Thor 2 Movie discussion

The God of Thunder is coming back and what's not to be excited about! Thor was a resounding success.
Alan Taylor is set to direct and he is really good. I am sure some of you have seen my compliments regarding his direction of the Game of Thrones TV show on HBO. He has directed some of the best episodes and I have no doubt he will turn out an amazing Thor film.
I am sure some of you have seen that Fandral has been recast due to the actor's committment to the show "Once Upon a Time". So the warriors three plus Sif will change a bit.
GU excited that the Enchantress will be in this film very cool, and very hot, lol.
I'm disappointed they need tor recast Fandal, I liked the guy they picked. Hopefully the next guy will be as good.
Has it been confirmed we'll get Enchantress? I know Hemsworth was talking about how much he'd love to get Charlize Theron for the part, though I think he also said he hasn't read any scripts either.
GU seems to be pretty certain about it but I have not seen anything specific, but it would make sense, she would be a great movie villain, sexy, grrr, ruthless, powerful, yeah that would be great. Theron would be awesome she has really surprised me as an actress.
The Fandral stuff is a shame but he is too busy shooting the next season of Once upon a Time, lame, lol. Hopefully we get more of the warriors three and Sif in this movie, they were fun every time they were on screen.
ive made a disscussion abot thor 2
Sorry, marvelman726. I locked the other thread because this thread was created first (the off topic section is probably a more appropriate place for it as well. Your thread was in the Marvel superhero games section). Feel free to continue to discuss the movie here and remember to check for pre-existing threads before starting a new one. ![]()
In movie related news.....looks like Zachary Levi confirmed that he will be playing Fandral in Thor 2. Anthony Hopkins also mentioned that he thought that he would have some scenes with Natalie Portman (so maybe she gets transported to Asgard). There may be more info revealed at Comic-con.
Thanks for the information Jad, love it. Really hope NP gets to Asgard that would be great. One thing is for sure the chemistry between her and Hemsworth was great unlike her and Annaking in SW, that was probably the worst love story ever told in movie history the one between Padme and Annakin. Neither actor was able to rise above the horrilble dialouge and lack of chemsitry, just sad. Love Lucas for his ideas but his dialouge is terrible and he is not a good director as he was unable to get his actors to really bring it, outsdie of Ewan McGregor and the guy who played the Emperor, but everybody else even the good actors just came off as flat.
But back to Thor really excited about the news!!!
I'm not sure as Levi as Fandral since I've only seen little commercial clips for Chuck, but it's pretty awesome to get Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins in a scene together! I also think it makes sense that after Thor 1 was about Jane Foster showing her world to Thor, the sequel goes the other way where Thor takes Jane to his world. Assuming the rainbow bridge is fixed or they find one of the back doors Loki had hinted at in the first Thor. Hopefully no more "Odin used a lot of energy" reasoning they used in Avengers which was pretty weak, though I know they couldn't devote a lot of time to getting Thor back to Earth. It just takes the punch outta the end of Thor when he gave his own happiness with Jane to stop Loki and strand himself in Asgard.
It's sounding like there's gonna be more time spent in Asgard in this one, which would be awesome, since I thought the Asgard scenes were generally better than the Midgard ones in the first movie.
More Asgard is good and more Heimdell he was awesome!!!
Hawk I thought the explanation of Odin using dark energy was good and Loki made it sound like it would have been hard for Odin to do and therefore only sent Thor because the earth was in danger from Loki and wouldn't send Thor just for love, lol, priorities you know, lol. But I do hope they repair the Rainbow bridge I mean they should be able to do it since they built it once. Do want to see NP hanging out in Asgard but will Odin approve of his son's love for a mere mortal, hmm.
I'm really looking forward to Thor 2 after reading these and the villain is confirmed to be Malekith the accursed

