Matchmaking now based on Latency & Ping, not region in Black Ops 2

David Vonderhaar has just confirmed via Twitter that Black Ops 2 MP’s matchmaking system will be based upon your latency and ping, not your region.

This is a new feature, as MW3 does matchmaking based upon regions. This may help with connection issues and allow better connectivity with host.

 

Seems like a good idea in theory. Thoughts?

    Sounds good to me. That way no one gets put into foreign lobbies...or at least a lot less. Lol. I have slightly above average internet (comcast) so I am not worried. Lag has not usually effected me all that much. It is usually due to my lack of cat like reflexes. Lol.

    Hopefully it works well compared to the regional matchmaking in Black Ops.

     

    Locale Only was a terrible concept in my opinion considering you would still be matched up with players using Default.

    LOL I know what you mean about the reflexes. Mine aren't what they used to be.

     

    I just want the connections to be stable and have a lot less WTF moments than I have had in MW3. Matchmaking is like a box of choclates on there... I never know what I'm going to get.

    Will be interesting to see Vims. I know that you, myself, and gallp have spoken about this numerous times over the course of this Forum's existence. Not much else matters if the connections are a mess.

     

    The nice thing about Black Ops 2, at least... is that if I am having a bad night with connections I can go play Combat Training lol.

    I guess we'll find out when the game launches.

     

    Combat Training will be my go-to mode if the connection isn't up to scratch.

    can't wait to see what the best money can buy internet i haz a 2 ping to mars brigade makes of it

     

    serious note though people will have to get their heads around quality session does not = local session

    Well said as always Macc. I think we all just want a good online experience, no matter how they give it to us.

     

    The funny thing is, I enjoy playing with people from all over. I think it is interesting meeting people from different walks of life.

    Yeah me too, but I dont use xbl for that, I go outside and talk to people in person to do so. 

     

    Its difficult to meet people from other walks of life when you're both trying to blow each others head off, unless your definition of walks of life is the camper, the rusher, the quickscoper, the 9 year old, the troll, the racist, the mic spammer, the racist 9 year-old quickscoping rushing camper troll that mic spams, and the network expert
