Can the assault rifles receive a buff?

     I'm an AR guy; I don't like running around hipfiring SMGs with lasersight and long barrel. It feels like the ARs are outclassed by almost every other class. Hell, I can pick up a sniper and do better, but it's not how I want to play. I don't want to jump onto the SMG bandwagon, as I feel the SMGs are a bit noobish in this game. It's like the Famas and AK-74 in Black Ops 1; I tried avoiding those guns because I didn't think they were fair. I want everyone to have a fair shot in this game. What are your thoughts about the weapons classes?

    AR's are supposed to be outgunned by everything. they should also be able ot outgun everything in the right situations. go SMG on a sniper, outrange a SMG. 

     

    biggest problem with SMG's i see is they dotn lose enough damadge with range and virtualy every level has an ideal location with them. second biggest problem is shotguns should **** SMG's in a SMG's ideal area. the advantige of a SMG over a shotgun is it is actualy capable of long range, even thou not good. shotguns are currently to weak to outgun SMG's reagurly at close range.

     

    LMG's seem a little weak, need a firepower buff or a weakness nerf(even thou that would bring them closer to AR) only semi fit as buff AR's but some AR's still kill faster wich is always means LMG's dont fit the balance right.

     

    snipers seem fine ATM.

     

    also noob friendly weapons should be the overall weakest. weapons that arnt noob friendly should be stronger. shotguns and LMG's semi/poorly fit hear, AR's and SMG's semi fit, snipers fit well.

     

    this game did okay with weapon balance so far, MW2 still has best weapon balance, even though terrable perk balance.

      exactly sometimes you lose long range gun fights because of the higher fire rate of SMGs they do need more damage drop at longer range and everything would be fine

    Not really - they are good

    the thing that needs to be done is hipfire spread needs 2 be increased on smgs

      You must be a SMG user. No the AR in this game are weak. Go play  Black Ops and you see that's how AR are suppose to be. MSMC has almost no recoil same with the PDW-57. It seems like COD wants people not to use AR anymore since MW3.

        I thought it was just me. I have always been an avid AR user and I think the same way about them now. WAY to weak for what there purpose is. An MP7 out gunning me with an AN94 upper chest?!?! Maybe lag but it's happened too many times for me to just write it off on lag. Even the M8 is good example. Getting out gunned at range by an SMG AFTER you put a four round burst in the dudes neck?!?!?!

         

        The only AR that I can kick but with is the FAL because of it's stopping power with the full auto switch and FMJ. It's a beast but that's just one gun out of many. Not right.

          if your are withen shotgun OHK range or slightly above the SMG user SHOULD have the advantage. at mid adn long range the AR SHOULD have the advantige.

        MW3 had the best assualt Rifle slection of all time and they were certainly more powerful than the SMGs since all SMGs dropped dmg after 15 meters in MW3 and already at 12,5 for MP7.

    The AR's when used mid to long range do quite well but there are a lot of short range engagements in BO2 maps which makes the SMG's seem to be better.  The later unlocked AR's are actually pretty good.  The SCAR, AN, and SMR all deal quite a bit of damage.  The M27 is also not bad but it doesn't have the damage of the other three.  However, it does have a high firerate and is very accurate at range.

      The kick on those guns is crazy, more than LMG's without the grip attachment. They definately toned down the AR's which is FINE BUT don't tone them down that much.

        I run grip on the AN which does wonders for it's long range capabilities but I use the SMR without it.  It has a good bit of visual kick but it seems to settle back down pretty quickly between shots.  I mostly used the SCAR for mid range fights so I don't know how bad the kick is for long range.  The M27 shoots like a laser for me straight out of the box.  I think that some guns actually need certain attachments to make them good.  It's just a matter of figuring out what works well with them.

    They don't need a buff.

     

    Every assault rifle in this game (minus the SWAT 556 without select fire) is great. I have the FAL OSW all the way to gold.

     

    I fear that buffing the assault rifles (which don't need a buff) would result in another MW2 or Black Ops 1, which were absolutely dominated by assault rifles.

    I agree..i thought it was me, i even told my brother that the AR'S arent very powerful as they were in BO1..I can do uch better with sniper than an AR.

    I think part of the problem is lag, It happened to me that sometimes I die with only 2 bullets by SMG users then. My main reaction would be that SMGs are OP but again much of the problem is Lag and you don't really know if they're OP or the lag is hitting you hard, thats my opinion.

    Well the Mtar is a great gun to hipfire i mean its reload is good without fast mags you can easliy drop 2-3 people like an smg and its a lvl 4 gun

    another sign that COD hasnt perfected balance. AR's are fine. SMG's except for weapon damadge/range drop not being enough is fine. except map design. snipers as a skillweapon is fine. shotguns and LMG's need the buff. only good shotgun is the one that fires slugs because it has range. other 2 are improved sence BO but still not good enough to compete. accerssy(and reaction time) should be the only thing stoping a shotgun from raping SMG's were SMG's are ment to be used. LMG's should kill quicker than any other fullauto gun, but be noticably harder to use/have noticable drawbacks preventing use, currently just the drawbacks but doesnt have the noticable firepower(wellenough noticable firepower). and need certen attachments to compete.

    Yeah, they don't need any more improvements. It's already impossible to kill AR's when they head glitch at a large distance.

     

    I use the MSMC and find only up closing shooting allows easy kills of all the other classes. Shotguns always win up close.

     

    I think the game is very balanced. You just need to stick in your guns locations. Snipers take far distance. Assault Rifles / Light Machine Guns should get medium+ range. Sub machine / Shotgun take shortrange.

     

    You are probably running in high/short range areas which is why you are dying. If you stay in buildings short range guns will have the advantage.

     

     

    If anything though the Scorpion ***** in short range. Try extended mags, rapid fire, and long barrel.
