6 things we want to see in Black Ops 2 zombies.

Posted by The_Toughest_Woods on Jul 13, 2012 5:47 AM

1. More weapons: Let’s get this one out of the way first.  It should be obvious that the collection of available weapons would be bigger and badder in this outing of Zombies, but there’s more to it than just numbers.  I hope to see a fine tuning of the available weapons, having a better spread of bad to good, instead of the standard wall weapons suck and so do most Box weapons.  Give us more variety so that different competitive strategies emerge.  Eliminate duplicate sniper rifles and other ineffective weaponry.  Further, Black Ops 2′s futuristic setting should lend itself more to the Zombies esthetic, allowing for the Zombies usual sci-fi arsenal to blend better with the “normal weapons”.

2. More zombie types: The main Zombie type in Black Ops comes in a few varieties, ranging from shambling slow to in-your-face fast.  The variety here is somewhat lacking and predictable.  The boss characters/rounds that do exist offset the monotony of this quite well, but eventually just serve as ammo-recovery fodder once your team figures out how to effectively defeat the boss.  I hope to see more variety in zombie abilities/behavior which make each match a new challenge.  Der Riese does this well by adding in zombie dogs to regular rounds at random.  Moon accomplishes this as well by introducing teleporting zombies, which look similar to normal crawlers, adding to confusion and chaos.

3. Kill streak bonuses: Regular CoD multiplayer has benefited from this feature for a long time.  Why not Zombies?  Kill 200 zombies without taking a hit?  Get a free ammo reload.  Kill 500?  Gain the ability to “seal” a zombie entrance for a round.  The sky’s the limit here.

4. Loadout customization: For me, the most boring part of a Zombies match is the first 10 rounds or so.  Running around with a pistol, building up a few points, hoping to land an early Ray Gun rarely works out and gets monotonous fast.  So, again taking from regular multiplayer, let us build out our own initial loadouts for our characters.  Over time we could unlock better weapons and gear, customizing them with scopes and shotgun attachments, etc.  Admittedly, this would have to fundamentally change the “increasing difficulty per round” mechanic of the Zombies model.

5. More maps, less DLC: Given the track record of CoD DLC in the past, I hold little hope for this one.  As a primarily Zombies player, it is hard for me to justify ~$15 for one new map.  Give us more bang for our buck.  For example, the Rezurrection DLC was great because it netted me 5 new maps in one purchase (despite 4 being classic maps, but I won’t go there…).

6. Zombify downed teammates: I for one am tired of playing online matches with strangers who, when downed, quit the match and ruin the fun for everyone else.  So instead, let the downed player become a shambling zombie, out to get his “comrades” who let him die.  This would be the ultimate zombie, with real intelligence, and a vendetta.

What do you want from a brand-new installment of Call of Duty zombies?? Did you like this post and what did you agree/disagree with? Please feel free to write some comments below, we'd really like to hear your thoughts too!    Peaceout - The    Xx TheDoubleAteam xX

1 - Agreed, but can we please make the distinction between 'better' and 'more varied' weapons. I love that some zombie weapons are very unique (more so in World at War's weapon palette than Black Ops'), but many have very little distinctivity (If that's a word).

2 - Yes, but make them challenging like the Shangri-La specials and hellhounds were when mobbed and less annoying like the Kino Nova's were.

3 - F*ck that sh*t. Killstreaks should stay in multiplayer, killstreaks mean nothing when you're facing the undead, or should I say, braindead. (This is why someone's killstreak count meant nothing to me in MW3 once Infected came out)

    4 - Vehemently agree. M4A1 and Remington 870 here I come!

5 - I'm not fussed. It is Activision though, so unlikely.

    6 - A few obvious issues there.

      1) More weapons totally agree but with meaning, no more soft little guns that don't even kill a zombie PaP at round 25 (not without emptying the whole dam gun on 1 zombies)

      2) Hell yeah, shangri-la had more zombies which where 'O dam run, don't get near'. The dog rounds were like indicator of a max ammo at the end of the round, not really bosses or any of that.

