What could IW do with MW4 to catch up with Black Ops 2?

Posted by FixBlops2 on Jan 17, 2013 12:45 AM

Black Ops 2 is a almost perfect game and its hard to find a real issue in the game mechanics and balance. I don't wanna talk about the network issues some have so please don't mention the lag for once, lets focus on the game mechanics, balance, and all the details that come with the game.

How can Infinity Ward catch up with Black Ops 2? i personally think its not possible to beat BO2 in term of quality. Infinity Ward games are always unbalanced and filled with cheap stuff like deathstreaks and overpowered weapons, by overpowered i am talking about a weapon that is far superior to all the others, don't be confused with overused.

What do you think, can IW catch up with BO2 succes? and what do they have to do to beat BO2? bringing Specialist back? new gamemodes? complete new game mechanics?

I personally think that if MW4 is just like MW3 but with new Killstreaks and Perks then it will be a total failure for me, i expect much more content than the usual stuff, something that blows my mind.

Future title discussion is off topic. Way too early for this.

To be honest I hope they give the Modern Warfare series a rest and try something new.

You really need to change the word caught to catch in several places including your title.

I just want a new engine. BLOPS 1 and 2 look the same but of course are different. Since 3arc and IW dont work together and share innovations I expect to see MW3.5

They should drop the modern theme and go for a completely new direction with a complete new engine and mechanics (next year will be around the next gen consoles)

That quake engine from 2001 (?) is getting old, they need to make something for this time. I mean the engine and everything has been the same for so long, the only thing they do each year is retexture everything. Scorestreaks now are just our old killstreaks with a different look, the setup of maps is just as all the previous titles and most of the create-a-class items are the same.

Treyarch is making good progress in the zombie section, with the new mechanics as the bus and different gamemodes, but multiplayer needs the same fresh upgrade.

Quake engine? Where does it say that the game uses the 2001 Quake engine?

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011) - MW3 engine (Modified IW 4.0) is the one being used for MW3. The same has been used for all other COD titles, but with different modifications in each title.

      http://gamerant.com/black-ops-2-sales-call-of-duty-peaked/

was down 14%. i have no idea now.

      So... maybe.

I said it last year. MW3 will be the peak of the cod franchise. They implemented new systems (or something) that ruined the game for most people. causing distrust in die hard gamers. the only reason half the people are playing is because they are still holding on to MW2 and prior titles.

I know theres alot of people on my friendlist that stopped playing after many years with mw3(me being one). some started back up on bo2 but have since stopped again.

Alot of people gave this one a chance thinking they would learn from their mistakes, but i think after $120 in the game and map packs plus anything extra for mw3. and 60-100 for this broken game.

I can only imagine next title will not cought up to mw3 or bo2.

As far as the game mechanics goes. Its all opinion. the scorestreaks, smgs, shotguns, one shot sniper pistols, the aim assist actually directing you through a wall. the target finder. being able to shoot through any wall. Ghost having to move. hipfire, constant UAV's.

In my opinion, aside from the rediculous lag. Its the worst cod title i have personally played. It takes absoloutly no skill. and its lost all of it's competitivenes. that false sense of accomplishment when you win has been removed.

Pretty much this game must have been based around hipfired smgs.

Maybe they were trying to compete with halo.

But all in all I would still play it and buy the map packs if it werent for the 100+ms delay on a lan conection. but ill refrain per op's request.

I do look forward to the next gen consoles. even if reports show the hardware they plan on using is already outdated. maybe they can come up with a more efficiant way to send data. that plus more people on broadband internet. google will have 100+mbps soon. just you watch.

IW will never be the same without the OG members, IW was always ahead of Treyarch if it weren't for zombies i don't think treyarch would be hired to make games for activision.

The most they can do is try to give us something not as bad as mw3.

They were making CoD games before W@W. One of my faves was one that helped spring board the console portion of the franchise to where it is now.

well in all honesty, i can say I did have more fun in MW3 than I do in BO2..

i think that yes there were some OP weapons, but everyone had access to them.. you either close to use them or not.

i didnt see mW3 being anymore or less laggy than BO2.. the only huge problem IMO with Mw3 were the spawns.. there was sooo much spawn killing. it was stupid.. which killed the game

in Mw3  BLINDEYE ment BLINDEYE.. not like in Bo2 your only hidden from SOME score streaks

IW discontinuing the Modern Warfare series and coming up with something fresh would be a first to keep up with BO2.

Let's face it, the Modern Warfare series has become so stale that I honestly have no intention to purchasing another Modern Warfare game if say IW develop MW4.

BO2 is really pretty busted, I could release a turd in a dvd case and do better. My whole friends list that went from MW3 to BO2 quickly went right back.

The weapons seem balanced as there aren't that many of them to be honest. Even thenso, this game is heavily focused on attachments and that's were you tend to see the imbalanced aspects. Target finder/MMS are just a couple that the game could definitely live without.

The perk system was destroyed and watered down to the point that many got aggravated with them and quit.

BO2 game in general can be summed up in a "forced play style" game, and that's what's hurting it the most.

Sure the run and gunners probably love it, but anyone that doesn't want to run around like a headless chicken is probably very frustrated with the whole mechanics of the game.

Domination was completely destroyed in BO2. It is not NEARLY as fun as I remembered in MW3. Basically domination is now hardpoint 2.0 with a hardpoint that doesn't change or move.

Theatre mode, need I say more?

BO2 just fails on sooo many levels I couldn't even write it all out without making a wall of text that would blot out the sun. IW has little to no worries if they just read the reviews of those dealing with the tragedy of BO2.

I have always preferred the IW games to Treyarchs efforts - so I don't think any "catching up" will be required.

Roll on Modern Warfare 4 - I am ready now.

MW4 needs a new engine and more customization options. We love the emblem editor and putting it on our guns. I also liked the face paint from blops. Hardcore is the only way for me to enjoy these games cause you win the gun fights you are supposed to win the majority of the time. Core is very inconsistent. This engine has run it's course and to be honest the games look about the same since CoD 4.

Get rid of death streaks. Never bring back lethal support streaks. No more martyrdom, no more second chance.

Stop making stupidly powerful burst fire weapons.

    Agree with more customization.

If they're going to make stuns and flashes last half an hour, make a tactical mask that actually works. Blast shield pro was pretty useless for the several months I played before giving up on MW3 altogether.

    Stop making everything explode.

What they need to do is take a WHOLE YEAR off of making Call of Duty games. They need to sit down and look at the games that have been produced within the last 5-6 years. Insteading of pumping out crappy games they need to start improving them. I WAS NOT impressed by Black Ops 2. It seemed the graphics took a step backwards and so did the gameplay. I feel that the game was made for noobs.

This is my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
