Oh god.  I want to see where this question leads now.

So how do you define skill? Are all players of equal skill?

You cannot use the word skill in sentence related to MW3 multiplayer. If i am ~seconds behind enemy, wheres the skill in that? Just fix "Lag Comp", no excuses needed after.

Do you think your skill does not factor into the game then roachoutro? By what measure do you define skill?

    Cheers,

If i cant win a single "head-to-head" situation, then no, its not about skill. When i see enemy, i am already dead. No skill needed.

But of course skill is needed reading the map, enemy positions etc. I am fairly good at this game. But even when i get positive K/D in match, i am not satisfied, because knowing i have to shoot entire clip to kill someone, and my streaks cut when i lose them "head-to-heads" because i am dead before i get to react.

    Hope that makes some sense.

Assume two players in a no-lag environment, are using identical set-ups. Even then, that's not a great indicator because people can get lucky.

To me, you simply cannot equate skill with Call of Duty. There's too much that randomly influences how people win. For instance (not trying to draw you into the discussion), I can take a shotgun (Let's say the Spas-12) and fire point blank at someone. Sometimes I'll get a kill, sometimes I'll get a hit marker, and other times I'll get nothing and see the killcam showed me not firing at all.

If we can take lag and bad spawns out of the equation, then I would put forth that you can define skill as two players using identical set-ups, and the one who can most consistently pull a win in a decisive fashion (IE not 20-19 or 20-18, but like 20-13) could be considered the more skilled. But that's purely in relation to killing.

If you factor in Objective game modes, then there's other things to consider.

Thanks for the tip Kastro. Still though kinda reluctant to do this, will it make so that my enemy dont have any reaction time, or no bloody screens?

Tried playing with my buddies past weekend, first match we ragequitted, second one ragequitted and didnt play third one. Unplayable.

GHANDI, please, give us an ETA on both; matchmaking and "Lag Comp".

    Thank You.

If it interferes with their data, I wouldn't deliberately mess with your connection. I simply was playing to kill time until the download finished. That said, it does seem to be a reliable method for actually playing without much issue. To me, in the encounters I played, me and the enemy player seemed fairly even in terms of reaction time. I could get hit markers on him, he got them on me. It was simply a matter of who was better (at least from my perspective).

The match I played was the very first one that came up, which the game said was a <50ms Ping match.

Here is something I have noticed: G IH A IN ID II

    Attempt 1:

    Testing matches 98% - 0/50 good games

    Finding games <50ms ping

    Attempt 2:

    Testing matches 98% - 0/26 good games

    Finding games <75ms ping

    Attempt 3:

    Testing matches 98% - 0/26 good games

    Finding games <100ms ping

    Attempt 4:

    Testing matches 98% - 2/20 good games

    Finding games <125ms ping

    Attempt 5:

    Testing matches 98% - 5/15 good games

    Finding games <150ms ping

My NAT Type is Open, but a lot of the times I can not get into any games under Attempt 4 or 5 because they are full or whatever reason.

    Attempt 6:

    Testing matches 98% - 12/31 good games

Searching for available games(Notice no ping comparison).

During attempt 6 I get in, but when I play in matches that attempt 6 gives me I am at a huge disadvantage. I will get killed first even if I aim first and it's very unstable. I am guessing it's because it just threw me into a random game available due to failing to get into any matches during or below attempt 5. This is where my reasoning of why changing the intervals to 25ms from MW2's 10ms was a bad idea. I only get 2 attempts to get into a match under my ping, where as in MW2 I had 4 attempts, and almost always 90% I get into them before being randomly put into matches where people have a much faster ping then me in MW2. So in MW3 I am at a huge disadvantage. That interval change alone is screwing with the sync of ping between players and the host. You said you were looking at MW2 netcode and this is one of the things you touched that was not broken. I understand not putting a player in a 50ms lobby if he has 120ms ping, but reducing the intervals and attempts at which we can be put in a game with a ping between players similar to ours is what is screwing with things. In MW3 I have to constantly redo the search just to get into a <150ms ping match. Most players don't even watch the ping count attempt so they don't even know they are getting put into random lobbies on attempt 6 or above because they don't know any better. I must say the netcode dev of MW2 was pretty smart to realize this. The fact that you changed it makes no sense. You speed up the match finding process, only to make us end up searching more anyway, and you make lag worse. Just go back to MW2 please, that was done right. Don't mess with with what's not broken. Thank You!

Just a simple change as well, should not take more than a month to go back to the 10ms intervals. Please send this to the MP team, or explain why the intervals are not an issue, if my reasoning is right, then you know what must be done.

Ok I have a question about Shotguns but it doesn't have to do with them being unbalanced or overpowered yada yada. For the past month or so (roughly) I have noticed that when I come up against a shotgun user and they begin firing the screen freezes they blast I'm dead. Something is definitely wrong, these are on games where my ping is low and connection to host is well... now I know it's not lag compensation cause I can tell a difference. It seems like a frame issue or something? Don't know, just wondering what's up because it's instant death no matter what.

Also, you guys remember those screen freezes. Yeah, when that happens you can hear that the BR drive is quite meaning the disc isn't spinning correctly. And I still get that screeching sound for 30 seconds coming out of my TV randomly. People blame lag comp for people having advantages, but my previous post shows you how that can happen when matchmaking is setup not optimally.
