Clan Tags?

Can someone please help me.  I am the leader of a clan and our clan tags are saying it is not allowed due to having nllG which the ll are the two long lines in the symbols.  I understand under the Treyarch rules, they are only allowing numbers and letters.  Are they gonna fix this?  I do not want to lose my clan tag, how can they take away something we have used for an entire year and created an identity for? If I switch my clan tag and they fix it, someone might take the one I intially started.  I dont know what to do. I hope someone from Treyarch or Activision comments on this.  Thanks

      The point of Elite was that it wasnt gonna change our clans.  This is directly changing the entire identity of a clan.  We have websites, GB teams, and youtube all centered around an identity.  Now Treyarch comes along and decides that symbols arent allowed.  The funny part is, I was using the burst gun called Swat.  So I went to name the slot Swat, and it wouldnt let me as it is deemed profanity.  Why is this game so restrictive?  Why are we being forced to change things that have been going on for a year, and we were sold a game on the premise that our Clans would remain UNCHANGED.

        I can understand your frustration. I was only trying to help. It does suck to have certain things stripped from you and to have things change. My guess is that they did this to lessen the hacking. I think special characters (such as the lines in your clan name) are used for hacking. If they outlaw them then that will help prevent it.

    i'm in the exact same situation as you, my clan tag has been [M!] and now i cant use it anymore. sucks. i've seen a few players with gold clan tags already in BO2, not sure how theyre doing this without there currently being a way to level up clans. looks like we might be forced to change our clan tags

      Hi Swaggin.  I agree.  I am in the midst of trying to contact people over at Activision regarding this.  If I hear back, I will let you know.  To be honest, if my clan tag isnt allowed, there is no point in owning this game.  I would much rather play MW3 and keep my identity than change and be an unknown.

        i've tried to call them all day long for 2 days now and i'm just getting a busy signal. online live chat support has been shut down for months..this is extremely fustraiting. i dont understand why it's so hard to just allow symbols in clan tags.

         

        and at this point in time there are soo many clans it's going to be very hard to find a clan tag that makes sense in regards to your clan name, some unfortunately that took at clan tag and arent even active anymore. might have to change the clan name just to find a tag that makes some kinda sense..

        just gotta say, a symbol in your clan tag souldnt make you refuse to play BO2. I mean is your entire clan going to stay on MW3 to continue playing against te remaining dregs left on te MW3 servers? General opinion I've gatered from te community as well as myself is tat BO2  is far better tan MW3 in many, many ways. Don't let a little ting like tat ruin a great game for ya. My clan tag was also ruined due to a - and +. Anyway ope tis canges. I apologize for te spelling, I'm missing a key..     well my clan has changed it's name once before, we we're a new clan as of MW3(made it to level 50 ). me and my clan mates just decided to back to our old clan name with a clan tag that works for BO2.

     

    hopefully everything works out for other clan leaders and their teammates

    lol og its cool. i cant capitalize when typing on my phone.  right now on ps3 this game is terrible, i am guessing you are on xbox. not to mention audio is downright atrocious. to each their own. if clan tags dont get fixed i will be going after activision for a refund due to misrepresentation. thanks

    I could be wrong but since the clan tag is tied back to Elite, I would imagine that they will incorporate your existing Elite clan tag into the display even if the unofficial clan tag (as we've seen in many games now) doesn't accept the same characters.  I haven't looked yet but is there an option to use the Elite clan tag in BO2 like there was in MW3?  If not it may end up being an add on after they get the game running better and are ready to start leveling up the clans.

      No there is no option like in MW3 that I am aware of.  People who have the gold clan tag are the ones that have a clan over level 10 in MW3 and contain no symbols.  They really need to correct this as it is a huge problem for people who really have worked hard creating and promoting their clans. What is complete BS is that they hotfixed in GOAT for Whiteboy or whatever that commentators name is so he can use it for his clan. Not fair, dont believe me check out Vahn's twitter.

      I changed my clan tag on elite, then manually entered it on BO2 and suddenly me and a few other clan members have it in gold somehow?

        Hi Swaggin,

            From what i know is if you have a clan that is above level 10 on MW3, and you have a clan tag that is only letters and numbers, it will appear gold on BO2.

      My clans tags are gold (lvl 50 in mw3) but there's no where to select them or anything

      You just type it in where it says clan tags, it's blue at first but when I next logged it was gold

      If they reset the clan lvl for blops2 clan then why would they allow one of the unlocks early? Seeings as I thought we would have to earn them again in black ops 2 ops/challenges

    I really hope Treyarch reconsiders this.  I spent over an hour and cant even find a tag that is close to representing my clan.

    For some reason my clan tag [NumT] is blocked, all letters, no special characters, but keeps coming up as "Prohibited Text"

    i want to know why elite has ok'd my clan tag,mw3 let us use it, now treyarch is ruining clans as we know it.

      Bo2 has been. A huge disappointment. My clan has no clan tags because of a "_". Elite has only gotten less useful and more confusing and I have already seen evidence of hacked lobbies. Also, how would special symbols help you hack the game? That makes no sense to me. And why are they so worried about profanity when it's a game rated mature and they drop the f-bomb in the damn story?

    I asked Activision about the clan tags and they say that they are working on resolving the issue.  I didn't take it as a promise that they could fix it but they are at least trying to.
