Need honest feedback on BO2

Posted by zKaiZeRx on Nov 13, 2012 4:00 PM

If you're going to be bias, don't even think about replying to this discussion.

Is BO2 a good game? Is it better than MW3 or the same? If its good, how is it better? What are somethings you don't like about BO2?

I've been playing COD since COD4, and I never got a COD game when it came out, I'd wait for feedback first and then make a decision on whether or not I should spend my money on it.

Thanks for your time

Personally, im loving it. I genuinally think that it is in the top 3 best Call of Duty games ever made. The Pick 10 system is amazing, the graphics are spectactular, love all the scorestreaks and finally the game plays well. Theres no horrible spawns (well except 2 maps: Hijacked -can be weird at times- and Nuketown 2025), Im having so more fun playing this game than I did on MW3.

I love it, though many people will probably disagree with me.

    ----FORGOT TO ADD----

Heads up about some of the maps, I dont really like the open maps especially the one on the aircraft carrier. Too much like Countdown from CoD4 (I didn't like that map).

I have to say, I was kinda shocked by this game. I had heard through those who played it early that it wasn't like MW3 (thank God), but it also wasn't like Blops. It kinda worried me bcuz I didn't know how it would "feel" as far as gameplay, movement, and balance of weapons and streaks. I have to agree with some others, this is a COD all it's own. It is a good mix of all previous CODs, but the good parts.

Domination worried me too, and admittedly it is taking me time to get used to, bcuz it kinda does stink when you get on a roll and then all the sudden the game stops to start round 2. In all, it's still the only game mode I will ever play anyway. As for maps, they are all pretty small, even those they say are "medium."  Treyarch definatley makes the best maps though. I think I like all of them to a degree, although I have a few favorites.

Campaign blew me away. It still feels like COD, but with so many pluses and a good story.

Combat training extremely fun bcuz you can now play domination which I love against bots. Although they really do cap flags a lot! Lol

I don't really play zombies so I haven't even tried that part.

Hope this helps. Oh, and connectivity hasn't been a problem for me.

DON'T DO IT! BO2 is the laggiest game I have ever played. All the people on these forums saying that are not lying. I swear the 4 bar in this game is equal to a 1 bar in MW3.

I already sold mine. Don't waste your money!

I'd say that the game is pretty good.  Definitely something new and worth the money.  However, they are having a lot of server issues still which is making the online experience a crap shoot.  Hopefully, the server issues will get resolved soon.  I know that they are feverishly working on it based on the twitter feeds.

It is an excellent game, only things that are holding it back atm are:

    1. Freezing (PS3)

    2. Lag comp (Just slightly)

The freezing is being fixed and lag comp just needs tobe adjusted slightly.

The people who are saying its extremely laggy etc need to change their search preferences to best, the game improves greatly. Eventually I see all 3 search options being completely useable but as of now only 2/3 are useable.

The freezing on PS3 will be fixed by tomorrow most likely, they're working pretty hard on it. Other than that its a minor lag comp problem (no where near MW3 bullshit) that only occurs due to  playing on default search preferences which is a given since it connects you to a lobby not based as much on connection or host location.

Normal and Best search perferences show the game for what it really is, excellent. People are more weary of CoD games since MW3, if they see a minor problem its blown out of proportion by idiots and people get a bad impression. I can gaurentee I am not going back to MW3 im really enjoying this game.

If you don't believe me wait for a week at max, rent the game and see how it plays.

Go into playlists and before you choose your game mode look at the bottom right of the screen and you'll see search preferences and hit that, I think its the x button on xbox. Scroll through and look for best. Using best it may take 3-4 seconds longer to find again but the connections are simply excellent on that.

best way to describe this game is frustrating one minute i can kill some across he map with 3-4 shots the next thing you know its taking a full clip to get the kill at the minute with the lag and spawns this game is on par with mw3 for me hopefully the will get it sorted soon then i can start enjoying playing

My ps3 has froze over 10 times ive lost count.  Having issues getting in games.  Almost impossible if your in a party.  Sit for a while in between games full lobby and game still wont start.  There are positives to it.  Guns r better.  Kill streaks good.  I do have mixed feelings about mw3 support ks.  Hate how there used emp stealths etc.  But you see people running around easier to kill.  Now its back to corner camping and slow games.  But new game always takes time to get used to.  My ps3 is 6 months old and i am not likung the hard restarts

there's severe issues since launch on ps3 BUT

    that will get sorted

To start off play custom games against bots or friends as this works fine and will let you learn the maps aswell as the scorestreaks

When looking to invite friends to party seems strange as they aren't in alphabetical order(its order is people online then people playing game), you can't transfer party leader but you can mute the other team in 1 go.

