FaL vs SMR~

Posted by Err0r_6_ on Dec 11, 2012 6:23 AM

I like both guns, but while using both weapons there are some noticable difference besides the recoil

im an avid FAL User, but miss the damage that the Mk14 in mw3 provided.. which is where the SMR came in.. however

in closer gun battles yes the SMR is a 2 shot kill but really shows no difference then the FAL at mid to long range.. for me this is a big deal since you would typically use an AR for mid to long range..

The Smr has a few draw backs that the increased damage rate IMO doesnt compensate for..

1. recoil

2. grip does nothing

3. small mag size

4. low fire rate

all 4 of which the FAL dominates the SMR

over all  the FAL is my go to weapon.. the SMR is okay, but overall a little disappointing

Agreed. While I kind of likes to MK14 truly nothing compares to the FAL from MW2, from the recoil and damage right through to the wicked reload animation and beastly sound track.

This FAL is still good but not on the same level.

I was excited when I unlocked the SMR thinking it would outclass the FAL in every way (being hunger rank unlock). I was sadly upset. The SMR is so much worse in comparison when used over range which is the whole point if an assault rifle.

Mind the terrible phone auto corrects, cannot edit from my phone but hopefully most of the words make sense.

I actually LOVED the M16 in MW3 after the last buff it received. Nothing like a gold M16 laying waste to all! Lol Stoner would be proud!

I agree error. If the fire rate was increased on the SMR, it would make sense as a high unlock, high powered, single shot rifle. The only issue would be balance which I have to admit, I don't have enough experience with that "ballet". Or maybe only increase the fire rate when it has the select fire switch?? I don't know, that would have balancing issues too with such stopping power.

The recoil might be the balancing tool for sure. I think many people refrain from using certain weapons because they just simply don't want to learn how to control the recoil. I think it's part of the challenge myself. After all, isn't that why we play video games, challenge ourselves???

I dont actually think the properties of the guns stats are compareble to any kind of real life gun.

Take the Python (Hand Gun) on Blops.. When you add the snub nose to it. Apparently it decreased the power & improved accuracy i do believe.

Now we all know that is the complete opposite.

I think with attatchments you have to try EVERY one. On MW2 was a LMG with grip it made the gun jump all over the place.

Oh and to add i actually had a good couple hours game play earlier so no moaning about Lag Comp from me.

I find the Riot Shield absolutly useless. No matter how i use it i die so easy. It's either my butt sticking out, Walking sideways to the oposition so they see my whole side or heads is out... list goes on haha.

I've run into some pretty good players with the riot shield playing hard point. I guess you just have to be able to play out of your comfort zone.

oh god the SMR is useless is it meant to be depicted in zombies as bad weapon, it takes forever to kill a zombie on round 3

I am torn. I would like to see the SMR buffed, in a sense that a headshot is a OHK (one hit kill), yet I almost like it the way it is due to the fact that not many players use it. It probably should have a little less recoil if nothing else, OR actually have the grip do something to help out.

I love the SMR, a really good weapon in my book.

What attachments do you recommend? I'm an AR user and use almost all of them but the SMR just doesn't feel like it brings something special to the table. IMO more disappointing than the M8.

The select fire seems kind of useless because the rate of fire is still too low IMO to waste a slot on it. Target finder....hmmm. I don't think I've tried that one yet on the SMR.

i use that same setup on my SMR sometimes, only difference is i use reflex part of the time instead of tgt finder and the silencer seems to calm the recoil a lil to me, maybe it doesnt, but i sure seem to be more accurate with it...
