Why is knifing such a ball ache?

The amount of times my knife has went through someones skull and they dont die is unreal.

 

It has made me rage quit one or two times ...

    how about when aiming and about to take the kill then end up knifing the fin air then leading to my death

    One of my favourite classes for the really small maps is no guns, just knife and a load of perks.  Amazing how well you can do with it provided you are careful at the start.  I do always pick up enemy weapons after a while, makes it more interesting seeing what others have set up weapon-wise.  They cant really moan either when you kill them with their own gun.

      I ofton find it annoying how hand guns seem to be more powerfull than machine guns on small compact maps.

        Yeah, I know what you mean, the B32R and KAP-40 are pretty good.  They have very small ammo clips though, to the extent where you can't afford to miss if you want the kill.

    I also find the knife really difficult to use, I use a tactical setup but find it much harder to use than other titles?

     

    I have noticed you have to be right in front of the guy to get him

    You're right...my balls ache so terribly bad when I miss a knife kill. This whole time I thought it was just me.

      I find I also panic knife 5 times more then in MW3 ...  I gave up on the knifing . I used to be pro with the knife I so miss it haha

    I think its now classed as a safety knife, you know one of those that the special kids use.... the amount of times I've knifed someone in the back and nothing happened bar them turning around and shooting me, as if i just tapped them on the shoulder and said hi mate want a free kill!?!?

    Did everyone not express their frustration with regards to the knifing system in the previous titles? Knifing has been nerfed. Use your gun, or guns, and move on.

      In the instance that I find myself behind someone and could knife them i would always choose to knife them, this is for conservation of ammo and also not to give my possition away!

      MW3 was great for knifing.... Knifing someone is so bitter sweet haha Who said you can't bring a knife to a gun fight

    I've always shied away from posting this because of how much I thought it would get flamed. I'm glad to see support for this though. I've stood behind idle snipers and whiffed 2-3 times. Not pushing any of the joysticks I finally get a kill after the 3rd or 4th. Doesn't make a bit of sense

    even those who dont like kniffing you have to admitt that it is broken it this game and it cant be blamed on the lag comp either. try playing an offlilne match with the bots and you will see you miss just as many knifes.

    what really dosent make sense is the fact that if i use the balistic knife i rarely miss but when trying to get a knife kill while a gun is equiped it seems about 10 times harder.

      I guess I am the minority:

       

      I love the way it works now.  If I want to knife, I switch to no secondary and go for it (I often use fast hands with no 2nd).

       

      If I want increased lunge, I put on the Ballistic Knife.

       

      That is the in between right there. No panic knifing (e.g. it has to be a deliberate attempt), but f you want the slightly increased lunge, you have to plan it before you can beat someone with a gun.

       

      Just my thoughts... you cannot please everyone.

        thats the feel i get from it as well that knifing works as long as you arent panic knifing but sometimes though thats the only option you have to take down an enemy. idk how many times ive been playing 1 in the chamber and i shoot and miss the other guy shoots and misses and then we have to knife at eachother for like 30 secs before someone finnaly lands a hit.

    Like you, I am peeved at how many times my knife swings through an opponents head/body before I finally make contact.

     

    ***So I have snuck up on a bad guy... he is clueless looking in a scope... I *swish* through his head... *swish* through his head again... he is like.."what?", stands up and then *slice*.. finally contact and dead... wtf, it can't be lag, he wasn't moving... is it possible I was too close?

     

    Maybe you need to ensure "your code" doesn't think I was on the far side of him...

      This happens to me too, but in the end he turns around and I try to knife for the 3rd time and he shoots me. Sometimes I swear at my tv . Just knife him already sheesh!

    All the times I tried to knife someone, majority of the time it's a complete fail just for the guy to kill me. I would have killed these guys easily in CoD 4 up until MW3. I'm just glad my fails have yet to show up on a kill cam.

      I was on a killcam with this knife and was mortified lol It looks so different when you see yourself doing it , then when you are actually doing it.  I wish I could render a clip of it lol

    You guys just got used to the overpowered knife in MW3.  If you want to use a knife, equip one.

    Play sticks and stones theres nothing like seeing 2 or more people out of ammo "trying" to stab each other.

      I've done that in domination.  We weren't out of ammo but both needed to reload. It was in one of the rooms on Hijacked, we were dancing around the table.  We were both trying to reload but befre we could we went to stab the other.  Eventually I lost but it did make me laugh.

    After MW2, I started using tactical layout and I've been very bad at knifing since then. I'm glad panic knifing is gone.

    I've noticed only the secondary knife and ballistic are good. COD4 was the best for knifing. Better for everything else as well. lol
