Bond games are starting to get unpopular, Do you think skyfall will infulence people to buy 007 Legends?

The sales for Bond games are dropping and other popular titles such as call of duty are dominating causing other less major titles to become forgotten and less popular(such as blood stone, goldeneye etc..). Do you think Skyfall will influence non-bond fans to buy 007 Legends due to the media and their hype about the movie?

 

I know a small group of Bond fans such as me and you reading this buy anything with 007 on the box, but i seriously think they are finally pulling the finger out and are gonna make this a great game with gadgets and classic Bond elements in it to make it good for Bond fans and people that are new to Bond gaming. I am not worried that this game is going too be bad, But what i am saying is that if they don't make this a good game and just make it a quick cash in for profits, Bond gaming will die out and Will never be the same again.

 

I am afraid it's all about the profits now a days, not making a brilliant game that will satisfy the fans and making it to be remembered as one of the "must have" games. If this is not the case for 007 legends, I will be very worried for the future of Bond. Just make it good Eurocom, Include what i have said in other discussions and take other people's views on this website from other comments and this will be one excellent Bond game.

 

p.s : I also expect a gunbarrel at the start of skyfall and this game with original Bond music theme and also great multiplayer. You made nightfire great, you sort of made GE reloaded great, don't muck 007 legends up please!  @_@

 

Thanks for any discussion/thoughts about this! Do you think this will be the best Bond game we have had in a while? Will it be more in the spotlight than usual due to skyfall's popularity or will it be the usual call of duty dominating the gaming spotlight and charts?! Thanks!

    There aint gonna be many games that outsell COD if any at all. and i doubt any of the james bond games will outsell them. i'm a huge bond fan and have every game released so far, and will be getting legends.

     

    as for COD thats just the way it is at the moment. the interest in it is falling away now, but it will still sell record numbers.

      I agree that people are getting bored with the 007 video games that are coming out at the moment, but that is because of the developers and publishers putting their own trademark stamp on the finished game.

       

      If they however develope the game themselves and not use major developers such as Activision and Eurocom they might have a much success in their games. Take for instance Goldeneye 64, an absolute classic game mainly because they used their own development team not another company.

        Yeah I totally agree! They are fun to play but they will never outsell big titles such as COD never in a million years. But what I was trying t say was that I think the release of "skyfall" will encourage people to buy 007 games again if they really enjoyed the movie.

         

        Yes N64 Goldeneye was fantastic and still is! They had everything that you would expect from a James Bond game such as a gunbarrel at the start, classic music, good gameplay, great graphics for the late 90's time period and the missions felt like the movie.

         

        I am still very intrigued from watching the two teaser trailers from 007 Legends but what I really want to find out about is: anymore gadgets apart from the smartphone and dartpen?, Is there going to be an opening credits scene with gunbarrel? and finally what about the multiplayer element to the game and can we play as villains?!

          I think it might attract players, either way I will still play it though. Hopefully the multiplayer has a higher population in this game. I can only seem to find a game in team conflict on reloaded...

           

          Anyway, I too loved goldeneye for the 64, but I don't think the developers were the only factor that made it a hit, the time it came out was perfect, and was one of the few great fps on the 64 (only other one I can remember is perfect dark).

           

          I think there may be more gadgets in the final game, maybe we can select which one we want to use? I wasn't really pleased with reloaded, it only had the smartphone I do miss the wrist watch...

           

          And i'm sure the classic gun barrel scene will make an appearence as well as classic conflict mode so we can play as villains...

            Yes I totally agree with you! I think it will attract more players and hopefully there will be more people playing my favourite game modes such as golden gun! I was not disappointed with GE reloaded, it did feel like a Bond game but it just didn't have all the things you would expect from a Bond game. For example there is no gun barrel whereas there is on the original. How could they not put a gunbarrel on when this is one of the highest grossing Bond movies and one of the most popular classic games?!

             

            Anyway I was satisfied with the amazing opining with the classic theme tune Goldeneye which did add to making it feel like a Bond game. Also there was no gadgets in Goldeneye, but on Legends there is! It feels like there is something missing when you play with no gadgets

    I Think It's Because lots of people don't really know James Bond. And Others Maybe only know the name. But I Think, the biggest Problem is. When There is a New COD out in stores, lots of commercials will be broadcast about COD, with James Bond, they don't have commercials

      Yeah, the first trailer I saw for reloaded on tv was after it came out.

