Very nice guide fox , props for doing this.
Your list:
portforward.com shows these plus Port 1863 (UDP and TCP)
Any idea why? I'm hoping port forwarding will improve things I may just put the xbox on the DMZ and not bother with port forwarding.
1863 UDP/TCP is for video Kinect chatting. I'll add it in just to make the entire piece more thorough.
Thanks!
Just tried putting the xbox in the DMZ but I guess my 25d/5u FiOS connection just sucks I can never get more then 2 or 3 bars on a connection

This is soooo frustrating it seems to be getting worse. Anyone have any idea what I can do to improve the amount of lag and the 2 to 3 bar connection I'm getting with every match?
That's entirely dependent on what your setup is.
Feel free to email me for a more private chat or we can do this all in public.
What kind of modem do you have. What kind of router are you using. Are you connected via wires or wireless? What game are you trying to play?
Props on the guide! Will definitely refer my friends over to this.
Man, ive had a moderate for ever a year, ive tried EVERYTHING... and even this didnt work, ive just given up now, i dont have a clue what to do, i cant connect to certain friends and i just want to open it easily and be done with it but, i guess it hates me because nothing works. Help?

Needs to be stickied under Featured Content. Hopefully the mods will do so.

Would I see a difference if I bought a better modem then the one I got through Time Warner cable? I'm using the one they set me up with that looks pretty basic (cheap). I was thinking of buying like a 80-100 dollar motorola modem. I recently bought a new router and I'm just looking for other ways to improove my speed.
I run 3 360's (wifi) and one desk top computer that we only visit a few sites with and nothing else.
Any suggestions would be great...thanks
Having your own modem would mean a bit more flexibility, but then you'd run into issues when you need them to service your line.
Did they give you a speedstream? Those are fine IMO. I had one and it never let me down.
I'd suggest that you hardwire your 360s if possible and check out this thread:
