Quickscoping making a return in BO2?

Posted by iFCW on May 2, 2012 4:09 PM

Now let me start off by saying that i've been quickscoping since COD4... and because I always try to challenge my self I was always that person that never used the Handicaps that were implemented in the later CODs, ex: in MW2 I was a Marathon sniper, in Black Ops i actually turned off my Target assist aka"Aim Assist", and in MW3 I have yet to use quickdraw on my sniper.

Now rumor has it that BO2 will disable Aim Assist on all snipers which honestly i have no problem with because its not that much of a help when it actually comes to the act of quickscoping, so Im up for the challenge.

Is any one else up for the supposedly no aim assist for snipers in BO2?

EDIT: I honestly want it to have no Aim Assist because I would love to hear the excuses/complaints people come up with for diying by a sniper..

Treyarch did say they will not take sniper rifles out, they said themselves they COULD take aim assist out, it's up to use to say that we want it or not. They most likely will, quickscoping ruined MW3, you'll be running and see a sniper and boom quickscoped. I would love to see how many people quickscope without aim assist on sniper rifles haha.

i challeged myself with bops quickscoping with aim assit and no steady aim as far as i can remember we were told aim assit is taken out and quickscoping is near impossible to the NOVICES ... so if u can qs well your likely to still be able too.But u may find that the maps are large and you really wanna hardscope and u may never need to qs or ns. ALSO Nsing is going to be near impossible

Hopefully there is NO quickscoping in Black Ops 2...

They will most likely take out aim assist for sniper rifles, this will reduce the amount of quickscopers in Black Ops 2, but will not decrease pro snipers, OpTic, FaZe, etc. Luckily for me I play PS3, so everything about those clans is on a completely different console, hoping to see PS3 make a large recovery, I hear the contract to make Xbox map packs come out a month earlier than other consoles ended in 2012, so let's hope, everybody begins getting map packs all at once

        "pro snipers, OpTic, FaZe"

        I lold SO HARD

People these days have no clue what proper sniping is. It's not getting unimpressive killfeeds versus the most terrible people on the world who play cod for 1 hour a week, it's not failing 347326452752 trickshots, finally landing a lucky one, and then over editing it. It's when you are playing a proper clan war, versus highly experienced people, when you know where and when to look/peek out, have a high accuracy and game awareness, and are a valuable team member.

Certainly NOT Derptic or fake clan.

I can't wait for all the noobs to come on the fourms the first month BO2 is out and say "why did uuz tak out teh aim assist on muh sniper riflez" I'm telling you, they will be asking that and I will be laughing my @ss off. The quickscopers will look up for help and shout "Save us!" and I'll whisper..."No".

There will always be an overpowered weapon in Call of Duty, AK74, Type 95, but as long as there's not like 7 overpowered weapons in one game I'll like it

    Here we go another sniper....
There is nothing wrong in having snipers in the game. Its fine by me i **** them anyways.
But Treyarch NEVER liked quickscopers. Personally i hate them too. Want to know why?
In the MW series, you put quickdraw or sleight of hand, steady aim, you could quickscope WITH NO SKILL, NO SKILL AT ALL, NOTHING, ZERO, **** THAT'S WHAT QUICKSCOPERS ARE.
Now how many people quickscoped on BO and WaW??? FEW want to know why?
Because those are the true quickscopers, the true snipers GOOD PLAYERS.
Not bullshit snipers from Modern Warfare's.

Please, do not confuse a true sniper with a "true quickscoper".

    The age old discussion.

Who know's which weapons could be created in Black Ops 2: 2025. Surely a quick-scoping auto-aim homing 50mm bullet or something? Maybe.

But, quickscoping - the scenario of fast ADS OHK - is not something I think should be in any COD game, at least not in the regular multiplayer. Perhaps a special playlist as people have found it enjoyable, it is popular and appears to have a skill/learning curve.

The reason I am against it, in regular modes is basically because it was never actually a concept, but rather a computer physics glitch or phenomenom. Every other glitch or phenomenom is removed or improved. This one proved difficult to do that and after time became a cheat, then a skill, then a craze, and now, a hot potato.

Every sniper shot that is at close range after a sudden ADS should be a hip-fire shot at best. A OHK if on target but should have severely reduced accuracy multiplyers for the shot or shots. The physics of this cannot be played out as the soldiers in the game do not have full movement (eg. dodging, diving, etc.) to the degree someone would have while someone attempts to go downsight on them.

I say, keep things simple and make guns play to their strengths. A sniper rifle should be a OHK for the torso always, but hard to get a torso hit at close, quickly scoped range, making any other bullet-weapon more effective in that setting.

Sniper rifles should excel on long range stealth attacks against a non-alerted target (pretty much useless in COD online), or in classic sniper points at both range and advantage over enemies (eg. tower overlooking open route to the tower, vantage point in cover overlooking a field or other open space).

I hope there are sniper-friendly maps but I hope QS is gone (in regular game modes).

They need to find a balance of Black Ops snipers and modern warfare. In Modern Warfare it's the easiest thing ever, and in Black Ops snipers come with a side of parkisons.
