I did some research and came across a pair of TB that you can preset an equalizer to fit your playstyle. Supposedly you can adjust the settings so you can hear specific sounds like footsteps and other character motions above other sounds in the game like explosions and gunfire.
I guess this is suppose to be a major advantage and changes everything in the game allowing even the smallest enemy noises to be amplified and allow to hear so well it's like seeing the enemy
I've yet to find this preset and all I hear is everything incredibly loud. I've since turned everything down and honestly it doesn't sound much different then my TV. Does anyone have a preset that works well they'd be willing to share, because if not I'm going to return them
Which turtle beaches do you have? Are they 5.1? If not I would highly recommend the DSS module thing because that will give you a 100 times more of an advantage than any EQ settings.
PX5's I believe. I'm not at home so I can't tell you for sure. I know they were like $160ish
Put them on paper that is near an open window,
All that would do is pissoff everyone in the lobby
What I meant was that TB sets are better used as paper weights. PX3's most likely. The PX5 are over 200
Turttle Beach sucks man. Get these

you will be hearing hrz low as .00000001 it shakes your body. you migh c*m.
Tell you what, you buy them for me and I'll be happy to try them out. But to be honest, no game is worth spend $1,500 on
you think all you would do with those headphones is play games? hahahahahahahahahahhaa
were they not a gaming headset? The first thing I saw was the price and I immediately left the page. I would imagine anything would sound amazing with them but I would be afraid to touch something like that
those head phones better make me breakfast take my trash out and pay my rent for me at that price
no freaking kidding. I've got actual tower speakers and full surround sound for cheaper than that. Polk Audio RTI-A9s, matching back speakers and center, Pioneer Elite VSX-1021 receiver, and two powerful 10" subs from Polk as well... No one "sneaks up" on me unless they have Dead Silence. Everything sounds absolutely beautiful. Up until I get Audio EMP'd by the shitty programming. To bad this game isn't in Dolby Digital like Battlefield 3.
Holy sweet **** I would love to have those.
No mic.
Yeah and what part of those say gaming headset, they are not designed for gaming, they lack a mic, they are designed for listening to music not for gaming. Turtle beach headsets are designed for gaming as their primary function.
One would have to be a retard to spend that ammount on headsets that are not designed for gaming.

Oh and to the OP there is a little thing called RTFM (read the $%&*@$ manual), why do you think it comes with one?
I have the TB PX5's, they come with 8 presets built in- I use preset 2, it has a little more bass than the standard settings- It will all come down to personal preferance and what you get used to. Alternatively, you can plug the headsets into your PC via USB, download the program off the TB websight and create your own preset. This method is time consuming and involves a lot of 'trial and error' testing till you find what you like best. Honestly, I would say give them a week before taking them back and try using all the built in presets. Another thing that you have to remember : Soundwhoring on MW3 is not nearly as effective as what is was on previous CoD's, maybe try putting in MW2 or BO and try the different presets on those games too.
Another thing that is worth mentioning, turn the in-game volume to 'low' and make sure it is set to 'headset'. In the XMB under sound settings, make sure the Dolby 5.1 option is ticked-most people leave this unchecked rendering the surround sound useless.
i use px21 and i have had them since mw2 they were very good at soundwhoring in mw2 with sitrep on they were ok in b-ops not as good as mw2 but in mw3 its a little harder u can soundwhore but no were as good as other cods like #sworndeath says i would just try them out in other cods first get a feel for the sound set up u like best and ppl who say there crap no good what ever they are right if they can buy top end ones but for the price u pay for them they are very good
I believe a new set of turtle beaches are coming out at the end of the month, maybe worth looking into them instead if the ones you got are crappy.
Most of the guys I play with use or have used turtle beaches. 90% of them of had problems with them and either regret buying them again and again or simply moved to another brand.
I just got a set of Astro a40s in the last 3 weeks. Yes they are more pricey than turtles but are excellent. I used 5.1 gome cinema surround sound before and the headset is beast in comparison. Thoroughly recommend them.
I seriously want those headsets, but the price tag scares me!
I have also heard that most people regret buying TB's, mostly because of build quality. I have had my PX5's for a year now and can safely say that they are much better quality than the cheaper TB's. I have not had a single problem yet, then again, I treat my equipment with respect as I payed my own $300 (yes it is that expensive in Australia) for the headsets. I have heard good things about the Astro's too but never tried them myself.
Funny. I see tons of threads ridiculing those 'getting ahead' of the competition in this game by glitching and whatnot, and, inevitably, it is always unanimously against the OP.
Now I see a thread of everyone wanting headphones, for the same end-game profit. To be the better player by means outside the regular gameplay. Once again, this is a unanimous response, but a positive one.
I see no difference, and this includes modded controllers. You are all hypocrites in my book. Enjoy your new self-found hatred, and I dare you to make a come-back that won't start a 'flame war'. I'm quite sure the replies will be... well thought out. I should only hope so.
