Drop Shotting and Bunny Hopping Should this be nerfed? thoughts and ideas

Posted by xtootallx on May 19, 2012 11:30 PM

Hi guys, Just wanted to start this thread to see what your thoughts were on the subject.

Based on the game trying to be realistic. I think drop shotting should be nerfed. I think as your running/sprinting/jumping the droping to prone should be disabled. Far as jumping and shooting I think the accuracy needs to be adjusted. These are all tactics you wouldn't even think of trying in a RL secenario imo. So let's have a civil discussion, thoughts? ideas? fixes? or leave it be? Please explain your reasons.

If it is to stay it should be like battlefield 3 were if you drop you go hipfire, i personally would not mind seeing the end of it along with quick scoping.

hmmm, you raise a good point and i can tell you this will get heated, but heres my opinion: when going to prone, shooting shuld be disabled. as for bunnyhopping, it aint a problem for consoles, just pc, so maybe they could fix it just for pc

I would love to see this being nerfed. Both jumping and dropping to prone should have a massive delay to shooting and/or reduce accuracy / increase spread beyond what we have right now.

Rush players (lightweight + steady aim + grip for example) are already a pain if they're just running around, they shouldn't gain another advantage by going "up or down" additionally.

It's not a core problem theoretically but the network lag / lag compensation and/or bad and unsteady connections give these players huge advantages that shouldn't be there.

    It also looks stupid.

Anyone who agrees to these is basically saying that Call of Duty should become even more boring than it is, it is not realistic, it is a game, you get shot to the chest and you can carry on, heal, your vision turns into a bloody nightmare?

Give me good old fashion health bar and instead of some freaking bloody screen, why can't your vision turn more like black and white and maybe tiny bit blurry.

Quickdraw Quickscoping and Dropshotting just need to go.

This is how it should be:

Shooting while hopping = lose accuracy

Shooting while dropshotting = lose accuracy but regain it when totally on the ground for a second

Can't have shooting disabled while in full prone, but I do get what the Mr_Happy102 was trying to say. I've been saying those things for the last two games. Players can still shoot, but it won't be as much of an exploit as it is right now. No one has to use the environment or the map much because all you have to do is hop first or shoot and hop second.

I think BO did it pretty well with the dive mechanic.  You could still shoot, but it wasn't very accurate at all.  The only thing I hated (but also happened to like I admit) was the fact that you could turn while diving.  Silly but it was fun.

There definitely needs to be no ability to shoot (at least while ADS) when dropping to the ground or getting back to your feet.  Going prone is a great tactic for snipers, and other gun users who are hiding, but you shouldn't be able to do it mid-fire fight and come out on top.  That's ridiculous.  If you are going to drop to get a visibility advantage, you should pay a penalty for it and be forced to pre-emptively set that kind of shot up by first getting into position before you can fire.

In summary I'd like to see a delay during the going to prone/getting back up like BF3.  Just like you can't shoot while climbing into a window or while on ladder now.

Regarding bunny hopping, I don't really see issue with it as you don't get an advantage doing it.  You just look silly and make for great skeet targets.
