Help with aiming-how to practice properly?

Posted by Caderyn on Nov 23, 2012 5:10 PM

I was always a pc gamer in the past, so I've been trying to get used to the analog sticks and the sensitivity. Needless to say I suck at aiming. I need higher sensitivity to compete but lower to aim properly. What may be some good ways to adjust to the change or get used to it faster so I can finally stop with the unranked combat training? I'm on black ops 2 on xbox 360 and have followed videos such as the settings, just trying to get some help other than just through practice do that I can practice properly. My gamer tag is Caderyn720 as in game help works just as good. Thanks guys!

Turn your sensitivity up one notch at a time. I think it's set at 4 by default. I'm also pretty sure it goes all the way up to 12 (or something like that). To be honest, I use 4 and it works fine for me. There are times where I wish it was about a 6, but if you turn it up too high, it gets insane.

Some people run it way up and have probably adjusted to it.

First of all, are you playing on a big tv over 30" or on a monitor? If you're playing on a big TV, you WILL recieve input lag and it will drastically affect your gameplay. Trust me on this, the moment i switched to a monitor instead of using my crappy samsung 40" it felt sooo much better.

Other then that, keep practicing and accept the fact that you aren't a pro. In a year or so or maybe even a few months you'll be able to win every gunfight in no time

I have 2 high end tvs, one 36 one 42. I currently play on my 36 but don't notice too much lag. I know I need to practice but I was wondering how to handle the sensitivity it gun selection

Bots man, bot it up. Sensitivity is all a matter of personal opinion. Playing with a mouse is much more accurate than using a controller it will just take time to get used to it.

Go into combat training. Put the bots on the easiest mode for target practice.
Play with your sensitivity and play around with different weapons.
Most weapons have a slight recoil upwards to counter that whilst shooting move your analog stick slightly down

If you practice on 14 then it'll change as you play with 7, so stick with a high sensitivity 11-14, medium 5-9, or low 1-4

Make sure you have the aim assist options enabled in system settings. I think there are 2 (one for each stick) those slow your movement near a target so you dont over correct. Heres a Tmartn vid talking about it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSdi31Qpx2E

Also, check out http://www.kontrolfreek.com/, these stick attatchments are only about $10-$14 and they can help a lot once you get used to them.

A good exercise is to do a private match on nuketown and shoot the heads off the manaquins. Aim assist doesnt target them so you can fine tune your true aim, then with aim assist added in real MP you should do a lot better...hope this helps...
