An interesting idea; certainly better than the usual "nerf the AK74" posts.

But I think the problem lies in the fact that most of the rest of the SMGs are just so weak when up against the assault rifles, and I believe that buffing them is the answer.

If the Uzi was 35-20, then there is a danger that everyone would start using it, and it would become the next overpowered object of hate. We need something a bit more subtle than that.

I suggest introducing a chest damage multiplier of 1.2 for the 30-20 damage SMGs, making them a 3 bullet kill if you hit the chest twice.

The machine pistols need to have a small clip (20) otherwise they would be just too good close up (I have fun with dual MAC11s). They should have improved ADS time to make them a bit more attractive if used singly. As it is, why bother?

I don't think that they are particularly overpowered. Just over-rated. The buffed 30-20 SMGs could stand up to them with rapid fire, so the problem is partly solved.

The only nerf that I would suggest is to reduce the high recentre speed of the Famas (1600) to the same as the other full auto ARs (1500). This would be a simple change to make, and, whilst it would not have any impact on close range dropping power, would certainly make the gun harder to use at medium and long range.

You may be surprised by my belief that they are not particularly overpowered, but they really are not as good as the Galil, AK47 and Commando at long range. The higher damage and slower rate of fire of these guns is an advantage when longshotting [edit] and when shooting through cover.[/edit]

Am I the only person who thinks that the balance is fine?  I haven't even used the 74u this prestige (6th level 44) and I don't plan on it because i prefer the spectre and the mpl.  I also use the famas, ak47, L96A1, and m60.