Okay so the lead for the head villain was cast and it looks like the Dark Elves are going to be the main bad guys in this, which I like. They have a lot of magic and are not nice guys, lol. Very interested to see how they are going to do this but it looks like most of Thor will take place off of Earth and I like that a lot.
Yeah, it's sounded like it was gonna be the Dark Elves for a while. They don't exactly have the same draw as Loki does, as a villain, so there's definitely gonna have to be some other important stuff going on, on the side, then. I'm glad it won't be on Earth too much, though, since I thought the first movie was better outside of Earth than it was during the parts on Earth.
Asgard stuff was better but I did like Thor's resurrection that was very cool with the hammer flying to him and him getting the ultimate shock to the heart, lol. Liked the Destroyer fight as well.
There's some cool pictures of Sif from the set of Thor 2! It's looking very Game of Thrones-y which I'm sure would please Iron.
And here's some more with Thor on set. Looking good! I like the little changes in the suit/armor.
I like the bare arm look better myself, but it looks really good! But I liked the armor in Thor 1 and it's basically the same, haha. It looks like Thor and Sif are protecting the village from the Orc-looking guys. Good to see Sif getting in on the action more than she did in the last movie, hopefully we'll get more Warriors Three too!
The pictures look great!! Very exctied that this is more based in Asgard versus earth. Hopefully we get a lot of the warriors three and Sif.

First look (although probably not final version) at the villain. He has some dots on his face, probably for some CGI enhancement of some sort. Mt first impression - looks good. From what I've seen of Malekith, his look in the comic is very......well "comic book-y". I like what they've done to adapt him into the MCU. I'm looking forward to seeing a "final version".
I'm not too sure about the "normal" side of his face. He looks a little deformed The black side doesn't look bad and the armor looks great, but I'd wanna see a few more better shots of him. I hope they don't make him look too Orc-ish though.
A while back it was reported that Jaime Alexander (Sif) was injured on set. She recently reported some more details of her injury-
“It was raining, it was dark outside, it was like 5 in the morning — and I went down a metal staircase and slipped and slipped a disc in my thoracic spine and chipped 11 of my vertebrae. I knocked my left shoulder out of place and tore my rhomboid on my right side . . . It took me out of filming for a month. I heal really fast. Everyone thinks it’s really funny to tease me about staircases now that I fell down one . . . I’m walking in heels again though, so that’s a good sign.”
Ouch! Sounds like a pretty speedy recovery, though, so that is good.
That sounds pretty painful. Jaime is tough! Amazing to believe she came back to the set after only a month. I hope they didn't cut her out of the script too much while she recovered.
Wow that sounds horrible for Jamie, but Hawk is right she is tough, lol. Hard for me to get too into this movie with IM3 coming out but so far everything about it looks really good and I love the director, he is excellent!!
Personally I CANNOT wait for the new Thor movie. Thor has always been my favorite Marvel hero ever since I was little. I'm a die hard fan so I am slightly biased, but yeah the Thor sequel looks like it is going to be fantastic so far. I like the choice of villain, the plot (that we know of so far) and the cast. It definitely has potential.
A little bit of stuff from Jamie Alexander-
“I just finished shooting about a week and a half ago. There's going to be a bit of a darker feel and obviously a lot more action. We get to explore different realms a lot more and you see a lot more Asgard; and you get to know the people of Asgard. There is more [character development] with Sif. We sort of explore the Thor-Sif relationship a little bit; kind of [in a romantic way]. It's more like getting a feel of who these people are, how the way they are with each other. It was really fun for me and Chris. Him and I are almost like brother and sister too, so I was like maybe that translates into 'ohh they love each other on camera.' We had a good time making that movie.”
“That was hard at first [returning with a new director] because I didn't know what to expect. I love Kenneth Branagh very much He was a huge staple in my life because he launched my career. I gotta say, however, it is always great working with new people. Alan Taylor has brought a whole new vision to Thor. We've remained our own characters obviously, so there's still that similarity between the first and second one. But there's a darker feel to this one; a little more Gladiator-ish, a bit more viking-ish. So I'm really excited to see how it turns out.”
“The script did [feel more rooted in the comic book stuff]. I could read certain scenes and actually see how someone would do the drawings on the page. With that sense, Marvel was great; they said 'make it your own.' We just have a great team. I have been very lucky in my career. It was slightly different [with Zachary Levi coming in], because he's not Josh Dallas, but he's fantastic. And I've know Zach for years. He was actually one of the first choices for Fandral, so it's great to have him on board. He's definitely Fandral, and he's such a lovely guy, team player and really sweet. Everybody welcomed him with open arms and he's definitely a part of the family.”

