Stealth vs Camping?

Posted by iivrruummii on Aug 21, 2012 5:36 PM

I am happy that they are still supporting Stealth and are trying to crackdown on Campers.  Anyone else excited for this great move in the right direction by Treyarch?

Soooo agree... this plus the new load out system has me more exited for this COD then any one past. I cant wait to see how being able to trade a seocndary for an extra perk or whatnot changes how ppl look at the loadout.. it looks to me like there will be alot more freedome in how you play and less of a do it this way becuase its what works with what you are given.

people need to try to get a stealth class, and it can be countered. 'normal' classes may have no or few stealth parts. as long as they dont try to remove campers by there map designs, the game should work fine. if you design your map around no campers, you also desiging a map around terrable spawns. id much rather deal with camper infested map than terrable spawning.

I am entirely against campers but i think they need to reverse the effect of it, Hidden while moving but shown when standing still? it needs to be reversed so people can actually be a snipers (and i know that i extremely rare in a CoD game. That and it seems more logical if the moving shrub walking down the street is detected compared to the motionless shrub in the tall grass.

Make sniper maps where it is a true sniper match.  You cant switch spawns and only spawn on one side of the map.  Make the map even in terms of fairness.  No advantages.  Have snipers lay in fox holes,etc.....

I definitely think it is a move in the right direction. For too many people, "stealth" has become head-glitching over a wall or laying prone/ crouching in one spot,  I think the changes are positive. It will challenge people to take down UAVs, and take away the unfair advantage corner campers have had in previous titles. I love that the score streak system will no longer reward players for not playing the objective or staying in a corner racking up kills.

Stealth players will still be able to play their style, they will just have to be a bit smarter about it.

    I like it alot.

I've always loved to have that flanking/behind enemy lines playstyle so the change won't effect me, but I like where Treyarch is going.

I like it a lot as well.

In every COD since MW2 i've run with ghost/cold blooded/assassin/whatever on all the time.

I don't camp at all because I get bored of staying still after literally 10 seconds. But I don't like the enemy knowing where I am because of constant UAV spamming.

I've always been the guy running the stealth set up with a silenced MP5 and flanking the enemy its my favourite way of playing this game. Esp when going solo cos you can't trust the other players to watch your back.

You've been fooled then for thinking that. Have u seen what's happened to the counter UAV, u can only earn it after the care package. That's about 5-6 kills just for a counter UAV. Thats ridiculous!  Blantanly penalizing stealth players. Not to mention how ghost and even this new perk called Hard wired that makes u immune to counter UAV. What's the point in making it so hard to get and when u do get it, its made more or less useless as players are encouraged to shoot it down cause of that new Score-streak system and other players using hard wired.

Stealth simply isn't an option anymore in BO2.

Yes I am happy. I am sure camping will STILL be a problem in BO2. But TreyArch certainly made what a believe is a bold and very smart decision with the Ghost perk and the whole "only while moving" thing. Hopefully that does detour people from camping in a corner with Ghost and a suppressed weapon. That style of game play is not stealth. Stealth is moving around and flanking enemies and what not. And Ghost will still work fine for that. Seems like a smart move to me.

"That style of game play is not stealth. Stealth is moving around and flanking enemies and what not. "  while remaining hidden, u failed to mention.  Its made nearly impossible to flank an enemy if your appearing on his radar,  before you've even chucked a flash, he's probably moved away because you're on his radar or he's chucked a grenade at you before you've even chucked the flash. Most of the time you have to stop to shoot, to accurately aim at the enemy and kill him. Can't do that with the new ghost perk, I will show up on the radar and before I know it, his team mates know where I am shooting from, and are slaughtering me, trapping me in, and chucking grenades and what not.
Seems like a disaster to me.

Err no because as you move you're invisible on radar. And have you ever played CoD? UAV isn't a constant red dot its only when the wave passes over. Plenty of time to get the drop on him.

I usually get a decent amount of flanking kills and I don't often use Ghost/Assassin or even a suppressed weapon (although it does help a lot). I know a lot of players that loved utilizing the Ghost/Assassin perk are angry at the changes. And I also know that not all of you are campers. Some are good solid players. I guess we will just have to wait till the game comes out and see how it all works before we know if it is going to be a disaster or not. It has been my experience that in the months leading up to a new COD release, many gamers get up in arms about the new changes and in the end, when the game actually drops, the changes are not near as crippling as we all thought they would be. Ironically, it is always other things that we never saw coming that end up giving us all new crap to complain about once the game is out.

Very well put, Paragade.  I think there is a vast misunderstanding out there that they will always show up on the mini map when not moving, but that is only true when a  UAV is in the air.

In hardcore I don't see a problem with people on my team camping. I hate being on a team where some guys go 5-14 running around like crazy zombies. You got six people so I like having a good mix. I love snipers too. A good team will balance out everything and if a sniper or camper is in a good spot taking the other team out then why does he have to be moving when a UAV goes up? I camp sometimes too, if I can lock down an area for a bit. I never stay for too long cause you'll get flushed out. Taking cover and playing smart is not always camping either. I run and gun too but if I'm getting shot up then I will go to cover. Campers get a bad name in cod and people don't realized that locking an area down for a bit is actually smarter than getting shot up. I agree that we have to wait for the release to see how it works but ghost should be just that, otherwise call it something else.

It's not that camping is a problem, it's the huge number of people that do it. I agree that it's not always bad to camp but so many people do it excessively because they don't know how to get better or because they just want to boost their K/D. This new ghost perk will help some people try new things instead of camping all the time and the K/D boosters will have more trouble... well boosting.

i look at it like this if i can go 34-4 in hardcore kill confirmed in mw3 running around shooting then y cant everyone else, i mean its like campers think there gonna die in real life or something lol. its always the same thing when u call someone out would u be running out there if u were in the army fighting? well its a video game have fun i know u cant possibly have fun sitting in a corner waiting. i like the changes to the game and hope that all the bull crap like in mw3 will sorta disappear. i also understand that everyone is different all im saying is show a little skill at the game cause mostly the ppl camping are the ones who have been playing since the first cod. mw3 was my first then BO then mw2 i mean but im a good player if ur not good just practice u know what i mean dont sit there in a damn corner. i think they should actually do it like this if someone wants to camp then give them a set time limit like 20 seconds after that take points kill or just let them die would make the game better