        Yes I used to look at these fourms daily since May but now I don't anymore due to the lack of people on this website. Too much gamers are hyped about Black Ops 2 that is coming out. I personally got sick fed up of Call Of Duty a long time ago, in fact the last game I really enjoyed from COD was MW2. That's why I am going to buy this game (pre-order it) and get Black Ops 2 in 2013 when it's dirt cheap so I can try out the zombies mode

         

        I just can't wait for a new good Bond game and movie. I got so bored of the Daniel Craig games I have started to play the old Bond games such as Nightfire on my playstation 2. Oh the good days! I don't know if you have played the classics but they are great!

         

        Skyfall better not be a disappointment like Quantum Of Solace. That movie is horrible, there is too much action in it and the camera work is awful. I was watching it last night but turned it off half way through because it had such a bad storyline and boring action scenes that was filmed at such high speed I didn't have a clue what was going on....  O_O

         

        Anyway, Me and other fellow fans sure hope to see a good Bond game and movie, if they do a repeat of Quantum I will walk out of the movie, and if they do a cock up of 007 Legends I will sell it and bang my head against my desk thinking what a failure they have made to the franchise. They have already done enough damage!

    I think it would definitely boost its popularity level. James Bond games used to be the biggest shooters and so they should be. I think COD will soon get tiresome and then Battlefield will take over. Maybe this might be our chance to get back into the market.

      I seriously thought my account had been hacked there for a minute.. aha! I couldn't remember changing my account name!  

       

      Anyway, I totally agree that it will make the game more popular and attract more gamers who haven't played a Bond game before. Yes James Bond did used to be one of the best and biggest games you could buy in the late 90's and 00's. Until other titles arrived it just went downhill from then after the game Everything Or Nothing.

       

      That was the last Bond game done good and proper i'm afraid. But somehow my hopes are high for this game because of a few reasons: They are including such classic and iconic Bond movies, There are more gadgets not just the smartphone, you get to defeat many famous villains and of course I am sure the multiplayer will be great if we get to choose characters from Bond to the girls and Villains.

       

      Nightfire is a great games for multiplayer as you can choose character and have all the classic guns and game modes from Goldeneye from the N64. Yes this will hopefully be like old times and actually sell millions like Goldeneye and other titles. If they don't get there act together they will damage the sales and reputation of the whole franchise  Anyway thanks for commenting Aaron! :L

    They're clearly hoping Skyfall will boost sales, because as is being discussed elsewhere on the forum, they're certainly not promoting the game.

     

    I don't think it will help all that much, unless Skyfall ends up being a huge box-office sensation, which James Bond movies just don't ever seem to be.

     

    When it comes to shooters, there's Call of Duty, or Battlefield if you don't like that (they seem the same to me), or Halo if you don't like either of those. Anything else just isn't taken seriously, so even if people pick up the game, they don't play online, and multiplayer is what drives the industry now.

     

    The day of James Bond games being culturally relevant are long gone, I think in part because Rare never made a sequel to GoldenEye, so a true franchise was never established.  So in spite of the fact that there have been more good Bond games than bad ones, it's mostly just us, the established fan base, playing them.

      Yeah I think gamers who watch skyfall will be convinced to buy 007 Legends. Even better idea, in the cinema before the film plays, there could be a 007 legends advertisement! Yes, I am afraid they have not spent a single penny on advertising, YET. Quantum of solace was a box-office smash hit in America so even if it doesn't get a smash hit, it will still attract some gamers. It will definitely be better than QOS!!

       

      I don't know about you but no matter what game I play I ALWAYS play the campaign first. It is a shame that the multiplayer is a big part of the industry now, Because in 007 Legends the campaign is the opposite as it is a big part of the game.

       

      Legends will attract new Bond gamers but of course the fans like me and you will play them.

    yeah i think skyfall will make james bond fans like me or gamers will get influenced by the movie to get 007 legends. the problem about GE reloaded is the lack of popularity online. Say i go on psn and go on multiplayer yesterday i could only get onto 1 golden gun match and 1 team conflict match (say i just got the game yesterday) and then i got cutt off for trying to kill a guy that i already killed (who was the creater of that server) and then this morning i got onto a team conflict server but only had 2 games then i could'nt find anymore. I have 2 friends who are fans of the james bond games but one has it on xbox 360 but isnt aloud xbox live but wants it.and my other friend has quantum of solace on ps2 but he dosnt hav internet on it. he is a ultimate gamer but said dont get GE reloaded but i did coz i lov james bond games. the campaign is alright id say but i love multiplayer. i think they should make the new movies more classic not just punch and shoot.

     

    hey if u see me on GE reloaded on psn ill be really happy that someone who's on this forum go's online.

    id like to see more of u fans play online.
