Well I hope I am wrong. It's just that at this point I've really lost all faith in them. I could be stamping me feet like so many other people and yelling refund. I know that's not going to get anywhere though. I step back and I look at what's been going on in the community, the relationship between the devs and community, and I think there has been a certain trust that's been lost. Both sides are to blame though. This is probably the most volatile gamer community I can think of. Then again it doesn't help when you have a dev posting in the forums basically telling people to "shut up" when they were criticizing the Face-Off announcement.
Another problem is all misrepresentation of the community. A lot of us want different things. There are some things that we universally agree on though. And we are definitely not stupid. They(IW) have this air of arrogance about them like they can tell us whatever they want and we'll just accept it. I think if you say "this is how it's going to be" sure there will be complaining but people will eventually accept it. I would rather be told that then have my intelligence insulted.
The problem comes in when you say "This is what the community wanted" or "This is what the community asked for" without actually asking the community in the first place. I think there would have been a lot less backlash if they didn't even do that video in the first place.
The second time it happened was that wish list that popped up on Facebook. I'm not going to knock the list, there are some very needed changes on it. However right at the top, it says "As per requested by the community" Well where? It certainly wasn't on here. It wasn't on Facebook or Twitter. Where did that wish list come from? When pressured about it Rubin admitted that it was a list of things they were hoping to work on soon being passed around by IW devs. Ok, cool. If that is the case then, why not say that? Why try to be fake about it? My point is, if there is community input then have community input. If there isn't going to be, then don't go and make it like there is.
Sorry to go way off on a tangent but basically, I don't believe anything they say. They haven't given me any reason to. That's why when Rubin says they're all done with Face-off....it kind of makes me think he's just trying to spin pr again.
