Moderator: Let's steer away from the following term.

Posted by Foxhound-Pro on Aug 14, 2012 1:32 PM

"**** Train"

It's visually offensive and offensive in many ways.

Thanks.

    I agree.

But hey, I can't expect much from nOObs. The nOObs are the ones that came up with that term. I'm also guessing that whoever came up with that term is no older than 15 and they probabally think its funny, which it is not.

Well it kinda says what ur doing, u are abusing in some way the one track minded AI enemy. As it is an accepted term in the community I can understand it being not suited for the forum.

Just to clear it up... No one uses it as a joke/finds it funny. It's just a term that stuck and is now used by a lot of players and it more than likely won't change. Yes, I would like it to, something more appropriate would be nice as it could be used on the forums, but I don't see it coming soon.

i agree. **** is not funny and its not a joke. everybody should just say train cuz it still gets the point across. there no need to offend or hurt anybody over a video game

i agree in many ways aswell, but as all things, words evolve over time, along with their meanings. Just think of some of the terms that were used back then. If we said those things back then, we would in a much worse state then we are in now. I dont like the word, but its what people say now, and that will never stop.

Agree with him. Through history a lot of words have become accepted in all day use that where unacceptable 5 year back. If ppl can come up with a better catching name for it, ppl will replace the old with the new.

Is Rtrain okay?  Saying train takes away the idea of what you are doing in BO.  Rtrains says what you are doing...without saying what you are doing.

Yea how about just say Circles like alot of people say or like zombiefood said just say Trains(even though "Running A Train" still means something the Moderators probably won't like) or let's come up with something new and see if it sticks, how about "Killing Zombies" <-----Smarta** I know and as I type this a little corny sorry everybody

I hate the term, but the only way its going to change is if someone comes up with some other immature and funny name for it, which will probably still turn out to be offensive. You should start a poll vote or something for name suggestions (at least to be recognised on the forums) to stop people saying this.

Just saying trains could work too, or running trains, or hording zombies, but chances are it wont change unless people like syndicate, chris smoove, ngt zombies etc. star using those terms

Meh.. why would **** train be any worse then murder train, kill train etc. Its the context its used in that matters I think everyones being a bit precious. The definition of the word **** extends well beyond the crime.

That term - or the first word of it - is something that we (women gamers) have been trying to remove from gaming vernacular for years and years. For a woman that term evokes a visceral, emotional response, even if it's unintended.

Just use another word. Be the guy that makes a new gaming term.

I feel strongly enough about it that I don't play with or socialize with anyone that uses this term. Period. When I first joined the Gaming community back in Delta Force PC days, it's use was rampant. I am proud to say that I rarely hear it anymore, even in pubs.

It's time to bring up the level of class in our gaming world. Will you join me?

I agree, the term is offensive.  It's too bad.  I don't think I've ever personally used it.  When I am running a train, it's running a train.  Why would it be a **** train?  You're not forcing yourself sexual onto the zombies, you're killing them in an organized fashion.

Call it what you want, but I agree with the Moderators on this one.

For those who don't know..."Trains" are what highly skilled players use to get to higher rounds.  They group of a bunch of zombies, without shooting them, then take off!  The zombies follow, with each zombie running in the same line, slowing one another down because they don't know how to cut in line.  Then the player shoots them down like sitting ducks.

The original word...which will not be mentioned here, is used to describe how the Zombies fall in such a way that leaves the player with satisfaction while leaving the Zombies with the feeling like the just got screwed.

    Tada!  How'd I do Treyarch?

Btw, "Trains" is the new term I use to describe such an action.  It neither says what I'm doing or implies any kind of violent or hateful act.

We usually just say Group of Rosay Boys(An inside joke about old school Jock gangs).

Or you can always say, "I got a huge horde with me."

    Others:

    - Bullet Train

    - Mammoth Group

    - I'm rounding up an entire Spawn

    - The Swarm

    - A String of Zomz

    - Point Chain

    - Horde

    - I got a shooting Range over here!

