6 things we want to see in Black Ops 2 zombies.

1. More weapons: Let’s get this one out of the way first. It should be obvious that the collection of available weapons would be bigger and badder in this outing of Zombies, but there’s more to it than just numbers. I hope to see a fine tuning of the available weapons, having a better spread of bad to good, instead of the standard wall weapons suck and so do most Box weapons. Give us more variety so that different competitive strategies emerge. Eliminate duplicate sniper rifles and other ineffective weaponry. Further, Black Ops 2′s futuristic setting should lend itself more to the Zombies esthetic, allowing for the Zombies usual sci-fi arsenal to blend better with the “normal weapons”. 2. More zombie types: The main Zombie type in Black Ops comes in a few varieties, ranging from shambling slow to in-your-face fast. The variety here is somewhat lacking and predictable. The boss characters/rounds that do exist offset the monotony of this quite well, but eventually just serve as ammo-recovery fodder once your team figures out how to effectively defeat the boss. I hope to see more variety in zombie abilities/behavior which make each match a new challenge. Der Riese does this well by adding in zombie dogs to regular rounds at random. Moon accomplishes this as well by introducing teleporting zombies, which look similar to normal crawlers, adding to confusion and chaos. 3. Kill streak bonuses: Regular CoD multiplayer has benefited from this feature for a long time. Why not Zombies? Kill 200 zombies without taking a hit? Get a free ammo reload. Kill 500? Gain the ability to “seal” a zombie entrance for a round. The sky’s the limit here. 4. Loadout customization: For me, the most boring part of a Zombies match is the first 10 rounds or so. Running around with a pistol, building up a few points, hoping to land an early Ray Gun rarely works out and gets monotonous fast. So, again taking from regular multiplayer, let us build out our own initial loadouts for our characters. Over time we could unlock better weapons and gear, customizing them with scopes and shotgun attachments, etc. Admittedly, this would have to fundamentally change the “increasing difficulty per round” mechanic of the Zombies model. 5. More maps, less DLC: Given the track record of CoD DLC in the past, I hold little hope for this one. As a primarily Zombies player, it is hard for me to justify ~$15 for one new map. Give us more bang for our buck. For example, the Rezurrection DLC was great because it netted me 5 new maps in one purchase (despite 4 being classic maps, but I won’t go there…). 6. Zombify downed teammates: I for one am tired of playing online matches with strangers who, when downed, quit the match and ruin the fun for everyone else. So instead, let the downed player become a shambling zombie, out to get his “comrades” who let him die. This would be the ultimate zombie, with real intelligence, and a vendetta.