Zombies feels tacked on like a cheap dead rising tho

No hc Dom (gutted ) no ricochet in hc (friends are gutted lol) hard point is ok and is like drop zone but with no packages so "zone" then lol

Knifing has to be done closer and will frustrate you at first but you get used to it(although people shouldn't be able to stab you while your hitting them with bullets)

Personally I don't think it's as good as mw3 but I do prefer the modern warfare series anyway

So to me it just doesn't feel right lol

But like I say it's not a bad game and it plays fluid(like the trailer) when working 100% online

it's just not modern warfare but when I went back to mw3 last night I noticed I was a lot better because this game requires faster reaction times or you'll get stomped quickly

So in summary I'll give it 1 thumbs up lol

If you did not have an issue with lag in MW3, you will likely be ok getting BO2.

However, I still don't know that I would recommend it.

If you were someone who camped you will have a heck of a time in this game.  You will hate it and want to return it day one.

If you were someone who enjoyed MW3 because you like to run around with no goal or objective hip firing and spraying all over the place then this game is for you.  There is no strategy or skill associated with this game.  Auto aim will get you kills while ADS will get you killed.  If you don't care about k/d then you should be ok.

The MP maps are pretty poor in my opinion.  All of them are small.  The Black Ops 1 maps really made it a strong game.  There were small maps, medium and large maps so the combat was a bit varied.  The BO2 maps are all smaller than the medium size maps on BO1.  There is crap scattered everywhere all of it set up to allow players to head glitch making it even more difficult to get out of spawn traps  or being spawn killed.

Oh yeah I have not mentioned all the spawn killing yet.  If you play objective (CTF, Demolition or Dominaion) you will get spawn killed to death.  If you play TDM you are going to get spawned behind and killed 5 times a match.  The only way to not get spawn killed is to make sure you are spawn killing the other team.  I don't quite think Treyarch intented for this to be the only strategy in the game however it is.

Don't even think about score streaks unless you are running the lowest three.  In Black Ops 1 I could get dogs at least every other game but I struggle to get more than a UAV in BO2 because I am always getting killed by someone who spawns behind me.

I will say the the pick 10 system is pretty cool even if the unlock system is very 17th century when compared to the Black Ops 1 unlock system.

The reason I would not recommend buying it is because even if they get the lag issues fixed or you are not impacted by the lag issues, given the size of the maps there is nothing you can really do to avoid the spawn issues because the maps are just way too small for 6v6.

Even if Treyarch decides to release 10 large maps via DLC at this point very few people are going to sign up for better maps in a game they believe is broken.  So even if you get the DLC very few others are going to have it.

What I find ironic is that they have now given players the ability to record and post all of the lag issues to the internet.  I have never been into using the theater but this issue is so large that I really feel like I need to spend time posting all of the in game BS.

If you are thinking about buying now I would consider buying it from Gamestop used.  I believe there is a 10 day return policy and if you don't like the game you are free to return it.  So you can use GS to rent the game at no cost.  Given how many people are disatisfied with the game I imagine there are going to be tons of copies for sale.

Camping is HARDER for sure but it's still there just not in the form that we are used to from MW through MW3. Try using shock charges. You will be surprised at how camping is not dead, it's just morphed a bit.

$50 for 4 maps is the biggest rip off I ever heard of, this is black ops all over again with few minor changes and diff maps. the people at Treyarch have failed again....and I thought Activision was bad, wow

    Good:

    1. Graphis and color schemes on maps, best out of any game in the series (personal opinion)

    2. Choices, choices and more choices for customization

    Bads:

    1. Map layouts are equal to MW3.  For me this was a negative, as I was not a fan of all the CQC crap.

    2. Way too many head glitching spots

    3. Inconsistent game play (lag related)

    4. Spawns.  Did you like the revenge spawns in MW3, then you will love this game; otherwise, they are pretty frustrating.

    5. Something is goofy with the pistols.  I haven't been able to pin down the issue, but over the past 24 hours more and more folks are running them and they seem to be getting insta kills with them.

I am on Xbox and have only had the CAMPAIGN freeze once on me

The Five Seven is a 3 hit kill at close range.  The B23R is a 1-2 burst kill.

I really was hoping that they would fix the head glitch.

Lag comp issues are still as bad if not worse than MW3 in my opinion. Prepare for the dreaded 4 bar insta-death matches where you cant win a gunfight even when you know their coming. Setting search preferences to best also doesnt seem to do much. The game is almost playable if you play by yourself but prepare to have your whole party murdered if you play with friends.

It's too early to ask people on their opinions. Yes MW3 had major issues on release especially on Ps3. Other than the connection error when i've been able to play it, it has run much smoother than mw3 did on release.

Most of this feed back from people will change in about a month once people get a real grasp on the game other than surface opinions. If you like Mw3 and you liked blackops then blackops 2 will fit you. It's a hybrid of both games.

I have to say, i was very exited about BO 2 but the Game itself was a very big disappointment.

The Maps are very equal and small, i have MASSIVE lag issues, which was never the case in former COD's and im constantly getting spawn killed.

I play on PS3 and the game freeze so much that i cant count it anymore. Besides, i found out a glitch which will give you every weapon and perk + attachment you want (in Public Qeue), no matter which level you are.

    What cheek!

The Killstreaks are okay, but overall its not worth it! I will not play it anymore.

Sorry for my bad english and the negative review, but its just the way i feel about this game...it just doesnt feel right.

