Fridays Topic: The MOAB effect

COD,

 

The funniest thing happened yesterday, playing with two others great players from our forums (game mode: domination) we got MOAB'd. A first for me, and something I never want to experience again. 

 

My first reaction, Holy s---i-t, second I started to laugh (not sure why).

 

Not since MW2 have I experienced one of these game ending bombs against me. This is the thing, we won the match! Crazy, but the two others that were playing with me (As mentioned Great players) held on to the win against the MOAB and a better team!

 

Honestly we were lucky, the other team got cocky, but we took the win from them and gave us the good game that was deserved. Being MOAB'd isnt something I looked forward to, but atleast I can atest to having played through one and won!

    I've been moab'ed several times.

     

    After a few, they don't hurt as bad.  

     

    But yes, happy Friday.

    Nice!  Wish I was there.  It's funny, I remember my first MOAB...it was from a booster on Village.  I reported him and found out a few weeks later he got de-ranked.  I have been legitimately MOAB'd as well but it's just funny that my first MOAB was from a booster. 

     

    What happened to you yesterday!?!?!?  We were killing it in HCKC!!!!!

      Yea this guy was just getting kills in Domination and got it, dude I started to watch the Olympics and couldn't stop, those are some good games right now. Definitely for today's clan ops ill be on.

      You were at the main menu... I guess you were offline (IRL). Having you on the team would have made a bunch easier.

       

      Afterwards we got into HC domination (lzjar11 went offline at this point) and my 1st game was great. Then I went back to sucking (always won though)

    MOABs, what a waste of time and effort in objective games.  All they do is detract people from going for the objective, and for what?  Six kills.  I nearly always run with specialist and if not already using it then I switch to one with assassin pro, problem solved, just one extra death.  They rarely if ever have a game changing effect in objective games, and I'd say about 9/10 times the team that gets a MOAB ends up losing which says it all really.

      Good point senna,

       

      It is a distraction and an unnecsary thing, because it was my first I had no idea what to expect from it.

      That is a good point... but because we were practically 3v6 (half of the team had no clue what they were doing) we were behind most of the match. I think when they got the MOAB they got defocused and cocky and we stole the win from them.

       

      err... I guess by this response I am obviously one of the 2 players lzjar11 mentioned... but I would not say I am a great player (thanks for the accolades).

       

      Which brings me to another point:

       

      We could have had a much easier time if the other 3-4 members on are team actually played!  One guy on our team left as soon as they callled in the MOAB.  He simply refuses to have one called in on him.  That left 3 of us to take on a 4-5 man clan + a decent random they picked up...

    Been MOAB'd legitimately once, and it was during Christmas and my team had 4 X-mas noobs. Other than that, I been MOAB'd many times by infected boosters.... Which I don't see how/why someone NEEDS to boost to get a MOAB in the easiest game mode to get one.

    I have only been MOAB'd once and that was on Bootleg TDM against a clan of 3-4, my team of randoms including myself were helpless against the guy who got it, he was so fast we couldn't touch him.  It was actually a close match just couldn't stop the one player who won it for them.

    I have 429 plus hours of gameplay time. I have been legit MOAB'd 4 times, i have won 3 of those 4 games. The one i lost was TDM the first week the game was out playing with randoms. The other 3 were all in domination IIRC we won by quite a bit too. All 3 times it was a very good headglitcher that posted up somewhat out of the way of any objective, we had poor communication to realize the guy was on that big of a streak to put an end to it, but regardless of that they all had zero impact on the game since the dude was ignoring the objective.

     

    I have had much tougher matches going up against fearless objective players who all run emp. MOABS in objective games are seldomly a difference maker, that is why you see so many losing domination moabs. When I or my teammates get one it is usually a giant butt kicking to begin with it still has little impact on the match.

    I'm not really sure what to make of that MOAB, he was sprinting around the map with the PP90 if I remember correctly. Maybe it was those 3 other yahoos on our team that made it so easy for him.

     

    Anyways that's the most fun I've had on CoD in a long time, kinda ironic when you take into account how many times I died and the fact that we got MOAB'd

    Thankfully ive only ever been MOAB'd by boosters. When i hear 1 called in,i usually watch the match via theater mode and have always found cheaters,either by boosting,or using the pipe glitch in foundation.

    I have been moabd legit only once and it was surprising because the entire game we had an reaper ac130 or n osprey but that person dropped a Moab non the less we won the game but that guy sure was cocky he got a Moab not realizing his Moab didn't mean **** since his team lost