    - Truck Load

    - Z Monorail

    - Deadites

    - Little Rascalz

    - Tandum Bus

    - Dead Chain

    - Blood Bus

    - Torture Train

    - Bloodsoaker

    Just some ideas.

Funny thing is, I had never heard that tem prior to reading this thread.  It's a short lived term that this thread has given validity to and maybe a bit more life.

Sticky the thread and once a day search for that term on these forums.  Ban everyone that uses it for the next week or so and I think you will be rid of them and their lame terminology.

Very true, but if people don't know about it, then hear someone use it in a game, it can have a very harsh consequence.

      i.e.

Like my child may be in the other room and hear the term from someone else online. Then use it at school in front of their friends and get in a lot of trouble.

"One kid screamed the term in my ear and I was forced to take off my headset, then my cousin, who is 10 years old, heard them scream it and started to repeat it. Not knowing what the "R" word meant, his mom tanned his hide. And it wasn't even his fault."

It's monkey see, monkey do. And I'm sure there are more instances that I'm unaware of.

It would be very hard to censor online MP. Even since the characters in Zombies say some pretty vile things.

I would consider making new catch phrases that the Characters say to replace the term in question.

Then perhaps the community would start to use the slang form the game they love in stead of the current inappropriate term.

      Just my opinion though.

Let me know what you guys think.

the game is 18 and up enough said lol what can u expect? i say this in zombies or a train is coming u know but thats cos other people taught it me or suppose i picked it up but!! i just use it to say theres zombies coming or a whole you know train is coming problem is people are too over sensitive in the respect it only means with zombies nothing else but seems too much political correctness or softness has stepped up its just a game and when the zombies get you well they do physically r*pe the hell out of you with slaps hence the term r*pe train you know so il say $hit i just got r*ped the admin says dont be offensive with it but the games 18 and up and what the in game characters come out with is unreal and funny im 25 i do find some of it abit offensive and vile and im used 2 it what they come out with but as i say the games 18 and up and not for kids people will always use the term not even sure where ppl got it from but ya know it just means zombies kicking your ass when online or there coming thats it!

what do you all think i am partially right but if you dont agree fair enough also sorry if i offend anyone if anyones going to pounce on me for my views on that i dont know what other word ppl use it derogatory as online but somethings just dont go away :/ .... anyway thats my view

but also at the same time i do have respect for someone if it offends them or upsets il refrain from saying it but anyway thats it.

I don't think trying to protect kids is fox's primary reason for banning the phrase but rather to maintain a degree of class and integrity on the forums.

Perhaps people being too sensitive is a reaction to bad manners but I am not sure.

I think **** train is referring to a train of zombies that the player "****s" not a train that "****s" the player. either one works though

I don't even use that stupid term, I would always say someting like "Im gonna run a train..."

The person who got that popular (and maybe made it up) was syndicate, I dont like that kid for nothing. He has no respect for anyone and says whatever he wants, (yes he can but thats not what i mean). He says things like r***e and the Lord's name in vein. Now that is something very American for him to say and hes from the UK so I think he just says it to seem "cool".

So Fox, you can blame it all on him.

Using the Lord's name is a big deal that shouldn't be taken lightly... Now to OP.... That term is inappropriate and shows ignorance in said persons vocabulary. I think a good term would be "stacking up the domino's" then that way in the middle of killing you can say "knocking them down" or "stack 'em up and knock'em down.

    God Bless!!!

It won't wear off, it's one of those terms that shows our social ignorance and it probably WASN'T a kid 15 years or younger who came up with it. Kids may be more naive that adults as to what's socially acceptable but we adults can be very ignorant as well. The first rule to fixing something is stop blaming someone else....

Anyway if you don't like it just 1) don't use it and 2) when in a conversation/chat with someone who mentions it then promptly explain your displeasure with the word and let them know you'd really appreciate it if they didn't use it. Odd part is when I tried to look up the term R*** Train in the dictionary all it talks about are video games

Anyway the supposed AI impovements of BO2 may help date the term but in all likelyhood it will not completely vanish.
