Leveling up equipment and killstreaks for unlocks/attachments

Posted by iloveshotguns on May 6, 2012 4:18 PM

I think we should be able to level up (or unlock "attachments" if they decide to get rid of weapons level up system) equpiment and killstreaks.

Here are some ideas

Killstreaks:

Extra Fuel - makes air support last longer

Additional Flair - gives air support additional flairs

Heavy Plating - gives weak air support (like uavs and quad roter) more resistance to bullets

Thermal - gives user controlled air support a thermal sight

Boosters - makes air strikes/care packages come in faster

Stealth Armor - makes air support hidden from the minimap

Equipment:

Twitch Timer - makes claymores/bouncing bettys go off faster

Touch Activation - makes frags go off instantly if it touches an enemy

Blast Powder - increases the blast radius of hand grenades

Sensor Upgrade - increases the frequency of sensor waves

Shockwave - EMP grenades also stuns and blinds target

Explosive Powder - Damage from stuns and flash grenades is increased

This is all asuming of course if some of these will actually be in the game. Dunno, let me know your ideas

Making killstreaks more lethal is like putting a rocket launcher on a minigun, it's already ridiculous, why buff what's already overpowered? You're talking the fighting away from the soldier and putting it on the killstreak, and COD is gun on gun. If a killstreak can be in the air longer and harder to shoot down, then you'll have one team in a building taking cover while the other sits on computers shooting at them from helicopters and gunships.

The equipment is interesting, though. But I don't like Touch Activation because they put the grenade cooking mechanic in the game so that experienced fraggers can use that to their advantage. Blast Powder can easily be overpowered as well. Other than that, I'd say the equipment progression is interesting. But killstreaks, leave them be.

Really? Killstreaks are OP? What the ****. Have you not been playing MW3 because I don't think I've had a full pavelow or AC in the last 2 weeks or so - within 15 seconds Im down, its most likely because the guy going 1-42 took it down - yet Killstreaks are OP.

Black Ops and Modern Warfare are TWO DIFFERENT GAMES, made by TWO DIFFERENT DEVELOPERS. I don't care how weak they are in MW3, in Black Ops 1 they can dominate.

hmmm, interesting ideas but i agree with Arkitek. killstreaks are fine, equiptment is an amusing idea, however it'd prob be overworking it. lets just try keep it simple

COD is far from gun on gun atleast in mw2 and 3. Blackops and COD4 were good at focusing on gun on gun battles. Tho blackops had powerful killstreaks, you had to earn them and even then they weren't what i consider overpowered since you could easly destroy any airsupport besides the blackbird before it even get's a chance to fire.

I thought about killstreak unlocks the other day but all i can see is it just leading to balance problems.

Making air support have more flares is the most dumbest idea ever. Let's see how many kills you can get with a chopper gunner with 2 flairs, most rocket launchers don't even have 3 bullets to start out with. I would not want extra ammo in rocket launchers as well as stronger air support, it's strong enough as is.

Pretty much. Killstreaks just shouldn't be game changing. They are a added bonus for doing well. I hardly ever use the chopper gunner in blackops. It's nice when no one wants to switch classes and shoot it down but if anyone on the team is wanting to win at all, they just shoot it down in 2 shots before the door is opened, which is balanced.

I hated that it took 3 shots to take down an osprey, i started carrying around C4 just to suicide to get the last shot in.

Haha same, I use UAV, Blackbird, and Dogs, the 3 main killstreaks that not only help your team but help you get kills and stuff. I personally think the variety of killstreaks in MW3 and Black Ops is perfect, they are pretty balanced, and the thing I liked about Osprey is that it did take a lot to shoot down but was only rewarded at a 16-17 killstreak, that's almost a MOAB. I try to use things from MW3 but there's not many things balanced in that game, Black Ops was the most balanced Call of Duty today, which explains why it's super popular.

I sure hope that leveling up gun system will not return.

Also proficiencies are stupid as hell. Its enough to have 3 perks but then adding a 4th gun perks, its all just taking away simplicity and skill based gun fighting.
