advertising for the clan. As their are no more comment section on clan operation/challenge pages. Yes, the constant advertisement of "join my clan" did get annoying at times, it was also the only way to advertise your clan and let people find out about your clan. Since that is now gone, how are people going to find your clan? Are you just going to hope to god that they magically search your clan name and hit apply? Or are you supposed to go all these random people and mass invite them? This system is really flawed and adds unneeded hardship for a person to trying to start and build his clan.

Since this is your first post you may want to review this thread which lays out most of the issues with elite. Everything you have said has been noted numerous times in the forums. Try searching next time.

You recruit and expose your clan on the forums in the recruiting section. That's what most people are doing, and it does work. I never really cared for all the spam that I saw in the comments section on operations and challenges.

I think the only reason people are so picky about BO2 is because they expect this one to be up to COD4's standards. People have hightened their expectations since mw2 and the last 3 have been lower than expectation.

That's funny, I would be happy with equal to MW3. System freeze from BO2 and no support from Beachhead. It's a shame, my expectations are so low now that I just want what works, forget improvements. That's sad.

Sadly enough, equal to MW3 is a bar set too high, imo. I'd like to see "skill-based matchmaking" go to the wayside. Connection-based matchmaking would make a HUGE difference in Black Ops 2 gameplay. Beachhead, and their two month absence, isn't talking or doing anything of note. We're stuck in this mess until Activision decides to put someone else in charge of ELITE or just scrap it altogether. I'd like one of those two things to happen soon. The situation we're in can't last for much longer.

It is definitely annoying that we have a team for 7 months then black ops 2 shows up and you can't do anything on elite.  Bad business to people who paid for premium or hardened editions like i did.  All activision says is they are aware and working on the pro problem.  To be honest i don't think they know how to fix it