      3) NO, but they need to change the system so u can't get like for f*cking 18 rounds no max ammo (happpened to me a while ago)

      4) No, the guns are good as they put them in zombies

      5) Agree fully on that one

      6) Run, noob zombie army!

    1) i think they should keep all weapons in but make them better for zombies so you can do better with different weapons.. Snipers, LMG's, SMG's, Assault rifles, Wonder weapons.. Etc.. i think people shouldn't be grabbing for the same weapons all the time.

2)All zombies in black ops: Walkers, Runners, Crawlers, Hell dogs, Nova Crawlers, The Scientist, Arcade zombies, Cosmic silver back, Space Monkeys, Arcade Hulks, George Romero, Screamers, Napalm zombies, Zombie monkeys, Cosmonauts, Phasing nova crawlers a total of 16!!! zombie types thats HEAPS, your statement is invalid.

    3) i think this is a good idea except maybe instead of stuff like that maybe like normal multiplayer killstreaks like 100 for a assault 200 for a Pegasus AGM 300 for a MAV 400 for a Carpet bomb..Etc.

    4) No... Sorry i like the idea of building up and advancing as the rounds go on.

    5) Yes and No... We do need more zombie maps BUT we also need multiplayer maps so that people can be involved in multiplayer to maybe 8 maps 4 zombie maps 4 multiplayer.

    6) No way that will take away the aspect of surviving or nothing, people would troll so hard get killed then kill everyone. so no.

    1) No. The amount of guns we have at current is fine, if you think they aren't good enough then that is just a reflection on your skill.

    2) No. The zombies we have are fine. The dogs were a good addition. The monkeys were pushing it a bit. George and The Astronaut were bad ideas. Added in as a "Hurr durr, lets make a boss character because that's what they all want" which was IMO a bad idea.

    3) No. Leave zombies and MP separate. People should stop trying to incorporate the two.

    4) NO! The point of zombies is that you all start as equals. If one person has a better starting loadout then the rest it becomes unfair on the rest.

    5) I would you had the choice to either, have a separate Zombies and MP DLC, and a combined one, that is slightly cheaper then buying the two individually.

    6) This could be exploited, say for instance you leave that zombie as the last alive in a round so you can repair windows and box farm, will it stay there indefinitely?

There will be 8 players who can cover your back. Plus if you die you knew the risk of being killed when you started firing.

True, but be honest, how many randoms do actualy help with anything. U always have some guys that will help u, good players that just wanted a full lobby to like u, but u also have ppl that really don't care about the team.

    As a reply

1.) DEFINITELY! - The fact that I'm making a giant **** train of zombies while quick scoping with the Dragunov is stupid and completely redundant. And the mpk isn't helping either when I get to level 20; it just gets annoying that sooner or later I'll have to get double-tap just to take out 2 of them.

2.) Totally agree - The original zombies and the fact that rushing around from window to window expecting a slap in the face is what terrorized and attracted so many zombie fans today, but like most things we fans want more excitement out the old-school formats we fell in love with. Imagine running around the corner and there be some twisted mutant; expecting the same old zombie to just spot us and start sprinting, instead we freak the hell out because it's the adrenaline rush in the first place which brought us here.

3.) I agree on certain terms - If Black-ops 2 does have new zombie modes when facing other human beings then why not? It'll void the dilemma of not being able to handle both zombies and humans coming at you, meaning that at least this way zombies fans won't stress out trying to get more kills or even pwn their non-brain dead opponents.

4.) To a point I agree - Treyarch promised us new zombie modes, so when the 2 vs. 2 vs. zombies format is released onto the streets we should be allowed to customize an AK with a noob tube just because the fact that the other team needs some sort of advantage over their foes. Yet, let's keep it out when it comes to the original survival mode.

5.) also a DEFINITELY! - Black ops had alot to love when it came to multiplayer(for the most part this is true) but there are alot more zombies fans than Treyarch actually imagined, especially being that zombies was a last minute mode when development was still at hand. So when all us zombies fans jumped to the DLC it was more of a freak out moment then just a normal let-down. I remember going crazy happy when the Resurrection DLC came onto my xbox, so come on Treyarch, let us zombie lovers have our glory too!

