server connection timeout problem

This has been happening alot more often lately and i dont know why. It seems to be about once every 3 games i get kicked from the game with server connection time out. I have an open nat type (that is hard wired) and when i test my internet connection with my computer my ping is at 30, upload at 10, and download is 3. i have never had this problem before and i have played other games with no server connection time out. Is there anything i can to do help or do they need a new patch? Everyone i play with doesn't have this problem even with moderate nat type????
In most cases, this is caused by port restrictions within your router. These port restrictions do not allow the data required by the game to be received/sent correctly.
What console are you playing on? Once you let us know which console you play on, we'll be able to provide you with a guide that will show you how to open up the required ports.
this same thing has been happening to me for the past 2 days, i play on xbox and i havent been able to connect to any servers, it just says "awaiting challenge ..1.. then 2 and then all the way up to 11 then takes me back to the main menu saying server connection timed out. and my NAT type is open. p.s i have a bigpond8276 modem.

Hello DodgieFps,
I am sorry to hear you are having this problem. Unfortunately, when I search for BigPond Modems, the only ones that come up are Telstra. However the model number you provided (8276) is not a model number for a Telstra. Can you please tell me the make/model number of your modem so I can see if there is any additional information we can give you to get this solved?
Im on the ps3 with a ubeeDVW3200 modem
Hello theotherperry04,
The Ubee DVW3200, is actually a router/modem so it may be possible that while the NAT is open, then ports could still be blocked.
I recommend that you go to http://canyouseeme.org (from the Playstation 3 Internet Browser)
In the empty box, type in 80 and select Check
Repeat this process for 443, 3074, 3478, 3479, 3658, and 5223.
If those come back as either closed or timed out, then you will need to do some networking troubleshooting.
If the ports are closed/timed-out, first you will want to assign a static IP to your Playstation 3 (steps can be found here, http://portforward.com/networking/staticip-ps3-playstation-3.htm.
Once you assign a static IP to the console, then you will just need to forward the ports for that IP using this link, http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Ubee/DVW3102B/PS3_Call_of _Duty_-_Modern_Warfare_3.htm
Those steps are not specifically for the DVW3200, but the DVW3102B should be similar enough in the menu to show you what to select and type in.
So when i tried the canyouseeme.org website i timed out, so i did what you said just the only difference when i access my router and was on the forwarding page i have internal and external slots for the start and end ports (also a public interface ip). In the instructions it doesnt say witch ones i should put it in (this could be beacuse the router model is different)?

Hi again theotherperry04,
It could be due to a difference in router model. Unfortunately I cannot troubleshoot that far since I'm not that well versed in every router model. Have you tried the steps in the link below?
Thanks for you help i went here http://www.networking-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=31054 to ask somebody whoe knows more about it and found the answer thanks.