Similar topics but probably a different interview -
(on working with different directors)
Two very different people, but both have extraordinary visions for what the film should look like and what it is going to look like. Alan, I feel like the second installment of Thor is much darker, much more rooted in what’s going on in the soul, whereas Ken’s version definitely had that soulfulness but was also lighter and there’s an elegance to his film….I was nervous going into the second one. I meet Alan, he has great ideas, super open to what we want to do as well and knows that we were the character once upon a time. So we can do it again and he puts his spin on it. He’s got some incredible shots in that film. I really enjoyed him a lot.
(on Sif's role in the sequel)-
You get to experience more of who she is on the inside. You get to see her in a more feminine way and we do explore the Thor/Sif relationship a little bit. That was fun…I definitely have action. But there are scenes, we have a few scenes where we don’t have any action at all and it was actually a lot of fun to play that because you’re not hiding behind a sword or an explosion, it’s just here, in your face. It was nice to see who she really is and that sort of thing.

I'm excited to see more development of Sif! I wonder if they plan to ease Jane out of the picture and go with Sif as the love interest? Wasn't there rumors about Natalie Portman not returning because she mad about the previous director for Thor 2 leaving?
I'm excited about Sif finally getting some time in the spotlight now, too. She had some nice moments in the first movie, and there were some little nods to the possible relationship between her and Thor, but she didn't really get enough time in the spotlight. Now that this movie's gonna spend more time in Asgard, Sif (and maybe the Warriors Three, too!) should get some more development. Overall, I just want to see more Asgard in this movie, instead of all the time they spent on Earth in the first one, so I'm pretty excited about that.
Its no secret around here that Thor is my favorite character (besides maybe thunderstrike. lol jk) So I am really pumped for the sequel! Looking forward to seeing a lot more of asgard.
Here's a description of the new trailer. Sounds pretty cool and I can't wait to see it, hopefully for the first time while I'm sitting in the theater waiting for IM3 to start! When Thor says "If you betray me....I will kill you" I totally heard it in Hemsworth's voice. I'm really excited to see what they have in store for this one!
Great find, Jad! Count me in on wishing its in front of IM3, I really wanna see it for myself. All the solo movies look great, but I think right now I'm most excited for Thor 2. That might change when we start to learn more of Cap 2 though, haha.
I'm probably most excited for Cap 2 myself, though Thor 2 is a close second. They all look awesome, but Cap was my favorite phase one movie (besides Avengers), with Thor right behind it. We don't really know that much about Cap 2 yet, I guess, but I'm excited to see what they do with the Winter Soldier story. Thor 2 should be awesome, though, too, with it being set in a lot of the more mythical realms instead of spending so much time on Earth. The other Asgardians should get a lot more screen time, too.
Hey Jad some good stuff. Hard for me to get too excited about Thor with IM3 almost here but like you I truly hope they show the trailer before IM3 or it is the reveal after IM3.
That Thor poster is so f'ing cool, I love it! The lightning sparking off Thor's hammer and the blizzard surrounding him looks awesome.
Cool! Can't wait for the new trailer, and I'm definitely not waiting for Iron Man 3 to see it. Totally gonna watch it as soon as it goes online.
Holy crap, the Thor trailer is amazing!
Yeah, I couldn't resist watching it. It looks pretty awesome!
What a great trailer!! Asgard looks amazing and just the tone of the film is very exciting. Alan Taylor is a really good director and Thor 2 is going to be fantastic.
So, yeah, that was an awesome trailer. Can't wait for this movie, though it's not out until November!
Have watched it several times and there is not one thing in that trailer that does not look awesome!! Really like the part where Thor is walking into some sort of hurrican force wind, probably trying to save Jane. I can definitely see Alan Taylor's influence on it, everything looks more regal somehow.
How do you mean by regal? I noticed that it has much darker, earthy color tones than what the first movie had. It's hard to tell with just a little footage, but it also looks like the action scenes have more weight to em. Not like the Frost Giant fight where they had Thor zipping around ultra fast, his movement in the brief clip looks to be slower but more powerful.
