Make an AR feel and play like an SMG...

I've always been partial to SMGs... I used the Scorpion a ton in COD4... with an ACOG. I called my suppressed version "The Mule". Think about what it looks like... anyhow, I digress.

 

In BO2... a lot of peeps think SMGs are overpowered. That's not the case. There is so much more player movement than in any previous title... a lot more. Blame the pace, map design, and perk adjustments for the increase in use... but that's all it is. An increase in use.

 

However...

 

... you want to use an AR.. Set up this kit:

 

Weapon: Any fully auto AR (or M8 with select fire)

Attachments: Laser sight, stock

Perks: P1 Greed, Lightweight, Any other P1, Scavenger, Dexterity

Equipment: Sticky, EMP grenade

 

You will fly across the map, hip-fire like an SMG, be able to ADS on the move, and get the benefit of the power of an AR.

 

Change your game up and you'll find there's nothing wrong with SMGs versus an AR...

 

... you're just not using them right.

    change mine to extreme conditioning instead of dexterity and im right there with ya.

      Yep... for a while I was using P3 greed with dexterity and EC.

       

      I just missed hardline too much.

    Mine is similar. I used this setup on my first prestige on my other account and it's good. I haven't used it ever since.

     

    M8A1 with Stock and Select fire

     

    Perk 1: Lightweight

    Perk 2: Toughness and Scavenger

    Perk 3: Engineer and Dexterity

     

    Wild card: Perk 2 Greed and Perk 3 Greed

    I use QuickDraw on everysingle of my AR build. I think honestly that it makes a huge difference in 1v1 while I am running around. It helps against SMG specially.

      Quickdraw is nice, too. I find the two keys are Lightweight and the stock.

       

      The rest is preference.

    Despite the stock, Quickdraw, and lightweight, if the 1.5 second delay is present in the killcams from what I thought I was doing to what the guy who killed me was doing then I have to increase the distance.  No moving up close and getting a result that is in my favor.

    SMG are Op, ARs are OP, hell even the ballistic knife is OP, know your weapons, enemy weapons and learn to use them/counter them, thats how this game works, lets say, i use chicom silenced + select fire, i switch to burst fire if against snipers, keep it auto for everything else.

     

    AR's are supposed to be medium, medium-long and long ranges.

    I was using the PDW for most of my Black Ops 2 experience until somewhat recently....

     

     

    I went from (had over 6500 kills with positive K/D and I'm considered more of a "rusher")


    PDW

    Quickdraw/FMJ/Fastmag

    Lightweight/Hardline

    Toughness

    Dexterity

    Perk 1 greed

    Primary gun fighter

     

     

     

    To.....(have about 4000 kills with positive K/D and still considered a "rusher")

     

    Type 25

    Quickdraw/FMJ/Fastmag

    Lightweight/Hardline

    Toughness

    Dexterity

    Perk 1 greed

    Primary Gun fighter

     

     

     

    I won't be going back to the PDW and find the type 25 to be extremely successful for my game style.

    You don't even have to change things up that much. I find that ARs outperform SMGs in almost every way to begin with. The Type 95 for example. The only reason to use an SMG instead is either a weapon like the PDW for more ammo, or for the increased movement speed. But still, the Type 95 shoots fast, has almost no recoil, and has more damage at range.

     

    I still don't understand the hate for SMGs. AR's are FAR better and easier to use, as they also were for the last 5 or 6 CoD games.

      The point is to make the AR have movement speed like an SMG.

       

      Stock and lightweight are the ticket.

        I think the reason I fell flat trying to use AR's was because I was so used to using Stalker Perk from MW3 Soon as I started using the stock my game play improved 10 fold.

          I was like a crack addict with Stalker in MW3... miss that perk.

    New love affair...

     

    SWAT... truly love this gun now.

     

    Use it with select fire, laser, and stock... absolutely deadly.

      Fal with select fire fore grip adjustable stock. Lightweight toughness dexterity. You will tear ish up. Laser sight is a waste learn to hip fire without it not that hard

    Good post. The people complaining about SMGs are the ones that havent figured out how to setup their AR classes. The stock attachment is the key for me. I use it on every AR class.

    Spot on Ran, just players do not like having to adjust how they play, like in my reply above they instead want the game adjusted to them instead.
