Beachhead Studio--  M.I.A. (And Activision is fine with ELITE as is)

Posted by SilentDHBI on Jan 22, 2013 8:46 AM

It's obvious to anyone who's active in the Forums, twitter and other online places that Beachhead (And @CallofDutyElite) is not just doing its usual silent treatment. It currently has no online presence at all. The Beachhead twitter feed has not posted since November 2nd. ATVI Assist is taking on most of the things that Beachhead would from time to time deign to answer. But they're extremely limited in what they can really tell us or do for us (although I, for one, truly appreciate them trying). So we're stuck with these issues we're having and no one who can actually DO anything about it to help.

I would like to register an official complaint about this. Beachhead is directly responsible for clans, clan ops and challenges. There are major issues with all of those and we, as a community, DESERVE to have someone we can direct our issues to and be able to expect at least a minimum of response. As a Founding member of ELITE, I would like to see all MW3 ops/challenges to be finished as of the 1st of January-- we don't need any more of those, thank you. Obviously, trying to run two versions of ELITE is far too taxing for Beachhead's limited personnel to handle (as pretty much anyone could see six months ago). Focus should have been placed on community involvement, not isolation. I guess Beachhead lost the voluminous input that many in this community gave them about being more active in responding to our issues. We want and deserve someone there to bring issues to that can do something about them. This voluntary isolation by Beachhead needs to end, and it needed to end last month.

This is my soapbox, and many may not feel the same, but I know that many do. Like this post if you agree that Beachhead needs to show up for this community, not just to post ops and challenges. Thank you.

Well said. Time to pull the curtain back and inform your users.

I would like to add... Why is anything propagating from Black Ops 1 to the Black Ops 2 side of Elite?

............................ Old screen names and emblems really?

The emblems are easy to fix as I posted in my last post (just a modification of the image url). The names I'm not so sure of.

As for pulling support for MW3, I don't know. I personally wouldn't care but that is because my clan is level 50. For those that are still trying to level up their clan, I could see them wishing it was still there. How much support it is actually taking from them I'm not so sure since it probably largely runs without too much support.

As for the level of communication, I am with you. They need some community managers (employees of Beachead and Treyarch) to help monitor the forums. They don't have to give a lot of detail. Just mention that they are aware of the bug and are working to resolve it. Give us as much details as they can. But giving us no response is not helpful.  I've found I can often get a response on Twitter, but 160 characters isn't enough to explain an issue. They really need to improve their customer service and have some discussions with their community. Right now the community does not feel like it is being heard.

I largely agree with you although they are obligated to continue the MW3 Ops and Challenges until the last subscription ends and since they sold two year memberships, it won't end until November.

Their communication is nonexistent as far as I can tell which leads me to wonder if Beachead is actually involved anymore.  It seems that Activision support has taken over all of their previous duties from a communication standpoint.  It wouldn't suprise me if Beachead as we knew it no longer exists.  Remember Elite is free and people don't work for free.  So at the very least they may have had to reduce staffing (or maybe got abvsorbed partially by Support) to the point that they no longer have the capability of communicating anymore.  Of course, I have no inside information.  I'm just speculating and could be completely misreading the situation.

I also would like to file a complaint about Beachhead's lack of customer service.

I think that they would have a hard time defending selling a 2 year membership service and not offering something that isn't available to the general public for free.  So I'll be very suprised if they don't continue to offer MW3 Ops and Challenges until November.  The content season referred to the DLC but even if you do think that the Ops and Challenges fall under the content season, I don't see how they could legally get away with charging for the second year and not providing any exclusive content.  They might scale down on the frequency of events but I still think that they are obligated to have them.  I know if it were me and they didn't continue the competitions, I would take them to small claims court just on the principal of the matter.  Sure I'd spend as much in court as I'd be getting back but I'd feel better about it and I'd try to get the court costs rolled into the judgement.  Fortunately, I only bought the one year subscription.  So I'm getting my money's worth.

As I mentioned, I could care less if they keep the MW3 ops/challenges as I don't think that affects the grand scheme of things.

In regards to the 2 year membership, I don't ever recall that being an option. I knew they had the year long deals, but what was this about a 2 year membership and why would anyone actually buy it? It was specific for MW3 and who actually wants to play that for 2 years when you know another game would come out after 1 year.
