I just use "pump shotguns" to describe the three. I could use manual action, or "pump and lever action shotguns", but everyone already knows what we mean by "pump shotguns" so We just write that. Its shorter.
I don't think the model needs a better default spread because then steady aim could make it a little too potent at range. With a steady aim spread of 3.25 like the spas and ksg the 1887 would most likely one shot kill reliably at max range with the damage prof. That is why I favor just a very slight improvement over steady aim tightness with the 1887 while ads. You trade that modility for increased range performance. When you have to ads to get those long shots it takes more time to set up than just hipfiring even though hip firing is harder to do at range it can also be much faster. Making the 1887 perform its best at range while ads is a good way to slightly improve its long range performance for a skilled user but it makes it harder to get lucky.

No range is a good thing on the shotguns. Its the only thing that makes them really usefull in hard core. And more to the point its the only thing that gives the shotguns a competative usefullness with specialist bonus in core modes. Without range proficiancy on shotguns HC will suck really bad to play with shotguns and specialist will be a joke compared to any other gun in mw3 with specialist.

Yeah most people find the range on the pumps to be sufficiant. Good thing about these proposals is that the relaible one shot range is not increased on the spas and 1887 with these buffs and the ksg will only see a tiny increase of .65 meters.

With range the spas would then have a what 10.5 X 1.25 = 13.125 meters 3 pellet kill range & have a bigger chance to ohk beyond that too than it has now with range constantly, would be like having the specialist bonus now from the start without the damage increase beyond their max damage range. Range is bs on guns that should be cqb oriented weapons (where they should be more constant / better than they are now), most have fine range without range. People would complain like no tomorrow, as they already complain about the shotguns ohk range. Buff the damage cqb, but don't make range the go-to attachment. Unless they limit the damage buff cqb to half of their current max damage range, giving shotties 3 damage stats / drops. Range indeed is the only thing that makes shotguns an option in hc, so yeah removing it there would be unfair. Specialist would still give range to shotties. Ars get it too with the specialist bonus, they just can't pick it from the start.

You have not been reading. With my buffs the spas and 1887 will not see even an inch of increased relaible one shot kill range than they have right now. Only the ksg will see an increase in relaible one shot range and that increase is only .65 meters.
The spas would be like the mw2 non stopping power spas with less 3 pellet kill range when range is equipped.

Hey brick.
I've been using the shotguns a bunch, especially the Model and AA-12.
I definitely think the patches for these two are spot on. The AA-12 needs a very slight buff and I think the damage suggested is perfect. Adding range would be terrible. Give it a longer range and people spray it more than the striker. Starting ammo is absolutely necessary. To counter it for now, I overkill with an assault rifle; I put assassin as my first perk and then scavenger so I don't run out of AA-12 ammo.
Model definitely has to be the most fun shotgun to use. Even though I've gotten really good at bobbing and weaving and avoiding to get second and third shots off, I definitely hate how hard it can be to get close range kills with it.

I'm a competent shotgun user but I have not played MW3 yet, (by competent I mean just today I used a Spas-12 rushing through the outer areas on wasteland in FFA and won with a score of 30-14) and I plan on getting about 3k+ kills with all the shotguns in MW3. I'll come back with an opinion later. I plan on using the Model a tonne mainly because lever actions are just so badass. I'm looking forward to being a cowboy and toting around a .44 and a Model around the map ^_^

Cool, sounds good. If you want to use the 1887 I have a class suggestion that will help you level it easier and you might even want to keep this class after. Its actually called "Wild West"
Its 1887 with focus/range/damage (the only useful proficiencies, usefullnes increases from left to right)
44 magnum (akimbo when you unlock it)
c4
portable radar
slight of hand pro
assassin pro
steady aim pro
and either specialist with dead silence, sitrep pro, and hardline (in that order)
or support UAV, Ballistic vests.
If you get in the habbit of immediately switching to your 44 after firing your 1887 shot you can save yourself from a ton of those really bad hitmarkers. Happy hunting.

I had a good conversation with mark a little while ago. What he said in regards to network fixes sounded promising. I think they may have some good matchmaking updates coming out soon.
In regards to weapon balance. I told him what we would like. He didn't reject the ideas and he seemed to get where we are coming from. I will try to continue having some small one on one talks with mark to keep the hope alive. He said he would bookmark this thread and show it to some co workers which is great to hear.
Mark is actually a pretty cool guy and he seems to know what he is talking about. I have a little bit of faith restored in IW after talking to him.

Was that on twitter? I don't know how you can get a hold of him with all the people following him now. Good to know he didn't reject our ideas. Lets just hope he keeps them in mind when the weapon pass comes up.