It has alot of good stuff but everything else in the multiplayer is rendered moot by the unfair netcode. It has the same lag comp issues plagued MW3 multiplayer. If the netcode is the only thing that decides the winner of a gun fight, what's the point in even playing? No point.

So yeah, this game had alot of potential, but everyone doesn't have an equal chance in the multiplayer. Again the laggers have a huge advantage.

Also, the spawns are quite bad. Often killed enemies spawn right behind you. Revenge spawns especially in FFA.

The PS3 version has alot of issues. It still freezes after the 1.03 patch. It has frame-rate hitches and overall the quality is not up to bar with the 360 version. Looks alot blurrier.

I could overlook every other flaw but the broken netcode just makes it unplayable. Try (on your own connection) before you buy.

For me I rank it just after WaW, which for me is tied 3rd with MW2 but for most people would be ranked 6th lol.

The best way I would describe it is different. It doesnt play much like any other in the modern era CoDs. That my opinion, but its also the reason I actually like it (hated BO1 and rank that second last in the entire series after CoD3).

Perks no longer feel neccessary, which some people call balanced.

I feel that a little bit more could have been done to make some of them feel like a viable option. Teir 2 has no standout useful perks and most my classes do not have one equiped.

Hardline (Teir1) and seing equipment through walls (forget name, Teir3) are the only perks that are notable enough for me to use regularly.

There is leadway in this though as it leaves you open to make the choice of adding something different to your class. Once you start thinking outside the box and remove yourself from the old idea of how your class is created you can come up with some extremely fun classes to play.

The map design is continuing the BO and forward idea of not having any less than 2 or more entrances to an area. Forcing movement and increasing the chances of enemy encounters.

There is once again the lack of even a single sniper map which makes me greatly sad. There are areas on some maps that are viable for sniping, however when that area is the main part of the map (looking at you Drone), its pretty much impossible not to get counter sniped). Just a single map in the vein of Wasteland, Overgrown, Creek, Downfall, Outskirts, SEELOW! I would be greatful for. Even if it is going to be skipped over 90% of the time, just the option would be nice. However I can accept that CoD is no longer the game that provides that experience (I belive this is mostly due to the criticism WaW recieved), but I degress.

Gun choice doesn't feel relevant outside of choosing gun class and rate of fire, another issue I have had with the series since BO1. A gun is a gun and is going to kill in a couple of shots,

New additions of things such as Black Hat are fun and open up different play styles. My traditional sniper class always, without a doubt has been Sniper + handgun leaving me open to airsupport attacks. Blackhat, being an equipment means you can still have the fun of messing with people's pointstreaks and not jepordise your CQC safety.

The Assult Shield a good fun and alot more versitile than the riot shield. Get to the objective, place it down, pull out your secondary and defend from cover. Had alot of fun experimenting with that class today.

I'm sure I could go on for ever about the game but really my only point is that its different. Its the same CoD, but tweaked to be something not quite what it was before. Mostly in a possitive way.

While I think it's a good game,  I think the community sucks.   Treyarch you made a good game, but there are many things I see can be better.   I spawn 4 or 5 time in the same place so a sinper can take you down before another step.   Hardpoint the same points come up in the same order each and every game making it easy for people to plan and prepair for the next one to pop up.

After a week I'm sick of this ****.

I would have to agree with the others in saying that the biggest problems are Lag Comp and Level Design.

I will admit I never experienced the lag much on Infinity Ward games, but I also have a really fast internet upload and download speed. I do however feel that I get killed by "curving bullets" more than anything else in this game.

The levels are all just WAY too small. I wouldn't mind if there were just a few large maps and maybe even one extra large map in the rotation. Just really poor level design on Treyarch's part.

Also there are too many obstacles in the way on every map.

It seems that Treyarch believes that they have to really really overbalance the game. Which would allow new players to be able to play with veterans on equal playing ground no matter how skilled you are. This however is a {[(HUGE}]) problem. They almost take skill out of the equation all together.

I honestly feel that the game shouldn't be catered to newbies.

It should allow them to pick it up quickly and learn on the go, which Treyarch did somewhat well at least with combat training, but keep anything like that out of multiplayer and let the battles be determined only by skill.

Also Activision is a money-grubbing whore of a company.

Zombies is alright though. Some pretty cool ideas were thrown in there. The survival maps could have been done a little different. Mayber a little bigger.

Tranzit just takes a while to get used to. Once you do however it's pretty cool. Will be really upset if the easter egg really requires 4 people to do. Other than that it's awesome.

Single player has some interesting things added to it that make it slightly more enjoyable, especially to the crowd that don't have internet. But how many times can you save the United States from total annihilation?

I would say nay. Don't buy it unless you like remakes of remakes of remakes of remakes... you get the point.

Continue playing decent games like Assasin's Creed 3, Dishonored, Skyrim (for some other system other than PS3). Or just play great old games like Xenogears, Secret of Evermore, or Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

    Screw the popular choice.

It's not better than MW3, I have a hard time even considering it better than the original Blops.
