Wireless vs Wired Connection

Posted by M4GNUM on Jan 10, 2013 4:31 PM

Which is better? I've heard some say wireless is better. I've heard some using the LAN adapter is better. Anyone know the exact answer?

BTW, I'm a US connection, NAT = open, strong internet, but can have up to 6 devices using wireless at any given point.

Thanks!

(sorry if this has already been addressed in buried threads)

COD recommends wired but I see more wireless connections because that's what people are using nowadays

that plus people dont know that the old wii lan adapter can be used on the U.

or people are just too lazy to fun a 20 foot cat5 cable from their router to their U.

Is the whole thing that if your internet is really good it punishes you... various post on the whole subject... lag comp or whatever it is. At a normal world wired is always better than wireless but for bo2 i think the less powerfull the better since it seems that the game tends to award guys with 2 bars on my experience.

tried wireless and wired on previous cod's. could not see any benefit of wired so stayed with wireless.

my router isnt that far away from the wii U. I get full bar signal when i search for wireless.

Unless you have router issues, you shouldn't see much of a difference between the two.  There will be a slight increase in latency with wireless as opposed to wired.  In reality that shouldn't matter.  It should be too small to ever notice. I stick with wired because my connection is not super fast and I want as little latency as possible.  Especially in this game where there's so much lag already.  Also, there's a lot less that can go wrong with wired.  It's simple and to the point.  No possibility of interference, fluctuating signals, or wireless security querks messing things up.

Again though if everything is working as it should you will never notice a difference.  I just like to keep it simple and give my connection the best possible chance of not failing me in some way.

I just went wired today, and finally got open nat due to my router now accepting my dmz

Played 1 quick game before, and it was laggy as hell though, worse than wifi. I was with a guy from Australia though, so im hoping that was the cause

After about 8 games ive come to realise that wired is unplayable for me - I cant get ANY kills, and im 0.5secs behind everyone

Just a quick thought - have you got upnp turned on or off ? Just realised mines off, coz that was the only way I could get moderate before I used a dmz and I didnt set it back to on ,maybe that caused the lag?
