The skilled based matchmaking that you are referring to is just for League Play. It's not in the public lobbies. They are using the same system for public lobbies that they have always used. The problem that you and everyone else (me included) is facing is that there are a ton of head glitch spots in these maps and quite frankly it doesn't take a lot of effort for people to kill you from them even though you have to be very precise to kill them. You have to adapt your game to manuver from one head glitch to the next which is quite frustrating for someone that likes to run and gun but that's how the game was built.
Wrong, Vanh has mentioned it multiple times on his twitter that there is skill based match making in public matches
Many commentators have tested this, they always get put into games with high K/D and high ranked people, but when are in a party filled with low K/D players, they get matched with low K/D people.
Maybe I missed it on Vahn's twitter but it's pretty unlikely. What your friend is seeing is more likely the same thing that has always been in place. Higher prestiges tend to get grouped together and always have. Since the game is new, being a higher prestige at this point in the game likely means that you are either a really good player or have been living and breathing the game to get there. Most likely you are a really good player and therefore you only have really good players to go up against. Believe me, I've seen my share of jumping/dropping/spinning ninja's out there but I'm also about 1/2 way through my second prestige. I'd expect in a month that the competition at the second prestige level won't be anywhere near as fierce as it is today.
PS: Youtube commentaries aren't always based in reality. I like several of the YT commentators but I've seen on numerous occasions where they have stated "facts" that where completely guesses and wrong on their part.
The people that have .50 kid's and get pooped on aren't die hard fans, they are casual players and don't play the game that much and they don't rage quit and they don't care about stats. Casual players almost never back out after getting stomped because they don't care about stats.
Just go to any random public match lobby. Go to Lobby Leaderboard & look at everyone's Score Per Minute compared to yours. Similiar? Yeah I thoughts so.
I don't mind being wrong but I have looked at the leaderboards and the SPM is all over the place in my matches. Everything from 200 above mine to 100 below. You must be experiencing something different from what I am and that's okay. With so many people online, it's to be expected that not everyone will have the exact same experience. That's part of what makes these forums so informative. I've also played (very little I'll admit) in the League play and find that I'm put in matches with roughly 50% unranked players. It's probably not supposed to be that way but there doesn't appear to be that many people playing the league play. So I suppose the matchmaking system doesn't have a choice but to put players in the match that may not be in my ranking.
I noticed this before he even made the twitter announcement. I don't consider myself an awesome 1337 player by any means, but I always held at least a 2.0 KDR on any COD game. After my first couple games I noticed that everyone that was playing the game was just as good as I was. I didn't notice any 'bad' players, that you'd normally see in a room.
You know the ones that will walk everywhere. Be oblivious to you as you walk right up to them. Lay prone in the middle of nowhere..etc..
After basically being forced to either be in tryhard mode non-stop, or go negative, I then started to look at the combat records of the people in the rooms and found they almost ALL had very similar KDRs and SPMs to me.
This made me think the matchmaking was a bug, and that they may have accidentally pushed the League Play code onto the Public. But, now, we learn that this was on PURPOSE???
It's NOT fun at ALL to have to play as hard as you can every single time you get on COD. I sometimes want to just sit back and play a regular-weak class and goof off...I can't do that now. I'm forced to play at or near my max capacity all the time just to avoid going negative.
The whole point of multiplayer in a casual setting is to play with a wide array of players. Sometimes, you run into easy targets that you can shoot like fish in a barrel, and other times you are clobbered by 1337 12 year olds hopped up on red-bull and skittles.
I liked COD for having a mixture of thoses people in one room. Now, I'm forced to play with just one group AND have about a half-second to one-second delay sometimes in firefights..
I haven't even prestiged on this game yet because it's been so frustrating for me. I have had less fun on this version than all other versions combined. It's no fun to play a game that you're constantly forced to play competitively at non-stop.
I get put into lobby's and all I hear is Spanish. The name's of these players are Mexico...something. Why am I playing against players in Mexico when I live in the Northern Midwest?!?!?! Not enough players, I doubt that.
GET RID OF THIS CRAP IN PUBLIC MATCHES, please.
P.S. Fire the person who actually suggested this as they are a fool in there own right.
This is crazy, I thought it was only in League Play. No wonder.
So if you play solo and in parties, the matchmaking will be really messed up. Really Vhaun?
Game is unbearable
- Play a good game and get a loss & error message with the hosts raging 24/7
- Play 2 people 24/7 with half or more a team raging being normal now
- Get dumped in lost games 24/7 do to the much higher amount of rage quitting lobbies we must join
- Play try-hards and high prestigers 24/7
- Leave games 24/7 do to extra lag this crap creates, yeah get shot around corners, yeah shot by a silenced smg aiming at thin air, yeahj. It’s so retarded..
We tried to be reasonable, but it has to be said whoever did this is a complete selfish Douche. 95 % Play cod for fun not competitiveness. Your MLG pleasing is retarded…
It doesn’t work in any case. The difference with Blops and mw3 is as clear as day and night. If it has to be in the game, it should be based on w/l ratios. That might actually be somewhat accurate. As the higher it is the more you party up generally. Full parties should play full parties. Now you need a try-hard party to win games constantly. But then again it will always affect matchmaking, so just bring back the old matchmaking algorithm for Public. Next to matching 4 plus parties together when possible in their region.
I did not sign up for skill based matchmaking in any case. No, I won’t join clans and whatnot. I just want to play the game for Fun, which now is impossible.
