No Cod XP this year, how will they reveal MP?

Posted by nicedrewishfela on Jun 7, 2012 10:23 AM

Per Dan Amrich "OneofSwords", there will be no CoD XP this year.

Which leaves me wondering how they will be revealing BlOps II MultiPlayer. Anyone have any ideas?

    They don't have to.

MW3 was the first time they had a true full MP reveal.

They can simply revert back to just showing the occasional MP trailer.

Of course it's likely they might reveal more about MP at PAX Prime. That's generally the time they start to reveal minor details about MP anyway though.

I agree. I thought they would annualize CoD XP, to be honest. It was thoroughly successful last year. Perhaps it's a matter of Treyarch wanting to do as much as they can with the time they have left before officially revealing anything too grand. Perhaps, like you said, it's a financial thing. I suspect that they won't stop it all together though.

My prediction is; depending on how far IW/SH are willing to go next year, if they take as many or less risks than Treyarch, then we'll see another XP.

I imagine they think that BOII will be drastically different, and they want that to be evident in the reactions all at once instead of letting people see everything early and diluting the anticipation and excitement. And possibly losing sales because of the jaded and cynical that don't buy it because they think it's not enough change.

Though I suppose you can't please everyone. :]

I was planning on going if it had been held.

True, this community will never be 100% satisfied. It makes sense, what you said. It was almost like CoD Xp was held to cover up the fact they had produced a basically unfinished game. Its the old sleight of hand: distract someone with the shiny object whilst you steal their wallet.

Who the hell are you? Its driving me crazy-you SOUND like a couple people I know-and your post count makes me think this is a replacement account.

Like others said; i am sad that they aren't doing it this year, was genuinely wanting to go, but they can simply do the same as what they did for Blops; a smallish venue for invited bigshots to go see MP in action.

The only problem I had with that way of doing the reveal was the crappy videos we got out of it; like one giant tease lol. It may actually happen soon, since mark Lamia has been teasing revealing MP and zombies all through E3, not to mention the teasers within the E3 trailers (the zombie laugh and the hidden MP clips)

As they have before in trailers. I think CoDXp was more of a benefit for the charity that gained from it. Well, MW3  need all the charity it could get too.

      First-Koeswick-Freaking brilliant response!

I was at XP. I found it: poorly planned, over-priced and over-sold. But that is merely me venting, based on 17 years in the hospitality business, including major event/banquet planning. So what do I know?

As for the Reveal-a source I have(who shall remain nameless) has told me they are planning to strap little MP3/video players with MP game play vids to hundreds of turkeys and air drop them over 50 major cities.

Well that is killing to birds with one stone. Free Thanksgiving Dinner on top of MP reveals. Wait... Are the turkeys plucked?

          "Les, what were you thinking?"

"Andy, I swear to God I never knew turkeys couldn't fly!"

Andy:" Maybe we should have done a Beta. Tried with Cornish Hens. They could use catchers mitts to receive packages."

Les: " There's no time, we must make shipment, fly low..."

If I lived in the US, I would be attending COD XP but a bit disappointed that they aren't having this event this year especially for a Treyarch COD title.

There might be other events like last year. Remember fourzerotwo's whirlwind trip around the world to promote the game.

Dude-you didn't wait in the lines, or you wouldn't be so enthused.

My feet still hurt. Everything had a Long line-it made Disneyland look easy.

I even stood for 20 minutes to get lunch...

Just thought I would let this out, I wasn't tottaly sold on cod xp. I thought it revealed way to much and took away the sort of suprise we get when we play cod the first week or two.