Lol, so having a headset is equivalent to 'glitching' and using modded controllers? I give up on the CoD community and humanity in general.
Perks like Dead Silence and Sitrep are in the game for a reason and are only fully effective when using headsets. Go complain to the developers for adding perks that make use of sound related elements ![]()
Type the make into u-tube there's usually some handy set ups for every headset on there...![]()
Alright, but where did I complain? I use TB PX21's. I just see no difference to these than Modded controllers. It's an unfair advantage to those players without them, just like a modded controller, because it's a physical game accessory that you have purchased, correct?
You should understand that, it's pretty laid out, sworndeath.
You try and make it sound as if the subject at hand is either 'black' or 'white' and there is no room for grey area. It is not that simple, people do not just buy gaming headsets to hear footsteps- there are other perks and accessories such as a quality blue tooth mic, surround sound etc. People buy modded controllers to get a faster ROF out of a gun the developer did not design for that purpose and hence get quicker kills. Having a headset is like upgrading the sound in your car, just cause the quality is now more clear and the bass better, does not mean the song that you play changes. If you understand this analogy, you might better understand what argument Im trying to make here.
Did I ever say that wasn't the case? An advantage is inclusive. I know I own my TB's only for that advantage.
headsets are a must have for ppl who whant to have the advantage of sitrep / deadsilence if u play the likes of snd and u are last alive a headset can give u that edge to were u hear the footsteps and can set up your attack
Sound whoring doesn't make your gun fire faster. It's far from the same as a modded controller. Is it not fair that I play on a 21" computer monitor while other's play on a 51" LED smart tv? No, what's the difference between my TB and someone's $2000 surround sound set up they have in their home?
There is non. It's sound for Christ sake, sound doesn't give you kills it only enhances your senses. What gets you kills is a controller that can fire bullets out of a sniper so fast you can't tell the difference between the first shot fired and the last shot fired. That's "glitching"
Those 'enhanced senses' do give you kills. I have no clue how many times I've heard someone that can't hear me that has, without a doubt, saved my life in this game and given me the upper hand.
You have not made a valid difference to my original point. I have said nothing more than the player has a much higher advantage due to a physical purchase, no?
Come back when you have something a little more... valid.
that was valid, you're just trying to argue for the sake of arguing
I took back my TB5's though I got a few kills by sound whoring, I didnt see a noticable change in game play, and infact I felt like they hindered me having some heavy phones on my head, I feel I do better without a headset
I would hardly call using a proper sound system cheating. I honestly can't believe anybody would be stupid enough to compare it to using a modded controller. It's not our fault you are too cheap to use a proper setup.
I got the PX5 as well and I'm pretty happy about it. Anyway, I'll explain what I did to find the presets that suited me best:
1. Go to the TB website, login and download all the presets that seem interesting to your playstyle.
2. Find a recent match in theather mode where you are in a spot with an enemy around, of which you want to hear the footsteps of (lockdown always works well because of the wood they walk on). If possible, try to find a sequence which you can repeat over and over by pressing the back button.
3. Connect your headset to your pc (while still connected to PS3). Load various presets into your headset while you listen to the sequence mentioned just above.
Try out the different presets to find the ones that suit you best. Write the ones down that give you the best results and start messing with those. Important note: pay attention to the effect the preset has, does it just increase the total volume or does it enhance the footstep noises.
I'll give you my favorites (from TB site) as listed in my PX5 Advanced Sound Editor:
Master: [PS3]Superhuman Hearing
Mic: any
Chat: any
Game: [DH]MW3_SuperSoldier
Master: [PS3] MP Footstep Focus
Mic: any
Chat: any
Game: [DH]MP Footstep Focus
It (of course) comes down to preference, if you're not happy with the results you should return them. I do have to tell you, in MW3 the footstep sounds aren't very easy to hear. If you pop in Black Ops or MW2, it's a world of difference and you can hear literally everything and everyone.
I have the PX5 for my PS3 downstairs and PX21s for his PS3.. Look at the post by MadConvictor. Turtle Beach has a PX5 variant called Delta that is specifically for MW3. People have posted the Delta presets online. Overall, I like the Delta (MW3) presets, but I did not like the chat increments. When I adjusted my chat volume by one click on the headset, it bumped up or down the volume too much. I believe the defaults on the presets are 6dB increments, so I changed them to 3dB increments. This worked great for me.
I agree that the sound quality of MW3 is not as good as Black Ops. My son has the PX21s, so I tried them both using Blacks Ops. The PX21s are good headsets, but the PX5s are definitely better. Are they worth the price? They are to me because I hate the cord on the PX21.
The battery life on the PX5 is not that great, so I am using rechargeable batteries. I just swap them out.
I use a 15 bucks headset, works fine, especially after fine-tuning my tv. I only play with it at night though or when going uber try-hard