6.) Agree(only for the fact that new gameplay brings so much more publicity, making more fans want... well more!) - my caption says it all, this would be an entirely new reach into the world of zombie video games. I remember playing left 4 dead online watching my other teammates run along without me while I'm down thinking " wow I'd really like to jump at them and tear them apart just for not reviving me!"

My opinion on some new things (besides those I agreed to) :

1.) Less confusion on how to figure out the storyline - It's so hard for me to understand it, I mean for the most part it's understandable(and very good!) but I hate how they add easter eggs onto the maps and literally no one will know what any of them are until all the modders come into the lobbies and post it all over youtube(thanks for giving the surprise up guys!) Maybe even some of their own(Treyarch) videos like a movie that puts it all together once Black-ops 2 is out, I mean they have an enormous development team why not do that much for us?

2.) Another thing would be to do something crazy with barriers. I really couldn't sum up an entire idea at the moment. I do know that the barriers in zombies is what makes us players feel safe in those first couple rounds, then once we start to move on throughout the map, the majority of us ignore the barriers unless we're only a couple points away from the pack-a-punch. So all I'm saying is maybe include more or even less, maybe even make it to where we can't repair them until we've boughten some item or just not at all.

3.) To be able to give a team-mate ammo/gun or even points - We've all been in that situation, no one should disagree with me on those terms exactly. When I'm trying to beat my highest round duration, then it comes to I run out of ammo and I'm running around stabbing furiously, of course I'm begging for more bullets or even some points to buy this crappy wall gun. Then why not have Dempsey give Richtofen a spare ray gun, or even lend some cash? If the though of "well how will I stop in the middle of a zombie rampage and figure out how much points to give you?" gets too hectic then they should just put a set amount to run by your friend and grab the points really quick. Hell it's not like your RPK running out of bullets anytime soon..

      1. No i dont want an easier to understand storyline. Also the easter eggs are found out by people playing the map not modders. Shangri La and Moon they basically tell you what to do while you are doing it.

      2.No

      3. You can already give points with the hacker. Giving ammo and guns no.

I agree with all of them but in some of them there are several problems. For example In the customizable loadout the problem is that the PaP Version of the weapon you have.

    2) About zombifiying a downed player > I don't think it is going to work

1 reason is That : The player may choose to stay away from the players so they survive and he will get back alive the next round (possible Solution enabling saying to the player that if he downs one of the alive players he will get back to normal, but this will not work to everyone).

2 reason is that : The player won't have a chance against the other players.

Of course I would like to become a zombie when I die but it will make the game very easy.

I've got an idea about this feature. The idea is that when you are a zombie doing several things grand with some special points (that you have only when you are a zombie ,they get to zero every time you return to normal and when you die again you will have to gather the points again. These points will become points when you are back alive. they will be multiplied by 10 and the points you will earn will be the following:

Breaking one windows board : 1 Zombie point

    Hitting a player : 20 Z points each hit

    Downing a player : 50 Z points

    Dying :  - 5 points

Breaking perk machine : 100 Z Points ( may be done only to the active machines and the players lose that perk)

When you have more that a certain amount of points you will drop a Bonus (Nuke , MAX ammo ...) if you die (optional: but you will take half the the point would have taken.)

    Anyway you ideas are good

    1) more guns would be awesome

    2) New zombie would be awesome but not just 1 type. eg hellhound.. do what they did on shangri la with 2 special zombies.

    3) NO

    4) Would be ok'ish

    5) we should get map demos like up to 10 rounds and then decide if we want DLC or not, because they are only working on 1 too big fricking map

    6) yer after you get 1 person left who just plays with a crawler its annoying, but then you would get the people who blow themselves up just to become a zomibe which would be annooying....

But if they do it in 4z4 mode and you become a zombie to go after the enemy.. that would be cool

Becoming a zombie may turn out to be one-sided, especially if there are 8 players, perhaps spectating a zombie is a better idea.
