Is this a true rumour?

Ive been hearing a rumour that Infinity Ward sold the Call of Duty Frachise to Treyarch.... Is this True or False?

    The franchise isn't IW's to sell it is owned by Activision

    lol. I wish, I really do. but only if that did happen and the reason was this: Teyarch are doing such a better job with BO2 than what IW done their MW2.5 so activision sack IW cause IW bearly improve the game at all.   yeah, just a great thought.

    Where do you hear these rumours? And if you knew your basic COD info you'd know straight away that it's BS.

     

    Seriously, people need to understand the difference between:

     

    Activision - The Owners of the COD Franchise, its publishers.

     

    Infinity Ward - The Makers of COD1, 2, 4, MW2, MW3.

     

    Treyarch - The Makers of COD 3, WaW, BO, BO2.

     

    Sledgehammer - Recently acquired to help IW because of studio departures.

     

    Raven Software - Help with All games DLC.

     

    IW do not own MW, hence the lawsuit, 3Arc do not own BO, hope this helps and tell your friends.

    Why would you call MW3, MW2.5?

     

    When BO2 is MW2.7?

      Because MW3 is essentially MW2, just updated, they should've just said that its MW2.5, Black Ops is amazing, different from W@W (which is also good), BLOPS 2 is in the future, a different game, will also be amazing

    did everyone expect the new IW to make a great game. BO2 better be great the same 3arc team has been makeing cod games since Cod3 and big red one.

    IW just made the same game. MW2 > MW3. Same game, but I like MW2 a whole lot better. Not as many kids as there are today.

     

     

    3arc Made 3 extreamely great games. 3, WAW, BO. I hope BOII does good because it didn't look as fascinating as the other ones did. Looks like a combo of Battlefield, Halo, and Call of Duty. Hope it does good and corrects IW mistakes.

    Ok, Jason West and Vince Zampella worked for a company named 2015 inc. They were part of the team that created Medal of Honor: Allied assault. Then Jason and Vince left 2015 inc. and formed Infinity Ward. Activision funded Infinity Ward and therefore owned the company. Infinity Ward created the Call of Duty franchise, now fast forward to MW2 and the founders of Infinity Ward (Jason and Vince) had some issues with Activision and a law suit followed. Jason West and Vince Zampella left the company they had created and started a new company called Respawn Entertainment. Since Activision funded Infinity Ward they still own it. For example EA funded there new company Repawn Entertainment, so even though it's run by Jason and Vince it's actually owned by EA. 

     

        ...hope this clears some stuff up for people. Here's a link to Jason and Vince's new company's site. They're currently making another FPS.
