Disappointed in it being futuristic??  Your thoughts.

Posted by Ben on May 2, 2012 5:08 PM

I just hope that they don't make it too futuristic. I'm ok with changing all air support, vehicles, grendades, equipment, etc.  But if they give plasma bullets or something for the guns that change that way too much, I will not buy this game because that's what I love.  The realistic wepons,

They definitly WILL NOT have plasma bullets or any of that crap. I know that for a fact. They won't stray to far from the series.

Skeptical. But I have high hopes considering this was done by Treyarch. If this was Infinity Ward I wouldn't even waste money and checking if it's a good game.

About a year ago I actually thought that it would be cool if Call of Duty went futuristic. This will allow Treyarch to not only work with real historical events but with thier imaginations. Going futuristic also gives more map variety because the first third takes place in the eighties.b

only the single player has places from the 80s. They confirmed that all of the Multiplayer takes place in 2025.

I get that they won't have plasma bullets and crap like that, but I just hope they won't make up guns. I want to stick with normal, modern day guns. Such as the SCAR, M416, AR15, ect. I will not buy the game if it has fake "future" guns in it. P.S. When there is a Nazi Zombies trailer (If there's a Nazi Zombies trailer) someone please inform me about it. I saw the mystery box light but it's not enough evidence for me.

What's wrong with a futuristic CoD? From the look of the trailer it's not far off by what we have now. Most likely there will be something to replace bullets in the future. I just don't see the problem. I thought it looked awesome.

I hope they don't go much farther than 13yrs into the future. Anymore and I think it will start turning into Halo

This is only 13 years in the future. We allready have this tech. It is just a matter of time that we use this stuff. We do already use some of this stuff anyway.

I'm fine with the whole futuristic approach they're taking, as long as it doesn't go all stupid where aliens start joining our battlefields and keep to the "realistic" feel which I think why most of us got into COD in the first place, I think they the whole "futuristic" thing is mainly to do with weaponry anyways which I'm cool with

Like atto99 said. We already have most of this stuff. It's not going to be that futuristic. And
I'm sure they are not going to put plasma bullets or anything like that into the game. This game looks cool...but I was hoping for another WWII game.

Treyarch just wants to keep things fresh. New guns, Locations, New Toys.

I am just afraid of how they will make the weapons.I don't want some stypid totally unreal(and i say totally for a reason)and i also i don't want them to copy anthing from BF.BF is very good(not BF3)bu ti don't want Trearch copying from other games, like DICE did with BF3.

I like the futuristic idea, especially since it is near future.  What worries me is what kind of impact will the future tech have on the multiplayer gameplay; namely the walking tank things and mobile turrets?  Is it going to turn COD into Halo?  Player-held weapons will need to at least be capable of taking these out which may mean an increase on small arms fire power.  I'm betting to combat the future killstreaks, either the weapons will be over-powered or the player perks will have to be to compensate.

I personally liked the look.  I think we all knew this is where it would end up, right?  Hopefully the guns will be true and real, I don't expect lasers only 13 years into the future.  One can only dream that in my lifetime I would see that, and I find it highly doubtful.

Either some of you have never played Halo or in your mind the slightest increase in technology means it's Halo. Seriously, are you that bad at comparing stuff?

When I first saw the trailer and saw 2025 futuristic stuff, I was annoyed and said "there's no way I'm buying this. How stupid." However, thinking about it, it might not be that bad. After all, Killzone 3 was a fun game. I have a lot of faith in Treyarch - they're very innovative. They make more unique Call of Duty games, unlike the other producers. If they don't butcher the game with too much futuristic BS then they should be fine.

I don't mind the futuristic setting. Kinda reminds me of Deus Ex, a game I enjoyed.

Its taking cod out of its fan base zone. we all started playing either in ww2 or for interest u of simulating a realistic modern feel with friends online. going futuristic is a mistake. and on top of it treyarch is the worst one to send out on a trial like this. They have always been sub par with character models color paletes used in maps and textures on cloths and skin. compared to iw these guys need alot of visual improvement. so to throw the b rate filler company into a whole new idea was just not what id have done. We already know how this will turn out too. the mw3 reveal trailer had less than 20,000 dislikes over a years time and bops 2 in first week has hit 32,000 dislikes. I used to be excited about having 2 companies and getting a new game and maps every year but treyarch just isnt meeting the grphical standards of iw and iw's way of producing interesting map locations like terminal and trailerpark. before looking to the future they need to9 get better at what they started. so i say no future is not a wise choice for a cod title.

Biggest disappointment in Call of Duty history. I never thought that it would come to this but it has. They have completely demolished the structure that Call of Duty was founded on: great realistic present, or historical gameplay. I hope the complany goes bankrupt and everyone working here has to live in cardboard boxes.

P.S. If we wanted to play Star Wars we would buy the Star Wars Game

I'm happy that it's in the future. We've played in modern times for 3 games, Cold War once, and the rest WW games.

I am excited for this change in pace
